As for just what happened, I think it is a bunch of things. People left, others stayed but changed. Some of the once goofy members are now more serious. The community is still cool, but no where near as fun as when I first joined.

I miss the old days

Yeah, no kidding it's not as fun...I see mostly the old mods and admins are the same...are they stricter? Or do people just not care about having as much fun? They come here for info or maybe HMW and that's it? Wow. I remember this place where we could get into shenanigans and had a good couple hours of fun. Not flaming, maybe a bit of spam (am I even allowed to say the "S-word?") and just had a good time. Ah, the good old days, yes...

A few new people came, a few old faces left, some cool, others not so much. The Mod Roster changed a few times, it's a bit stricter than it used to be. HMW does seem to be the dominant force of the site, overshadowing the forums. And above all, I grew up, to the point where I think I can be treated as a human punching bag again.

That maybe the other mods are so strickt that they swing the balance of strictness in strickness favor despite your presence?

Honestly, I don't think that it's really to strict here. for me it's more just a matter of missing some of the old members who are no longer active.

I've been lurking for a few weeks now. I burned out on Transformers for a while but the movie has me all excited again.

EDIT - And as for the observation that the site doesn't seem as busy anymore, I thoroughly agree. Before the movie came out there was a core of regular and charismatic posters who were all filtered out after thousands signed up due to the Bay movie, I guess people just got fed up with the loss of 'community spirit' which used to make this site so awesome. The thousands of movie lovers didn't stick around and the regulars haven't returned unfortunately. I remember when I could spend an entire evening on the GD sub-forum alone and each post was either hilarious or thought provoking.

Community spirit! That's what i was thinking of. And I wasn't around when the movie came out, I had no idea that's what happened. But it is kind of depressing. We need to get a little of the frat party atmosphere back in here!

He began a bunch of needlessly in-depth discussions on Transformers (Such as reproduction) and in all of them refused to accept any dissenting opinion, or, along the same lines, any dissenting fact.

Ah, I remember Kittie Rose. She started a bunch of arguments revolving around the movies, and denied flaming someone after anyone claimed she was flaming someone. Then when she was given a three day ban, she came back, demanding to know why, and demanding an apology from the admins. Then she was perma-banned.

Also, BlueBullet. He not only fully believed in the idea of a "True Fan" but that he was one, so that anyone who disagreed with him was not a fan. In particular, anyone who defended the '07 movie was not a "True Fan." Even the people who hated the movie still hated him.

I enjoyed my nightly battle of wits with Negare...she was from New Zealand if I'm not mistaken, and always found her way on the boards when it was 3-4 in the morning here in the U.S. and the place was deserted except for myself and a few other stragglers. We always got into good discussion over the span of a few threads (whether they qualified as spam or not, who knew) and I always left with having learned something new. So...has anyone seen her post lately?
