Chopper Airachnid was totally unexpected, I guess we now know the name.

I really liked the last 3/4 of this episode, but I thought there were some really stupid parts.

For one, it kinda seems like Jack could've acquired a motorcycle look-alike, like from Ratchet maybe or Fowler providing one.

Also, how can Arcee just warp in? What if June saw the bridge?

And then when she just left the Decepticon battle with BB for Jack, that was corny...at least it just seemed to be drones.

My last complaint is the scene when they meet up with Mech, and they've got the lasers on them, and Arcee revs up and charges...isn't that kinda risking Jack's life? I mean, the MECH guys totally unloaded on her...

But otherwise a great episode, MECH is proving enjoyable. I hope they don't go on this MECH run too long though..Megatron has been too quiet.

Don't worry. The Cons'll be back next episode. MECH just had these two eps to themeselves and now we'll get back to Megs' crew.

i think this episode was great.

i love what the've done with Arcee, but i also kinda wish most of the series didn't seem to focus on just her.

It's certainly treating her better than any other series did. ;)

Especially when Japan made her into a secretary.

Remember the last time a TF show focused heavily on a single character that turned into a bike and how that turned out?
I fear Arcee will be TF Prime's Dinobot/Prowl.

...no? It's usually Optimus that gets the most attention.

Dead Metal wrote:I fear Arcee will be TF Prime's Dinobot/Prowl.

Why? Dinobot is one of the best characters in the franchise, and Animated Prowl was a good character too.

In any case, we've gotten only two Arcee-centric episodes, not including Dark Energon which brings the total to maybe four. By comparison, Bulkhead has about the same number of episodes.

Oooooh, that connection completely slipped my mind. Yeah, I wouldn't want that either. Fortunately, this isn't Joss Whedon, so we don't have to worry about the best character dying on us. ("I'm a leaf on the wind, watch how I--"*SHANK*)

Or a combination of, as there are times where he seems less by-the-book as Prowl firmly is.

I absolutely loved the ending to Criss Cross. And is it me or did Prime look a bit irritated that another human is getting involved in their war?

Silas continues to be a baddy mcbad-erson supreme. I love his character and the group he represents. The idea of a credible human threat to the Autobots is refreshing. Funny, it's what DOTM attempts to be but falls a bit short.

As far as cartoons go, this one is the best yet, with the exception of G1, of course (actually I think this far surpasses G1 but as a big of a Geewunner myself I have to hold G1 to a different standard lol)...character development amongst the robots is strong, and the humans aren't overbearingly involved like they were in the Cybertron series.

I do like this series as a whole as well.

I've only just started watching Prime and am really enjoying it (although I do lament the lack of a proper 'Robots in Disguise' theme tune). For some reason I find it kind of irritating that so many of the character designs are lifted directly from Animated, and Megatron's alt mode is lame. Those things aside though, I'm loving the dark tone and the humour!

I've just noticed another niggle with Prime - Decepticlones. Disposeable enemies are fine for the videgames, but one of the best things about Transformers has always been the fact that both sides are made up of characters, and that the conflicts are ongoing and develop over time. Watching Bulkhead pummel the same robot 10 times without any dialogue or challenge just isn't all that much fun...

The reason the Decepticons have legions of Vehicons at their disposal is so they have an advantage in numbers and because the makers have a budgetary limit to how many new characters they can do per season. They wanted the Autobots to be fighting against the enemy in great numbers, but they can't go about creating tons of new character designs all the time. That costs money.

Besides, it's not like the Vehicons can't speak. They've spoken several times, just not as often as the more important characters.

Not all of them; Prime, Bumblebee, and Starscream are closer to their movie designs, Arcee's is entirely new, and Megatron is a mix of his movie and G1 design.

Think about it like this: You can't just make up an army of named, defined characters, to kill them all off. (Simon Furman notwithstanding) They're Stormtroopers, nameless, faceless badguys who are just there to die without wasting the effort of making an entirely new character.

Though, there is at least one flaw to this show that cannot be ignored: How good it is. As far as how good this show is, it's really only somewhere towards the middle. It's better than about half of the previous cartoon series, but not as great as the other half.

The problem is that it can be really good and has the potential to be so. BUT, at this point in the game, it just isn't being the best it can be all the time. It's only about half as good as it can be.

Out of the 17 episodes that have aired thus far, only 4 of them have successfully gone above and beyond the "kinda cool" normality of the other 13 episodes. Those four episodes alone (12, 13, 14, and 17) have shown that this show can be really good and has the potential to measure up to the some of the better TF shows. What's sad is that it just isn't taking the "awesomeness factor" of the plots of those four episodes and implementing it into the rest of the show. It's like it's afraid of being too good, when really all we want is the quality of 12/13/14/17.

The other 13 have either been "dark for the sake of being dark but with some bits of cool" (1, 2, 4, 7, 16) or "decently entertaining yet bland enough to maintain status quo" (3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 15). They need to break this normality and go into the really good stuff that we've seen of outside these less-than-great episodes.

We have seen evidence of them being able to tell a good story, but they need to actually DO it rather than just HINT at it. Episodes 12, 13, 14, and 17 were compelling and engaging, and it's a real shame that the rest of the episodes are simply not given the same special care of quality that these four were given. :-(

I'm hoping that what was said at BotCon 2011 about it kinda being like Fringe (with season 1 being mostly filler and later seasons being almost no filler) is true. It has potential, it just isn't using it right now. Those four episodes are the only ones I've geeked out at (17 especially--BEST EPISODE EVER!--that was just AWESOME!), and I want to able to get that feeling for the rest of it too, but I just don't.

I'm praying that season 2 is everything that they said it'll be at this past BotCon (that season 2 will be bigger, better, non-stop action, with the stakes being higher and each episode being bigger that the last). They said that the way season 1 was set up was so that it was self-contained enough to not matter if you miss an episode. Season 2, however, is said to be the big story with character growth and plot development. The end of season 1 is said to be a "big" event that will kick off the start of season 2's enormity.

So, I guess season 1 is just setting up a foundation, while season 2 is where the story truly shines in. Maybe once all the DOTM hype and media buzz dies down, Prime will be at the point at which it shows what it's really capable of.
