I don't think they made reference of the difference between the white shells and the grey shells, the whites were suppose to be simply an evolved version and we had to accept that. The only substantial difference is the whites were programmed to obey Davros/Emperor.

The civil war happened because the greys had already broken away from Davros' control and had no desire to be ruled by him or an Emperor or any one being, plus the whites were out to wipe them out for being weak.

if memeory serves, the rouge (grey) daleks were blobs, the imperial (white) were cybernetic blobs. if i can be bothered to watc it tomorrow ill be able to tell you if this is right or not.

I think that's what the differences were.
I'll have to rewatch that story too, as my memory is a bit hazy. Didn't the black dalek commit suicide in that story after Skaro was destroyed too?

ahhh Christmas, the one time of year everyone can sing off key.

JOYYYYYY TO THE WORLD .... Kylie's dismissed.

Outpost Gallifrey news wrote:Doctor Who executive producer and chief writer Russell T Davies has dismissed the rumour spread by several media sources this week that Australian pop singer and actress Kylie Minogue was to appear in the 2007 Christmas special of the show.

The rumour originally appeared in last Sunday's edition of the News of the World newspaper, as reported at the time by Outpost Gallifrey, and was subsequently picked up by several websites and other newspapers. However, speaking to the BBC's weekly in-house magazine Ariel, Davies has rubbished the suggestion.

"Don't be stupid," he told the publication. "I haven't even written the script yet, and a woman like that is booked up two years in advance."

YAY! Christmas 2007 is saved!

At least this episode didn't have a stupid ending to get rid of all the Daleks like the series finales had. I wish they had done something different about Sec's hybrid head, I kept thinking of it as a guy in a mask instead of an alien like I usually do. Still, overall the best ep of the current series. I do love the Dalek theme tune they started. But I still say the two Daleks could have shot faster than that against the DalekHumans.

Doubtful.

I couldn't help but picture Davros spinning wildly in his chair when Sek was giving his speech about how the Daleks had to change and become all emotional and all that crap.

Heck, it made me want to puke. Sek had such potential and they turn him into a goddamn pussy!

And if The Doctor is the biggest enemy of the Daleks, why the hell don't they shoot him on sight?

I mean at the start they had him surrounded. Three Daleks either side. BANG! Open fire already!

Dalek theme - good stuff!

Dalek's getting taken down by a bunch of humans. Damn straight they should have been firing faster! "Dalek", S1. One Dalek went crazy and slaughtered a fully trained security force.

Here's hoping we don't see Khan again until next season and this time the full threat of the Dalek Empire is restored. I'm bored with these "last of his/their kind" stories.

I was watching "School Reunion" yesterday and I notice something very weird.
In "School Reunion" the Doctor tells Sarah Jane that he has regenated a half dozen times (6) since she last saw him which is technically in "The 5 Doctors" so buy simple math that would imply that current Doctor is not the 10th but the 11th!

Now I know it also works perfectly if she had no memory of the events of "The Five Doctors" meaning a staright line from Tom Baker to current Doctor and it should be stated that Sarah Jane didn't know that Davison was the 5th Doctor unless Tegan told her off screen while the Doctors were busy trying to decipher the tablet (or whatever it was) at the climax in the "The Five Doctors".

Jesus, that was a terrible episode. For the first time I felt like turning it off. Emergency temporal shift? When they were at low power? If they could do that, why not shift to another time zone where they could build more Daleks, rather than complaining?

'Emergency temporal shift'- interchangeable with 'Sh#t, we can't figure out how to end the episode'. So disappointed.

Ugh. Just read the episode summary over @ Wikipedia. Looks like I was right. All the promise the episode showed in "Manhattan" got pissed away with Sec getting exterminated, as pretty much everyone guessed, and RTD playing that goddamned mutherf*cking dues ex machina card again so that the Daleks can come back in the next series to cause another spike in the ratings before disappearing to be reused in the next series.

It's a goddamned endless f*cking circle. :-x

Surprisingly, the ratings for the past to episodes have been in a lull- only 6 million in comparison with the usual 80-10, I believe.

That's because everyone's getting sick of the Daleks. They have been overused and pacified far too much. No Daleks for at least 3 series. They should return in Tennant's last episode and end with the ressurected Dalek Empire (taking their cues from that one in "Dalek" i.e. fast firing, bulldozing through with no regard for secrecy, able to take a beating before getting killed by humans) exterminating him and triggering the regeneration.

Quick q: If the Daleks shoot the doc and he dies, won't he regenerate? Meaning the Daleks would have to stay there and keep killing him until he ran out of lives? Or do Daleks have 'special' weapons that just wipe out all remaining lives?

He should regenerate.

But who knows what affect a Dalek death ray has. But I think it would be appropriate that the Daleks get him at least once and cause a regeneration.

Seems it was only me who loved this episode :-?

Sek was a bit of a pussy but then again he wasn't a normal run of the mill Dalek in the first place. He and his fellow cult members were different and we the only Daleks who were purposely meant to think on their own and think as the enemy would. So splicing him with human DNA I wasn't surprised at the way he turned out.

I thought it played out well, I knew Sek was doomed from the start but it was cool to see the other Daleks plotting against him. I just hope (like someone said) that we don't get another only one Dalek and some slaves vs the Dr. I wasn't happy how easy it was to wipe out the whole Dalek fleet at the end of the first series, the emperor could have been a major character but they killed him off to easily. Give us some real Cybermen from our galaxy (not those alternative universe pussies) and throw in a reborn Dalek army with the Dr in the middle and I'll be happy. Hell even bring back the different coloured Daleks like they had in the old movies :P

I've been thinking about it for a while now and I hope they do it in the furture. At some point half way through the next series we're losing this Dr but he needs to go out with a bigger bang than the last one did. Give us the Times Wars !!! I want to see the Time Lords in action fighting the Dalek legions, mass war, mass destruction please :D

When asked about the latest incarnation of the Dalek's, the 4th Doctor's response was simple.

A really good episode tonight, very creepy and some darn good special effects on the mutant.

After feeling disappointed with the first 3 episodes, things have definitely picked up and by the preview of the next 7 episodes, it looks to get even better.

Hell that shot with john Simms tapping on the table with the gas mask was creepy. :D

But 2 weeks til Episde "42".....tis not fair I tells ya...not fair! *cries* :'(

*Edit* and of course seeing Jack in the trailer amused me.....old good Jack.

Really? I thought the effects on this weeks guy was crap. Reminded me of that giant mutant spider at the end of tomb raider 3.

All in all, the best ep of this was last weeks, followed by the first. I prefer Martha over Rose (in all aspects) but the first series was best in terms of plots imo. Tennant was better in the last series. I don't know, there just seems to be something off this series. Here's hoping good ol' Jack can save the day. If not, roll on a new series of Torchwood because that series was fantastic (except for a slight drop after the ep with Suzie's return up to the final 2 parter).

What preview? *is slow and thus behind*

ETA: OK, I just went to the site and watched it. And you know, it's starting to look more and more like the return of the Master is likely by the end of the series.

You know that little trailer they have at the end of eps previewing the next one? This week featured scenes from the rest of the series and said "Coming up" instead of Next Week. It was also alot longer than usual. I think they just did that because this ep ran short. That's why they put them in to begin with for Eccleston's series.
