Ah, jeez.

Elisabeth Sladen, who plays Sarah Jane comments: "It's a fantastic script and I can't wait to work with another Doctor and hope Matt has fun with us. I've known Katy for ages and I am delighted to be working with her. I last met her in LA but this time we will be in Cardiff. LA was good but Cardiff is better."

Katy Manning, who recently returned to live in the UK again, adds: "Playing Jo Grant again is something I never really considered. I was gob-smacked when they told me and I am over the moon. What an incredible little treat. I come home and this is one of the first things that happens."

Executive producer Nikki Wilson says: "We are absolutely thrilled to be introducing Sarah Jane and the gang to both The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant, and to have a script penned by Russell T Davies is the icing on the cake!

"Viewers are in for a real treat, with an action-packed story full of Russell's usual wit and warmth, which takes the gang inside a secret base beneath Snowdon and introduces brand-new vulture aliens, the mysterious Shansheeth. All this, plus a trip to an alien planet – a first for The Sarah Jane Adventures."

I guess SJA is running out of ideas for stories. I mean, I can understand having Tennant last series, considering it was basically his swansong year. And having Nick Courtney back was awesome and worked well. But having Jo come back, when their characters have never interacted? And having Matt come on in what is basically his debut (and notice how they don't say whether or not Karen's coming with him)...

Wow, I didn't even know this thread existed. That's awesome!
My 2 cents on Victory of the Daleks:
I don't like the redesign. Sure bring back multi-coloured Daleks if you want... but the bulging out bits, extra vent details and all the rounded edges makes me feel like they were designed by Pat Lee... If they could, they'd be squatting or expressing dull surprise every time you see them. I'm all for a good Dalek tale, but the key word in it is good. I will give it points for Daleks sneaking up on people and bellowing in their ear "WOULD YOU CARE FOR SOME TEA?!"
Spitfires in Space: Fantastic! I recall seeing shots of that in the series preview and thinking "I've gotta see how they manage that one!"
I also find it odd that Amy Pond doesn't remember the Daleks invading Earth, probably something to do with the universal cracks going about but I guess we'll see.
Stoked about the next episode, though... loved the weeping angels last time around.

So what do you think the color breakdown for this nightmare sentai team is?

Someone out there in internet-land suggested Red=Drone, White=Supreme, Yellow=Eternal, Blue-Strategist, Orange=Scientist... is that how they were named in the episode? They rattled off the roles so fast that it took me an internet search to just track down the names.

I'm interested in the new Dalek design, but I don't think I care for the color scheme. The old pepper-pots are now skittle-jars. I hope this isn't a reinvention that is created just to kill off in the same season, though, like so many we saw under the old new crew.

Was it me, or did this week's episode feel shorter than some of the others?

So this River is earlier than the last time se saw her, time travel is indeed confusing :P

Overall I enjoyed this episode, to me it conveys the same amount of dread and suspence as the last time we saw the angels. Though it struck me as odd that they simply didn't shoot the angels when they realised all the statues were angels. I'm hoping for a good part 2.

The "Image of an Angel becoming an Angel" bit was a nice touch, really lends itself well to making these things creepy as hell... One problem though... Sally Sparrow took a picture of one. It was in the folder she handed the Doctor back in Blink...

Because we all know that is what is going to happen.

after watching VoD, I came away with 3 thoughts.
1) Spitfires in space are bloody awesome.
2) I hope that they produce a toy version of the Ironside Dalek, IMO the best special design Dalek that has stood out to me since the heavy-weapon one in Remembrance.
3) The budget cut-backs are killing this season for me. The bunker was fine, but the Dalek ship looked like the office space connected to a warehouse. One giant open room with two fancy doorways and a podium in the middle. EPIC epic fail that is

As far as Matt is doing. Not bad so far, but I don't see him taking a place in the top 5 List of my fav docs any time soon.

Normally I don't find much enjoyment in Doctor Who, but I feel inclined to say that "The Time of Angels" was a brilliant piece of television, and I would definitely love to see more episodes like that one. It's not often something can make me go to bed wondering if I'm going to be devoured by angels in my sleep.

Okay, here's a question for everyone.

All of the Doc's enemies have teamed up to conquer TIME ITSELF! Natch, only the Doc and his companions can stop this heinous plot...

But which version of the Time Lord? And which companions?

Up to six companions. The Brigadier counts, too. No 'special' ones like Doctor Donna or Time-Vortex rose, either. ;)

Why would you come to this conclusion when every story Moffat's ever written has consistently ended in a logical fashion?

Seriously, it's like you want it to be terrible. :P

Series 1: Reprograms the nanites to recognise human DNA and fix people.

Series 2: The ship was called Madame Du Pompadour!

Series 3: Get the angels to look at each other!

Series 4: Turns out the computer tried to download the patron's consciousnesses.

Series 5: a) Doctor uses a virus established well within the episode to get the attention of the aliens. Aliens proceed to take the alien prisoner.

b) The whale was wanting to stay in the first place - turns out mankind are asses.

c) Weeping angels removed by removing gravity, allowing them to fall. Ingeniously simple.

I really don't see why we should expect any kind of ill-plotted deus ex machina.

Have you watched any Doctor Who series finale at any point over the past five years? RTD basically made a habit of doing it for each and every single one of them. Even though the Moff has taken over, should we really expect any different?

Not that I want to see another deus ex at the end of the season but there is a massive difference for Moffet between resolving a single episode plot as Matrix pointed out he has been able to do so far, and to find a way to give a conclusive resolution to a issue that clearly has repercussion all over time and space (considering the tears seem to be following the doc) and seems to have had a rather dramatic effect on people all over, without pissing on the last few years of episodes.

I love Moffet's work, I think the guy is a genius and i'm glad he took over from that hack RTD.

Why can't I be excited though?

Because even though he didn't write it, he still allowed that god awful Dalek crap to happen and it reaked too much of RTD for my liking.

So far I'm liking this season. I watched the unedited premiere and loved it. Little things were everywhere. The grappling hook, the kitchen scene, the handcuffs and the car..... All edited out for american tv on the second go round. It made me a bit mad so I haven't been as faithful as I've been in the past. That and life kicked me in the pants so tv's on the back burner right now.

But I caught the last one with the Daleks. Man am I sick of them. They were treated very well but it feels like a ship that's run aground and is now half way up the shore and still going.

Agreed. I feel safe in saying that "Victory of the Daleks" was Series Five's first unquestionable dud.

And I'm surprised this hasn't been said yet, but it seems that the Silurians are coming back.

I loathe the Daleks because it is very hard for me to take them seriously, the episode 'Dalek' notwithstanding. They look silly, they sound silly and for the longest time, stairs were their ultimate weak point.

It shows how much I hate them when my all-time favorite scene in Who history is from 'Remembrance of the Daleks' and Ace beating the holy hell out of one of them with a baseball bat. Brings a smile to my face every time. :D
