Sabrblade wrote:Interesting tale. Have you gotten around to watching the anime (either one) or reading the manga (any translation)? I don't expect you to give the live action series a watch as it can be, shall we say, an acquired taste (it's a Tokusatsu, like Power Rangers).
You watching it subbed (which subs) or dubbed (which dub)?Quantum Surge wrote:I've already started S a few weeks ago. Next episode appears to be part 2 of the birthday episode.
That's what I did, yeah. Watched all of the anime and then read the manga. Sailor V as well.Quantum Surge wrote:As for the manga, with how it's basically a similar but different story to the anime (even though it came before the anime aired), I probably won't read it right away the same way I did with the Marvel Comics of G1 after finishing the Sunbow cartoon.
Yeah, you probably shouldn't have done that. Crystal/Eternal is basically a mostly faithful adaptation of the manga with a small number of changes (some minor and some major).Quantum Surge wrote:I don't plan to watch Crystal but I saw the Eternal movies and felt I should have waited until I better understood the series.
It starts off feeling like a cheesy Power Rangers/Super Sentai series in its early episodes, but then later becomes much more like a J-Drama with some Toku fight scenes as its storyline gets substantially more dramatic and complex.Quantum Surge wrote:And the live-action series isn't my cup of tea because it feels less robust compared to Power Rangers/Super Sentai/Kamen Rider but I know a friend who loves PGSM.

It's mostly faithful. Though, there were some major changes made during the first season that really upset a lot of people. The second season was more faithful that the first, but still had some minor alterations made that folks were mostly okay with. Third season's pretty faithful, as are the two Eternal movies.Quantum Surge wrote:I heard Crystal is very faithful to the manga, though the older episodes were quite rough on the eyes for the animation.
Yeah. PGSM gets really mature (in the right way) the further along it goes. It's very character driven and features a ton of really great character dynamics between all of its heroes and villains. Many of its characters are very layered and three-dimensional, with some even questioning and even exploring their place in the conflict between good vs. evil.Quantum Surge wrote:I do like the more drama elements of PGSM from what a friend told me, and she surprised me with the fact that Minako died in that version. Then again, she never liked Venus back then, and it amused me seeing how she made a younger fan in our group chat go nuts over that moment lol

Good luck. It's the worst season with the most filler and the least amount of plot.Quantum Surge wrote:I just began SuperS today. The meatball head won't shut up (Rattrap).

Funny. I don't remember Sailor Mars ever being a Monster Of The Day.JohnnyFountainS1983 wrote:RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote:So, question. Sailor Mars. Then I would buy Irwin Toy's Sailor Mars. Irwin made Rei Hino's toy better.

Sailor Moon Sailor Stars is the real ending that wasn't shown on tv in the usa. The Sailor Stars keep transforming from girls to guys and guys to girls. Sailor Galaxia is meaner than Queen Beryl.
