The best (and worst) Transformers gifts you've been given

Feel free to discuss anything about any of the thousands of Transformer toys here. Anything from Generation 1 all the way to the soon to be released, the never to be released or the hope to be released is fair game! Want to show off your stuff? Please post your's and see others in the Transformers Collections Forum.

As the title suggests, I'm curious as to the best and worst TF ietms anyone has ever given you. Mostly people will probably list toys but it can be anything TF related, really.

Here's mine...

As a kid, you know they were pretty much ALL gifts, I think the only Transformer I ever bought new completely with my own money was Twin Twist (I think he was around $3) There were a couple Go-Bots and generics in there too but usually I had to rely on others for the TF stuff. Of course, getting Optimus Prime (among many others) as a First Communion gift was well beyond awesome.

As an adult, my wife has bought me various toys for birthdays/Christmas etc but what stands out the most was her buying me the 1986 movie (Rhino version) as a surprise for one Valentine's Day. Pretty cool.

As for the worst, well my family seems to think I'll like ANYTHING Transformers related. 2 years ago I got a Fast Action Battler Bumblb ich I thought was pretty bad until...

2 days ago my sister gave me a Transformers Animated...

LUNCHBOX.

Yeah...

The best? My Ex girlfriend gave me an Alternators Mirage one birthday. Yeah, she rocks. (She still hunts down transformers for me)

The worst? The transformers board game given to me one Christmas by my parents, SO lame. It is snakes and ladders with transformers, except to transform to vehicle mode, you push them over... ...hmm a bit like RoTF RPMs, lol.

When I was getting back in the game, for my Birthday, My Mom got me Cybertron Wing Saber. I then hinted my friends to get me Cybertron Optimus. So they got together to go buy it. My best friend then bought me Cybertron Galvatron.

A few years later, my girlfriend bought me Aniamted leader Megatron then I started watching Animated and got hooked. After that I bought all the figures and watched the series over 5 times already. So I guess she gave me the gift of Animated.

As for worst, I can't argue, since any transformer added to my collection is a good present.Actually I take that back Bandit Lockdown Activator... My Friend's mom bought him it, he didn't want it so he gave it to me... and now it's just taking up space.

The best gift is RotF Voyager Stratosphere. I love the figure but what makes it the best for me is that my little brother bought it for me. It was during a dry spell in my budget for Transformers. I gushed over the figure on our drive home. A week later, he surprised me with Stratosphere because he knew how much I wanted it.

As far as worst...aside from Stratosphere, the last time I received a Transformers toy gift was when I was a kid and they were all cool.

Best is a tie between my wife getting me Star Convoy (pre-rerelease!) and my sister getting me machine Wars Optimus Prime.

Worst? I have gotten so many things that I already own for Christmas and my birthday that I just expect it now. Nothing wrong with the items themselves, hell, they were cool enough that I bought them months before. Still, it's just not fun to recieve something that's already old to you.

The best I ever got, even though my parents got me loads of G1s I loved at the time, is Movie Brawl from the girl I was going out with at that time. I played with him all day apart from when she dragged me away from him (kicking and screaming) to go out for lunch and in the evening when I went out with friends.

The worst: same girl gave me that Movie thing that looks like a little walkie-talkie but has six OP quotes, five of which aren't from the Movie and don't have the right voice. She had more fun with it than me!

The most surprising gift was when she brought me the head of Optimus Prime! It's Prime's head and inside is a sponge and bubble bath. I was not very impressed until she explained she'd bought it to keep TF weapons in. So that's the most useful TF gift ever.

Oh dude, that's tragic. But on the plus side, you've never been given a bad one!

Best:

My ex-fiancee bought me a set of 32 G2 Transformers for my birthday 4 years ago.

Worst:

Legends 4 pack with Cybertron and Movie Optimus Primes and Megatrons.

Lovely thought but I hate legends and the Movie and Cybertron Prime and Megs are coincidentally my least favourite versions of the characters. Especially the Cybertron versions.

The worst is easy:

Back in the heart of G1, Basically about the middle of the season 2 episode was a Christmas. Part of me was a kid who wanted his toys, half of me was a son in a family where my Dad had quit a secure job to further his ambitions as an international soccer referee, and I knew there wasn't much money for presents that year.

I was really excited when it looked like I was still going to get a few minibots but when I opened the package I found a few Go-bots. I was not a happy camper. But looking back I can see how they were doing their best to try do something nice for me.

Best is a three way tie.

1) Music Label Soundwave, Frenzy & Rumble from my Girlfriend last Christmas.

2) My former room-mates knowing I wanted the Movie release with the Robot Heroes pieces picked it up for me.

3) Animated Bumblebee. A strange one but here's why. The last Transformer I can remember my parents buying for me was Cosmos. It was an Easter present, and it was shortly after that they started on the "aren't you getting too old for toys" kick. For years after that I have endued the "what do you spend your money on?" and such that for the majority of 2 decades I have just not discussed the issue with my parents about the size of my collections.

Just as the first Animated toys were hitting the market around here, My dad had a business trip to Hong Kong and when he asked my nephew what he wanted (and my nephew being young enough he didn't care where Grampa was going) he replied he wanted an Optimus Prime, seeing my brother in law had shown him the movie a couple weeks before and he was learning about the joys of Transformers.

Suffice to say Dad had no clue and returned from his trip with out a Prime, and asked If I had any clue how he could get one before seeing my nephew that evening. I recommended that we hit up the local TRU as they might have had some movie toys still and I could figure out something he could get.

Surprise, surprise, when we got there as they had just put out the first wave of Animated. Right there was Cybertron Mode Prime. Bingo I knew my nephew would like that so I handed it to my Dad and gave him the quick rundown that it would work and why. as we headed to the til, I grabbed Bee of the shelf for myself.

Dad asked why I grabbed it, and I said for my own collection. He asked "Seriously" and I told him yes, expecting another hostile finances/grow-up conversation. Instead he just took it from me, handed both to the girl at the register and payed for both before handing it back to me. He asked if my girl was ok with me buying them, and I told him that she bought them for me, which ended that conversation.

Regardless, I doubt he has any clue that him buying it meant as much to me as it does.

Also an extra #4. Thank you Stan Bush, for getting The Touch made available as a download for Guitar Hero, that is a huge present for all your fans.

Best? Tough call on the exact best gift, but I'm fairly certain it came from my parents. Maybe Fortress Maximus, which my dad found at a store in Singapore during the G2 era. Or Christmas 1998 when I got G1 Megatron, Galvatron, and Sky Lynx.

Another great gift, from a friend, was TransFormers floor mats for my car, with a big 'Con logo and G1 Megatron. That's been about ten years, and they're still in my car.

Worst...

Most times I like anything TransFormers. A friend actually bought me an ROTF lunchbox last week. Unlike you, Deli, I actually kinda like it. I'm a bit of a packrat so I always need something in which to stash random crap. If nothing else, I can set it somewhere and pose TFs on top of it.

So if that's not the worst, then what? TransFormers Playing Cards? No, wait, I bought those for myself. :P

Oh wait, I remember now. My roommate Nick bought me a TransFormers giftbag once. I think I ended up giving my then-girlfriend a present in it.

Worst:

My girlfriend's aunt loves to buy me toys. It's really sweet, and it means a lot, but she always picks the wrong ones. XD First year she got me Purple Classics Megatron, which I didn't really want, I got the Henkei one later. Last year she got me the Cybertron Prime & Crumplezone 2-pack from Costco, which is where she works. It was pretty awesome to get such a huge Christmas present, but I already have Cybertron Prime, and I wasn't really interested in Crumplezone. XD I just pretend my original Cyb-Prime is the one she got me. Unfortunately I can't sell the Megatron because it was a gift. Ah, well.

Oh, and my parents bought me a couple TFs I already had, but they didn't mind that I exchanged them.
Best:

When I was 6 years old, all I wanted was an Optimus Prime. For months I dreamed about it, never really expecting I would get one. Christmas morning, under the tree, I found Powermaster Optimus Prime. I was so excited I tore the box to pieces ("OMG, NOOOOO!" I think now, lol). It was the first and last big TF gift I got from my parents, but it was cherished for years, and I still have it stored away, even if it is pretty busted up.

My parents also bought me my Alt Silverstreak, and a few other small TFs.

My girlfriend has so far bought me all these figures:

MP Starscream (first Christmas gift from her :))
TRU Reissue Soundwave (for no reason at all)
G1 Jetfire (Second Birthday gift from her)
Classics Jetfire (I think because I bought her something, she returned the favor)

And she says she's going to buy me MP Grimlock for Christmas this year. Awesomeness.

Also, my ex bought me the Cybertron verson of RID Omega Prime, back when we were together. That was kind of cool.

This Animated lunchbox is so small it looks like it belongs to Nicole Ritchie.

I'm not sure you could even fit more than half a dozen minicons in it.

I guess my favourite was G1 Superion for my 6th birthday.

Worst would be getting a Pretender for Christmas (aside from Pretenders being awful transformers IMO), by that time I had switched from Transformers to Lego as the toy of choice and the gift seemed like one of those fillers cause your parents don't know what else to get you cause your Christmas list was less than their budget and they don't want to give you another Lego set for some reason.

Worst Gift.My parents one year went thru and bought me a bunch of random transformer items(keychains, valentines days cards, balloons)that was pretty lame, but it did have cybertron swerve there too which i didnt mind ;)

hmmm.....

The best TF gift I got was Christmas 1984. My dad was in the hospital recovering from a bad case of pneumonia. Transformers had flew off the shelf that year and were very hard to find. That year my mom bought Radio Shack-wave, some knockoff diaclone stuff like Laserbeak/Rumble for my friend, and Reflector for me from the Chinese shop at the mall.
I got a crappy Go-Bot, the ambulance and some nice huge Lego sets. My mom used to go all out for me when I was a kid.

My dad, still in the hospital had called my grandma in New York to track down some Transformers. Of course they said they could not find any. However, the day after Christmas, I got a box in the mail from my grandma. Inside was a sweater, and G1 Megatron. It was wrapped in the sweater so I thought it was a flimsy box, but it was Gi Megs. I called all my friends over to see it. I miss my parents, they always made Christmas fun.

Wow, I had a G1 Shockwave and Optimus Prime but never had a Megs, precisely because my parents couldn't find me one.

Best?

ROTF Long Haul. I was too busy at work to buy it, so I got my sister to pick one up for me, since she was going to the shopping mall, anyway. When she dropped it off at my house later, she told me to keep the money; said it was a surprise gift.

Worst?

Haven't gotten one I disliked, touch wood.
