I have my torrent DL'ing as I type this.

Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

Low point - The fact that oh, let's pop home and see the parent again! Had enough of that with Rose. Though at least this time any future eps where they pop home to see Mum, Mum won't be so chummy.
High point - The coming soon trailer. John Simm tapping away on the table was definitely an interesting shot. And it looks like we're going to be exploring more of the Doctor's psyche. No doubt as Saxon attempts to turn everyone against him.
The rest - eh, typical monster of the week storyline really.

Too be fair, they only popped home because Doc was 'suppossed' to be dropping Martha off home.
Why is everyone getting excited over a guy tapping his finger on a table? Am I missing something?

BTW Burn, love your sig.

True, but considering what Saxon's lackey told Martha's mum, there's probably going to be more family involvement down the track.
(Well more so than that upcoming episode with the Doctor and his family)

Because that guy is John Simm (from Life on Mars) and is cast as Saxon who is HEAVILY rumoured to be The Master.

hehehe thanks. When I read the boox I couldn't help myself.

I stopped watching Torchwood after episode 3 or so. It was just too oversexed for me. I did like Capt. Jack, though, and will enjoy seeing him again in Doctor Who.
I agree that the spider/scorpion animation was disappointing. The shots on it were too sustained, a glimpse here and there would have built a bit more tension and not destroyed my suspension of disbelief. I might have even preferred a rubber suit.
Who was that guy who was badmouthing the Doctor to Martha's mother?
In the scene with the finger tapping in the teaser, didn't it look like he had gassed everybody in the room and was keeping himself alive?

I've finished the first four DW books involving Faction Paradox and the eventual destruction of Gallifrey.
I do NOT recommend these books one bit.
Especially the last two, Interference Books 1 & 2.
The story telling was literally all over the place. Different stories for different characters all with a different style. Yeah, the stories come together in the end but it's a damn effort to get to the end.
And if that wasn't painful enough, they decide to completely change history and have the third Doctor's regeneration caused under completely different circumstances.
Not sure if I want to pick up the rest of the books, but i'll certaintly be avoiding all books written by Miles Warren from now on.

Not gonna let *this* thread die. Not with another episode just round the corner.
2 week wait's been a bitch, ne? Still, Eurovision was hysterical enough.

Probably around October/November.
I think they only just started filming in the last couple of weeks.

What I can't figure out is why they just didn't move Dr Who to BBC2 for last week instead of missing it out altogether. Do these people not know I HAVE to see this program each week.
Makes it worse that my niece is coming up this week and I promised her I'd take her to see the new Spiderman 3 movie. Ofc we're going on Saturday which means I'll miss it again

Oh goody. Another profanity filled pm to look forward to.
ahem. Anyway. Something I was thinking about which should make for an interesting debate.
Low budget and cheap props and cheesy special effects style -vs- big budget, professional props and super special effects style.
What do you prefer?
I'm actually starting to miss the old budget style. I think it was part of the DW charm.

I looked back on the original DW episodes with rose tinted glasses but when I've seen them back it makes me shudder who cheesy they were. But they we're pretty good for their time.
Even the BBC who have a budget as tight as a ducks arse realise the had to spend the cash to make the new DW as successful as it is now.

I think it was more about doing the best they could with what they had. From a position of dearth, they were forced to use a ton of ingenuity along with their creativity. That's why Who has always been better than Trek (more a criticism of the spin offs) or any American big-budget network sci-fi schlock.

Well said!
And while I have nothing against the big budget new version, it doesn't have the ingenuity of the old series.
Instead it's relying on damn good stories and one of the best Doctors ever.

What I really miss though is the old Tardis interior. This new open planning style just doesn't work for me.

One thing I want to see is for the camera man to pan round the tardis instead of just that one shot we get. I know they probably haven't built the rest of the set but it would be interesting to see a bit more of the old girl.

That preview from two weeks ago was for the rest of the season, not the next episode. Silly man.
Simm/Saxon will more than likely not appear until the last two episodes, seeing as he's this seasons bad guy and all.
As for this episode. Bored a concept from 24 did they? And then called the episode "42" to boot. Definitely enjoyed the fast pace through the whole episode.
Though the Doctor surviving outside that close to the sun was a bit too far fetched for my liking. As was the rescue.

Meh, shields were up.
A spaceship heading towards the sun has had several malfunctions causing it to be doomed, whilst a nutcase goes around killing everyone on board.
... Sunshine, anyone?
