Sabrblade wrote:Yes. Yes it is.SlyTF1 wrote:I love how Megatron twists the story. He is awesome.I wish Optimus would stay a Decepticon though, because this show is too predictable.
Though, isn't Megatron twisting the truth also quite predictable? We all pretty much knew he'd do just that the moment we learned of Optimus reverting back to Orion and going with his old buddy Megatron.
Yes it has. Megatron spoke the following exact words in the Exodus novel (which is part of the same continuity as the Prime cartoon): "Sometimes deception is necessary, when those who listen to the truth should not, and will only understand once they have been lied to and forced to see their own lies." You wanna see more about the origins of the Decepticons in this continuity, go read Exodus. It explains the origin and then some in full detail.SlyTF1 wrote:Yeah, but the origin of the Decepticon name has never really been explained.
He lied about it being a label forced upon them by the Autobots. He himself coined the term.SlyTF1 wrote:And Megatron explained it like I always thought he believed it.
That I will say was clever, but this whole charade, and its ensuing downfall, was to be expected.SlyTF1 wrote:That and I thought Megatron labeling Ratchet as "dangerous" was funny as hell. I can't imagine Ratchet destroying an entire planet, I just can't. "Docter of doom" LOL! What an asshat!

What about Airachnid and Arcee. And Silas? And Fowler? And Jack in latter season 1? And June? And on occasion Bulkhead?SlyTF1 wrote:Also I noticed this since season 1. Has anyone else noticed that Optimus and Megatron (And occasionally Ratchet and Starscream) are the only ones who have decent dialogue? I mean everyone else just gives these dumbass one liners and typical, overused phrases.

Then again, when is a Decepticon's plan not expected to fail in the long run?

Starscream GaGa wrote:Megatron's explanation for the Decepticon's name made a hell of a lot more sense than it did in Exodus. Well played, Prime.

Frankly, I find a lot of the dialogue to be quite good. Miko's probably got the worst lines, but it all fits with her character. And her lines in the live script reading of episode 15 at BotCon 2011 were downright hilarious!
Personally, I thin Optimus' dialogue as Orion is worlds better than how he spoke before. In the first season, he couldn't ever speak like a real person, always having make some sort of Yoda wisdom lesson come out of his mouth every time , without any real emotion either. Now, as Orion, he feels real, giving a full range of expression in all forms of emotion as he speaks.SlyTF1 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:What about Airachnid and Arcee. And Silas? And Fowler? Well I didn't really mean any human characters. But Megatron and Optimus's dialogue just sound so different from everyone else's. It's so much more sophisticated and focused. I remember watching "Metal Attraction" and feeling like an ass listening to the lines in that episode, then I watched the "One Shall Fall" episodes and I was always transfixed on Optimus and Megatron's conversations and wishing I talked like that in real life. Big words and diverse syntax seemed to carry their lines. And it was awesome...

With the tradeoff that it's also a blatant lie. Especially since it means that it was Optimus using scare tactics to demonize his own friend.
Starscream GaGa wrote:I think it's best to say this version of the Decpeticon name is one of the contradictions that shouldn't be thought too much about.

not everything that reminds one of something else is a reference.At0mic Cav3man wrote:Oh NO he didn't, LOL. Ratchet's line (more or less) about Fowler threatening to shut down their base, "What are they gonna do next? Ship us off to an island somewhere? Shoot us into space?" was a total reference to the Diego Garcia NEST base in RotF and the Autobots being exiled of Earth in DotM. Hilarious.

Besides, I've heard others say it refers to the Autobots getting sent off Earth in "Megatron's Master Plan", which is also kinda stretching it.

At0mic Cav3man wrote:Also, the Soundwave ground bridge scene was really cool. I kept waiting for him to do something to her as she came closer, but i didn't see the ground bridge coming. Very cool to see a Decepticon who isn't just about killing. He saw the smart option and took it.

Well, he was told to "Escort our 'guest' *off* the ship." And he was there for Megatron's tirad against Airachnid.

The way I hear it, that isn't actually Laserbeak.

Arguing over what a "real" Transformer would look like is kind of silly, since, well, they are inherently unrealistic. The movie-based designs more likely come from the fact that newer audiences would be able to recognize the movie designs easier.
The Optimus and Megatron in this video use the G1 designs and yet still look very realistic.Wigglez wrote:Shadowman wrote:Wigglez wrote:I can understand their look because if transformers were real, they'd be like that instead of the other cartoons.

Transformers being realistic is impossible I think. But if you think about it, the movie and Prime TFs is more realistic than the other one. Parts shift and turn to form into body parts from car parts instead of arms and legs coming out of nowhere. But on that subject, it kinda makes sense to go with either style of TFs because when they find a Earth vehicle to turn into, bits and pieces come out of nowhere to turn into that Earth vehicle.
