If I ever get TFCC "Astrotrain" I'm treating the figure as Spacewarp, the character it was originally meant to be.

* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Cyb Jetfire R gun and missile
* RiD Galvy dragon head, beast arms
* DotM Ironhide windshield, R hood assy.
* ROTF Jetfire R JTFR panel

And of course adding Overload on top as a pair of shoulder cannons is awesome, plus if you get them all linked up in vehicle mode, he can carry Jetfire. Pulled off the combination gimmick a lot better than Energon, and probably even Cybertron. And I love me some Nemesis Bendy Prime, I wish we would have gotten him in full-size, even if he didn't get a trailer, considering the character got his own episode.

Armada Jetfire is so good, I love that figure! the alt mode is joy, and the robot mode is really cool. And he makes great legs, though i like keeping him separate.
His redeco as TFCC Astrotrain was pretty neat as well, even though it's not accurate, because he's not a triplechanger. But his colors pop really well. I actually regret having sold him a few years ago.

I also feel that toy would sort of work as a Cyberverse Astrotrain as well

While Ratchet did call Astrotrain a triple changer in Cyberverse, we only saw 1 small look at his train mode, which wasn't really much more than his shuttle with no wings, so it still could actually work for Cyberverse, size included

I'm still holding out for an official Ultimate-Class Astrotrain, since the TFCC one is out of my price range.
What are your opinions on some of the Universe 2 redecos, like Dropshot, Countdown, and the Springer-Ratbat set? I want to know.

Dropshot is nice and I want him, Countdown was clever, and the Springer-Ratbat set was decent but of the two I only want Ratbat.

Cybertron Optimus Prime is a glorious figure. Really his only visual shortcoming is the mold hollows in his leg guns (even the Unicron Trilogy was not immune):

He's amazing. Decently articulated, chunky in a good way, his Super Mode is articulate and has cannons the size of tree trunks... He also has the greatest vehicular flight mode of any Transformer ever (another thing that relegates the SIEGE version to being a "wannabe"). Really the only flaw is that the back-and-forth ratchets in his hips don't click quite right, there's something off about them, so he's not as stable as he ought to be. But he mostly compensates for that with balance.

@Rodimus His Super Mode looks better when the wings are configured properly.

The figure was near perfection. It's why the WFC version failed, there was no real way you could improve on it

Personally I wouldn't call it a failure, but it definitely didn't match the original. It's still a good toy in its own right, and it can only be considered a failure if it was expected to be an improvement over the original, which is probably impossible. I did appreciate that the design team gave us the figure in the first place, when they didn't have to. Same with Magnus's truck mode, he could have had the same old G1 mode to match the robot mode, but we got a small nod towards Car Robots, which I appreciated as a fan of that design and character. I'm hoping there is more like them on the way.

Actually, I don't think we could have. I think mass limits and the need to use the inner robot's joints fairly solidly nixed any possibility of a more G1 trailer. I would like to see him with a more G1 trailer at some point (mostly for the extra play features it would potentially add), but that would take the Commander size class. And the current one is quite cool as-is.

I wasn't talking about the trailer, I was talking about the entire figure in vehicle mode. The difference isn't big, and it's mostly to the cab and not the trailer. If you remove the sides of the trailer, it would look more like the G1 trailer. Same with the cab, either take off the blue front bumper or at least paint it white, and looks more like G1.

Nah, It really wouldn't. The G1 trailer is a broad semi-split deck on the bottom, and a top deck made of two fat rails supported by a long narrow pillar at each corner, with the overall affair looking more like the more sci-fi Diaclone mecha than a realistic car carrier trailer, and it forms a mostly-separate set of limbs. With SIEGE, it's the top deck that's mostly solid and the lower one that has big gaps, and the pillars are absent; instead, it has the skeletal framework of a real-world car carrier (cut to the same pattern as RiD Magnus) and if you took those sides off it would fall apart. And if you just removed the middle of each side so that it still held together, the decks would still look different from G1 (and they're swapped as to what bits are where).

That's just nitpicking. If the Siege Magnus had no sides and had the pillars, it would be just like the G1 trailer. The difference in the decks doesn't matter, as long as they are able to support cars being transported.

Having no sides and having the pillars is not a small difference, IMO. As someone who owns and is very fond of a G1 Ultra Magnus toy, I consider that to be a HUGE difference, as are the differences between the G1 trailer's decks and the SIEGE trailer's decks. Especially considering the fundamental changes to how the trailer combines with the cab robot.

Rodimus Prime wrote:The difference in the decks doesn't matter, as long as they are able to support cars being transported.
Well, first off, the lower one on SIEGE Magnus isn't really able to support a car because of how it's divided. Second, the SIEGE version's top deck is the G1 deck's bottom deck with the sides chopped off and the chestplate permanently attached. The bottom deck, such as it is, is half of the G1 trailer's top deck, but chopped up and squished into a tighter space. It's a pretty big difference visually, IMO, on top of the differences in functionality - you're not getting the G1 toy's base modes out of the SIEGE trailer, for instance.

Okay, we can agree to disagree.

As for Master Megatron, I always liked the black and silver redeco over the green/purple/orange. He was never really a preferred figure for me, because even though he was a hefty figure, I didn't really like the robot mode. The racecar mode was good, and the 'jet' mode was just there. I can't even remember if he ever used it in the show. If they had found a way to store his wheels in his legs better, I think he would have been more appealing. But it's a small inconvemience, I guess. I just never liked it.

I like all three modes a lot, as well as the Trypticon-spiced-with-Unicron color scheme. The robot mode is intimidating and articulate, and comes with some nasty weapons (and I would love to slap that dumb big-name reviewer who doesn't know the difference between a blowdryer and a polisher :-x ). The jet mode looks nice and fearsome too; it's a simple change but it's amazing what bringing the fenders around to the back does to alter the silhouette. It does help to tilt the wingtips. And yes, the jet mode was used in the show several times (including a dogfight with Wing Saber); I think it actually gets used more often than the "Psycho Rangers Batmobile" mode.

I would love to have the Galvatron version as well, but he's rare and a tad costly on eBay.
I actually planned to get him this year even with that, but the Renaissance Faire being cancelled ruined that. :(

I'll be honest, I've never actually seen Cybertron all the way through. I think I quit about halfway through. I had seen Galaxy Force and that was really good. Cybertron...wasn't. But it's been about 10 years, so I don't remember details. I used to have the Megatron figure but had to sell it, and I'm the same as you, if I get the mold again, it'll be Galvatron, if he's affordable. I was really hoping an updated version would be included somewhere in the WFC line.

IMO the dub is a better version of the show. It gives better characterization to some folks, picks better music cues in certain situations and injects some good lines (the banter level is on par with G1 and Beast Wars), AND it excises Galaxy Force's big fat screwup of showing planet Cybertron get destroyed in the first episode (which is a problem considering the second half of the series). Really the only problems I have with the dub are that it cuts most of Tim's appearances, and that some of the song-reference lines are a bit awkward (worst offender: "Careful with that ice").

An update would probably end up inferior, given CHUG's track record...

Well considering I didn't think highly of the original, I'll be satisfied with just a new release. They did Prime well, but the original is unbeatable and much better than the original Megatron, IMO, so if they do Megatron just as well, it'll be fine. I sold mine way back in 2012 due to financial difficulties, and yes he was complete MIB. It was hard to let him go, but necessary.
