It made me realise what I don't like about this new series, too much budget.

Too... much? Umm, one of the things I found... lacking in the old series was the effects.

The dodgy effects were what made the old series!

It's not the quality of the effects, but what they DO with them that's important. Personally, I'm loving this new series. Sure, its sentai-Daleks put me off a bit, but the plot arcs have been solid. I didn't watch much Trek after TNG, so this near-human lizardpeople thing looks good to me.

And yeah, I had the Tardis shrapnel pegged as soon as he reached in.

It is one of the things that bugs me. For years DW was a pioneer of effects with a lot of shows copying it, Star Trek it's self borrowed a number of things from DW, now, all the aliens look like something you'd find in Star Trek.

I had a break from Dr Who for a bit since I didn't really like Tate being the sidekick. Now that I've gotten back into it I have to say it's pretty good. I didn't see the Sentai Dalek episode because I started just after it and can't be bothered going back to watch it.

Just finished episode 9 (Hungry Earth Part2) of season 5 and man, its still an absolutely brilliant TV series even without David Tennant and Russel T Davies. I have a feeling i'm going to remain a big fan until the BBC stops producing the series.

I was totally caught off guard by the twist, I kind of saw it coming, but I never thought they'd go there.

Annnnnnnd series five has come to a close. Gotta say, it was interesting, but it didn't have the pull to it of previous finales. Round about the third time The Doctor was thought to be dead/removed from existence, I just didn't really give a damn anymore. I was happy to see Rory fully restored and they give you a hint of the next adventure... but I'm not anticipating it nearly as much as I was, say, "Voyage of the Damned", or even "The Next Doctor"... I'll still watch it, mind you... Matt Smith still has a ways to go to be a Doctor I'll care about as a character, but he's not bad, I'll keep giving him a chance to surprise me.

The finale ... meh, you knew it was all going to work out right in the end. It's only redeeming part was the mystery left open of who in fact was in control of the Tardis.

OK.. It was a decent finale for season 6 (season 5 was last year with the specials)..
Matt is coming around as the Doctor but as was said before he still has a ways to go. I am interested to see how this will lead into next season as both Rory and Amy are now with the Doctor.. I am also interested to see what River was meaning (if you saw it you know what I am talking about).

Yes, there is that to ponder... It obviously couldn't have been any of The Doctor's assembled enemies, otherwise they'd know he wasn't flying it thereby making their plan to lock him up and save the universe wholly useless (which it was, but they didn't know that)... Who could it have been?

I just got into Dr. Who a few weeks ago on BBCA. What's the deal with the fact that the cast, the music, and the special effects have changed since 2008. I've seen reruns of 08 shows and I personally like the Dr on those shows better than the current Dr. (The current Dr. is kinda of dork.) Yet strangely enough I saw and episode the other day with that woman from the future or whatever and she hinted that the Dr. would be different in the future. It's a bit of as the Brits say "a bugger"
BTW: What spin-offs has Dr. Who have?

Depending on which point in time she's from, River Song either knows the Doctor intimately (and knows a future incarnation) or has only made brief appearances in his life.

Well, not only that but a number of other reasons as well:

1: The producers tried to make the Tennant run in HD, but once they did, they found that it looked really really bad, even by old Doctor Who standards. So they had to step up the quality of pretty much anything that got put in front of the camera.

2: Not only did the producers changed, but pretty much all of crew did too, because...

3: the entire production went from being shot in Cardiff to Whales. As I understand it, Whales is much like Los Angles/Hollywood in terms of being the Hub for producing shows/movies. I could be wrong, since I never been there, and lived in Chicago for most of my life.

4: so for the most part, it really is a new show in pretty much every aspect behind the camera. I think could explain why this season has been somewhat underwhelming compared to Tennant's era, cause pretty much every aspect of the show is still trying to define itself as a Doctor Who series. Ever go back and watch the first season of your favorite shows? Compared to the later seasons, it feels like a distilled version of it's future self.

You sir are forgetting about your Master...

...the "Dreamlord" and the only other people who know how to handle a Tardis, that's right, other Timelords. So that Tardis that was looking for a new pilot and killed a lot people to get one in the new season might be clue itself (The former owner). Also, is it me, or does that Tardis look a little like the Doctor's Tardis from the 90's movie?

Those are my guesses.

From the sounds of it, this is going to be the "Revisitation" release that's getting released in the UK along with "Caves of Androzani" and "Talons of Weng-Chiang."

People think it might be another rouge Time Lord named Omega, from Sylvester McCoy's final seasons. Some also think it might be The Master, but i don't think it is. The Master redeemed himself in The End of Time by banishing the Evil Time Lords, sacrificing himself in the process. R.I.P Master.

Rassilon might be another option, i guess.

Omega strikes me as more likely than Rassilon, if only because 1) I don't see bringing Rassilon back so quickly (ditto for the Master) and 2) that voice didn't sound very Rassilonish to me.

I'm really expecting it to be someone new, though.
