Slowly but surely I'm bulding up my collection of gestahlts from the G1 universe (with the exception of 1 Superlink Superion). Most recently I just completed Defensor and I am but leaping for joy of the accomplishment.
1.
Defensor: Already owned Hotspot for nearly 20 years. It is the Japan Takara version but with plastic shield. He has languished limbless that way for quite a long time
So as you may have noticed, I made several posting on how to determine the authenticity of the other parts, especially in ebay. Luckily I managed to snag all 4 limbs(3 were mint but loose with unapplied labels, the other was MOSC) at such a good price. I also learned that the Euro versions of the series(the tail end around the early 90's) didn't sport the rub signs.
Then with abated breathe, finally formed Defensor........the feeling of euphoria was simply indescribable. For a figure, unlike the others(later on them)is very stable..........though still a brick
2.
Piranacon re-issue: Need I say more? Despite his short comings from a verrrry old mold, suprisingly, he too is stable standing up though the "Targetmaster" option of his(I used the shark monster)keeps on falling off his fist. I'd be very happy if Hasbro would have at least molded Snaptraps' head black like the original (honorable mention to his chromed sword)
3.
Bruticus Encore: Who would love a bunch of military vehicles that not only change to robots but also form another bigger bad@ss punk? Overall, I really like him. Stable when standing though the mold degradation is really distracting(especially on Onslaught). Another thing, Onslaughts'shoulde won't lock in place like the vintage. Mine was the USA version so sans the launcher gimmick. Also own a Takara Blast-off so as you can see, another incomplete set. Thanks to the Encore release (which included that laucher gimmick) and his back pack canons aren't hollow too. Not to mention the fact that he can now combine nearly all his weapons like Landcross (like Baldigus IIRC)and Vortex can now use his blades as a melee weapon.
4.
Superion G1:/Superlink: The former I got complete pre-owned. He was the USA version hence no launcher gimmick. Great chrome pieces but his freakin' legs are so wobbly.
Plus the lot of his die-cast paints have a lot of chipping. My Superlink version on the other hand is just as wobbly. Plus Afterburner's cockpit won't lock on his crotch(no pun intended). Good thing FP made the upgrade set, now he looks even more better.
5.
Devastator: Need I say more? I'm gonna get the CrazyDevy hip upgrade as soon as I can find some extra cash. Sure it ain't necessary but the original frame that makes up his legs simply is hokey. Still he's still one of the best of the bunch.
6.
Micro Gestahlts: I managed to snagged the re-issues by Takara.
Six-turbo: great robot mode but his chest armor keeps on getting in the way of full arm articulation. It is quite ingenius that his kibbles transform into a jet like vehicle.
Sixliner/Sixtrain:: basically the same with exception of the head and pain apps. Who wouldn't like trains? only wished they came with tracks like Raiden
Sixbuilder:Devastator wanabee. Another great set.Like trains, construction machines really digs it!
Sixwing:: This one keeps on getting a way.
I hope to be able to find the re-issue some of these days.
7.
Landcross:In my carelessness, I lost the opportunity to get the original boxed set.
So I just couldn't let the re-issue pass me by. He was "superlink" before his time. If I have any complainst on him, he reminds me of Superion's woobly legs. Honoroble mention to his weapons that can be cobbled together to form his Earth gun.
8.
Predaking USA metal version: I got him complete MISB at a flea market nearly 20 or so years ago for about $30. Never liked him back then, but I really wanted to own a complete gestahlt. Little did I realize that he is one of the hly grails of TFfandom. Freaking heavy too.
9.
Raidenwell, his Diaclone version anyway. I was so stupid back then that I lost his "pilots".
Though his connection accessories are complete, I still lack the two bullet trains to complete him.
10.
Menasor: Another of my disappointments (which hopefully will be rectified soon)He is the opposite of my Defensor. Whereas the latter I owned Hotspot, Menasor, I sadly lack Motormaster. Been searching here and there so hopefully I'll be able to find one.
