Cyclonus and Demolisher still are some of my favourite deluxe transformers. They're just so well made.

I disagree bout Jetfire. I prefer the original. I just love the way he looks.

I really like this thread. I love bantering about crappy robots from long-ago lines...

although Armada wasn't that long ago... but still ... I guess it kind of was....

Personally - other than Tidal Wave, Scavenger (he was cool!) and Armada Galvatron (I call him Scalpel, a sadistic scientist-doctor)... I only have Minicons

Blurrz wrote:Darn skywarp, lol, i was thinking in my sleep I would do a Jetfire profile but you stole my thunder! Haha, well since no one has done him yet, i'll be doing Hoist in a short while.

Wow I had no idea this thread was that important to you, to be thinking of it in your sleep.. you are the Man!!! You are now part of Skywarp's army.. a secret society bent on world domination of buying toys CHEAP from transformers..or what ever.. your cool in my book!! Anyone with that much devotion to this Hobby is awesome, no MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS!!! ;)^

Looking forward to your review, I like Hoist..I did Jetfire simply because I WANTED THE BOTCON ASTROTRAIN, WITH EXTREME EMPHASIS ON THE WANT... but after seeing those prices I opted for this guy, since he's much cheaper and still looks cool with those colors.. it's a nice settle point.. overall he's not that bad, and in my opinion a nice figure to combine with prime..His color scheme, to me, just fits better, Like Energon Magnus..

I just want ya'll to know, I've taken alot of heat for these threads because of the amount of images, from the Mods, and I hope that I am paving the way for a new Trend here on these forums.... without permanently pissing off the Mods... Its a cool place this Seibertron.com, and no other transformers site gives us this much freedom of expression and fun in threads.. I have never had any other fans help me with one of these before, so I appreciate the help..

All of you are great in your own way.. And I shall always remember the assistance you have given me in panning out this trilogy thread..I have made some modifications to the begining and the title to hopefully satisfy the Mods on here so that this trilogy can finally be closed with the Cybertron/Galaxy Force, Thread that we all know is coming.. for me I like the fact that we can see these picures as we read, but unfortunately not everyone has high speed internet, and some still have dial up..

So to you guys opening these threads and waiting a long time, I apologize..I love all Transformers Fans the same and want to help-0ut as much as I can, so I have added a disclaimer so that I don't get banned for the excessive images that only the High speed internet users can enjoy..

Thanks for all the support guys, I look forward to finishing what we have started here on Armada, Energon, and Cybertron.. this was really meant to start out as a quick buyers guide reference with images to help make your descision easier.. its a cool thing we are doing, here on seibertron.com, remember that no other forum does or allows this with their threads..!!! I am truly greatful for that.. And you should be too, this forum is the best forum to ever be run..!! Consider yourself lucky.., I know I do!!

Man I love this thread.

For those who don't know, Hoist is the new body of Smokescreen after Megatron obliterated him with the Requiem Blaster.

Armada Hoist is a very interesting figure, with an even more interesting mini-con, Refute.

Hoist is some kind of excavator, who is mainly White and Orange. He has Blue coloured treads, and one very long scooper.

Image

This transformer is definetly not show accurate, as Hoist is alot more white, and black, and has some red spots in the cartoon.

Image

With or without the addition of his mini-con, Hoist's scooper can move in or out, and actually is quite powerful

Image

Hoist doesn't have any flaws in my opinion. He is one kick-ass Transformer. But hey, don't he remind you of Dinobot?

Image

No Flaws you say? Yes the scooper is his actual hand, but this guy is so freaking poseable, I don't know why no one likes him.

Image

His Scooper Claw is very poseable, and his Limbs move by some kind of gear system(quite like Movie Voyager Blackout), so they don't aimlessly fall apart

Image

He doesn't have too many Mini-Con Ports, but you don't really need too many with Hoist. He isn't as crazy as Armada Smokescreen though, as he doesn't shoot any projectiles. But like I say, his scooper claw is sick.

Image

If you haven't picked up Armada Hoist, do so now! He's been redone quite some time too, so if you can't get the original, there's always Universe Ransack, Cybertron Longrack, and Botcon Darksyde Dinobot(hey.. I told you the face looks like Dinobot). They last two don't have mini-cons, but man, I'd love to have Dinobot, he's one of the best re-paints ever.

Once Again Blurrz Nicely done.. I too think the Botcon Dinobot repaint was the coolest recolor ever!! I love this thread!! it's amazing how cool things in the Armada verse could be carried over into other series..And still look very good..I didn't realize how posaable Hoist really was until I saw your review.. I mean he's a pretty good looking toy!! I am gonna have to go back and review and decide which version I will get of the 3 repaints.. I doubt he is sold as the Dinobot version without the rest of the Box set.. and I doubt he's cheap to pick up.. So I may settle for the Cybertron or Energon repaints..On that guy, I'm not fond of the White.. But he's still a nice toy mold..

Now I am gonna critique one of the molds that people dislike, and that is of Armada Hotshot..

Granted his design wasn't a good design to start with, I.E. the Head sculpt, but beyond that, he's quite nice in a repaint..I know there are some of you who have made it known you like the original color schemes of the characters versus the powerlinx versions.. but for me the majority of Powerlinx recolors actually make some of the more questionable molds look very nice indeed..

Armada Powerlinx Hotshot:

A nice throw back to the Generation One Hot Rod color schemes was used in this repaint, which when it's all said and done looks way better then the bright Banana paint colors on the original Hotshot....
Image
The choice of Hasbro to not include clear Plastic Windows, was in my opinion a serious flaw and mistake..
Image
With all dark colors, it has a slimming effect on the Bot mode as well...

Image
when you first transform him, he has the harness look on his chest..

Image
but after adding the engine from the hood spot, he really looks a lot better and is more beefed up if you will..Though if you have them in out of Packaging, i would recommend switching the engines for the one from the original, because of the silver paint touches which would make the Powerlinx version even Hotter!! No pun intended...
Image
The articulation is good..
Image
Though I'm not too fond of the hands being kept inside his door frames, they work if you just view them as armor shielding for protection..
Image
Ok and finally we have the addition of the Minicon which releases a missle launcher/Bazooka from his back, and his axle comes up and becomes a weapon above his head..
Image
Image

I have mixed feelings about this mode, because of the Wheels over head, I always felt as if he was like a Lego former or something like that....But in the end, he's a main character who, granted, doesn't have the best esthetics, but he does look great in Powerlinx colors.. I would recommend getting him as aposed to the original Banana Yellow version..IMHO He just looks alot better..

Wow, that Dinobot really does look pretty sweet! I guess that's why people are so fond of the Botcon exclusives, eh?

Still, it's pretty obvious how important the gimmick on Hotshot was by how huge his backpack is.

Hrmm... I'm trying to think of another Armada-bot that I have experience with, but I'm coming up empty...

give it time, I'm sure you have come across some others in the past, if not, just browse the seibertron toy gallery.. it's a good place to get reinvolved with some of your toys you may want, have or sold over the years..

Quick addition to Skywarp 2's PL Hotshot review. He's actually remoulded as well as recoloured. The face sculpt is different and the visor is moulded in place so it won't come down over the face as the original release's would. In total agreement with S2 that these mods along with the new colours make for an improvement over the original. Can't agree on the posability though. The legs are alright but the lack of motion in the shoulders is very limiting.

I have learned to appreciate Armada a little more over the years, and I began to collect Micron Legend toys since watching Micron Legend. It has better animation as well as finished and not rushed episodes like Armada had. And the Toys are show accurate with better quality as well. Some pics are old, and some are new.

Overload is the US version though.

Still, would it have hurt them to paint uncombined Prime's hands and feet white?

I had forgotten how garrish the Micron Legends version was on Prime. Not that I wouldn't want that version too, but the America release is one good instance were some small revisions (the gold instead of yellow) look worlds better.

While the Hasbro colours are indeed better on their red release of Prime, Takara came up trumps with the Final Battle version from the TRU Magna Convoy DX set. Shame it was such a limited release. Good job I've got one. Does anyone know if the X Dimension Bumble from the set ever got a seperate release or whether that was just as limited as FB Convoy and Clear Magnus?

I have been looking at the comparison of the Magma Convoy, and Final Battle Optimus for years.

Here's the links:
http://tfkenkon.com/collection/act165/:Overload
http://tfkenkon.com/collection/act167/:Convoy
http://tfkenkon.com/collection/act168/:Super Convoy

As for me, I owned lots of Armada and just started getting Micron Legend a year ago, I never liked the colrs on Oprimus Prime, and I owned both Armada primes. The quality on my first Prime was fine, but Final Battle was brittle and did not transform well at all. The colors for Monster Convoy are richer, and the cab portion has more details, but I have to admit the yellow is a little annoying, but up close, it's still better than the few colors used on the Armada Prime.

Now I really like Wheeljacks colors, their darker, than Armada's, but they don't fit well with his mini-con, like the Armada one does. The cool thing is I got the set with the clear dark saber, which is in contrast to the star sabre used in the series, here's a comparison of Wheeljack/Rampage here also:
http://tfkenkon.com/collection/part6/act126/

as well as Tidal wave/Shockwave...my next aquisition:
http://tfkenkon.com/collection/part5/act114/

Lastly to note, the US toys for Armada were in production long before the show made it's debut on CN. They were released in Japan after the show was aired over there, so that is why the colors for some toys differ.

Ok: here is what Wikipedia says about this toys R Us Exclusive from japan:
* Magna Convoy DX Set (Multi-pack, 2003)

"I think he needs another gun."

This set is a Toys "R" Us Japan exclusive, consisting of a slightly redecoed, and more show accurate Powerlinx Optimus Prime (dubbed "Convoy Final Battle Coloration"), a "crystal" version of Overload ("Ultra Magnus Special Clear Version") made out of translucent plastics, and an exclusive X-Dimension redeco of the Street Action Mini-Con Team. This set is entirely "new" content not available in the normal mass-retail Micron Legend line, and is also the last release of "X-Dimension" Mini-Cons.

Rather than coming with individual bio cards for Optimus and Overload, this set came with a single card for the "Magna Convoy" combination of the two. (And no card for the Street Action Team, oddly enough.)

Here are some images of the Japanese toy R Us exclusive, that I now covet!!!

By the way, while compiling these images I went on an eBay rampage looking to buy this guy at any cost, I found lots of "Want Lists" that were online and a couple of reviews, I had almost lost hope, then I found an eBay seller who was selling him for a Steal!! ya'll don't hate on me okay?

A toy so good I bought him twice. 8)

You jest....right?

If you're a pro, you buy it four or more times:

Skywarp2, most of your 'reviews' have been pretty balanced. Your bias here really shows through as you don't go to any lengths to discuss the positives of the figure.

You could always start off wit explaining how this is a modern version of Star Convoy, or how innovative the remote transforming mechanism is, or that Prime combines with Overload and Jetfire in both bot and alt modes.

By the way, as you can see, I have since changed my point of view on Transformers Armada... What are the Bots one by one in your Picture again?? Please list them for us.. thanks CP..

Energon Ultra Magnus
Energon Optimus Prime with Energon Saber
Cybertron Delux Optimus Prime with Armada Skyboom Shield
CostCo Energon/Armada Optimus Prime
Armada Optimus Prime w/Jetfire & Overload
K-Mart Gold Christmas Optimus Prime
Powerlinx Armada Optimus Prime

I may have to get that set you picked up sometime. Honestly when I started with Armada, I didn't get a lot of the Japanese releases because I wasn't interested. It's kind of fun revisiting them now.
