The only good parts were the callbacks to the older movies, but if this movie didn't have the "Star Wars" name in the title, very few people would consider it "good." This movie had so much potential. They could have done so much more with it, but they decided to play it safe, just like Force Awakens. Disney has ruined the franchise.

HOWEVER after the terribly slow beginning it gets going and the end is really good fun overall.
And it's nice to not have the Skywalker clan shoved down your throat for a change. It's not a perfect movie by any means - but it's one i'd watch again (well the end of it anyway) at home.
And it is soooooooooooooooooooo much better than Force Awakens as both of them start really slow But Force Awakens insults your intelligence more - Now I need to listen to the score see if there is any stand out tracks - I don't think there is going to be it seemed like a hybrid score a little bit Shadows of the Empire a little bit Force Awakens. the x-wing music was very force awakens for example.
Also my favourite bugbear was still present NO PROPER STAR WARS ALIENS OR DROIDS.
Also I still get the impression they are doing things on the cheap a bit in places - but at least some of what they shot seems to actually be outside.
Crikey though they really show how dangerous to the user those thermal detonators are. They have a blast radius more like an anti-tank weapon.
Overall it added more than it detracted - but there is some curious stuff missing like there is barely an Astromech Droid in the Movie... Not close up anyway - even Artoo is shot from behind. and they didn't seem to think to show the droids being loaded - when if you look at the original Star Wars Hanger set there is droids all over the place.
I heard some people claim Chopper is in the Movie and Hera being mentioned on the com suggests it's actually him. But I didn't see him myself.
It's not like Droids are hard to get they can be made and reused again and again - heck that is the kind of thing they should be making to store.
So that is two Star Wars Movies in a row with some curious absences.
Also did anyone else notice that The Death Troopers Transport looks a bit like "Ghost" from SW:Rebels. I was a little disappointed that you only really see one room in the Death Star - I'd have liked some more Easter Eggs like a space trooper or a shot of one of the bigger hanger bays perhaps with ties on the ceiling racks.
The Shore Troopers and Death Troopers fit in OK but neither of them were bothered to be explained in anyway - and I also noticed the background Imperials Barely spoke - where as they are quite chatty in Episode IV.
Overall though I liked it but there is still some room for improvement.

wot?
A droid was one of the main characters.

Okay, no need for that, really. You're just fanning flames that need to die out. Keep the discussion on Star Wars, please.Shadowman wrote:Whoa whoa whoa, hold the phone. That is objectively false. I'm not even going to bother with the video with a title like that, it's just going to be a bunch of raging from someone with no knowledge of film history.

What, you missed the damn Mon Calamari commanding the Rebel fleet as well?
Proper, pre-existing in canon, wtf? They should only include aliens and droids from a movie 40 years ago? What a load of horse ****.
