BACK IN MY DAY...
Parents could spank their kids in the middle of the grocery store and all the way out to the car. Other parents would applaud. And, the principal at school was authorized to hit ya with a stick.
I would never had thought of disrespecting an elder. Now, kids yell and cuss at their parents and for some reason that's ok.
It was ok to throw the kids out of the house to go play. We didn't get to sit around on the internet and play video games all day long.
I thought the Commodore 64 was pretty dang cool!
My family owned a Betamax!
Back in the glorious Reagan years, I had to eat government cheese and drink powdered milk.
I climbed rocks, mountains, rode bicycles and went skiing - all without a helmet.
I pledged allegiance to the flag every morning before school started.
I didn't walk with my friends down the middle of the street. We used the sidewalks.
It wasn't an assault charge if you threw snowballs.
I rode in the back of a pick up truck and loved it!
Our phone was on a party line!
There was no such thing as political correctness - you just knew what you could and couldn't get away with saying. If you didn't know, you'd get slugged.
Going to McDonalds was a treat, not dinner every night.
Wal-Mart just wasn't around.
Our first cars were beaters we had to learn how to tune up, change oil/tires and have a job for gas money.
Wrestling WAS worth watching...Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan!
Cruising was an acceptable form of social interaction - and with gas only being 80 cents a gallon, it was a fairly cheap activity!
And, The Gummy Bears on Saturday morning cartoons! I loved them!
