That's all it should have to do.
You're obviously still in the dark ages, people want to have something that can do everything(already been made but somepeople arn't smart enough to know how a comp works) people want to do everything on their console now and frankly its a waste, comps are more powerful and always will be and once someone has found a way to get the ISO of a game and make an emulator of it then you can play console games 10 times better on a comp. Sony and Microsoft have realized that people want an "All In One" device and have made their systems to take advantage of what the consumers and industry want, Nintendo hasn't even gotten hardware that can match the ps3 and 360 showing how much Nintendo will need to catch up and it cannot even do HD hell it can only pull off normal TV picture quality who wants 420p nowadays? Nintendo is losing the Console War no matter how much you fanboys disbelieve it they have lost since the Wii is only a gamecube with a fancy new controller.Venomous Prime wrote:Why does it matter if it has a DVD feature? Not only that, but the Wii is currently outselling the PlayStation 3 in Japan at a rate of four to one.
Sales may be up but the Ps3 is still a more powerful system hardware wise then the Wii and if they want a decent computer for 600$ then hey good on em for makin a smart decision, the 360 has the most powerful hardware out of the three but sadly no one is taking advantage of it.Nemesis Cyberplex wrote:Kextor wrote:Nintendo is losing the Console War no matter how much you fanboys disbelieve it they have lost since the Wii is only a gamecube with a fancy new controller.

If by losing you mean winning, then yeah, you're right.
4 to 1....that not only means consoles but for games, if a multiplatform game comes out & 5 people buy it, odds are 4 Wii copies got sold & only 1 PS3. Businesses tend to take that into consideration when they decide what games get put on what systems, & how much is invested in each.
...so I guess people would rather buy a "gamecube with a fancy new controller" than a $600 hi-def Blu ray paperweight.
Kextor wrote:.....of course the Wii is gonna sell more its so cheap to make due to its crappy parts.....
The parts are crap and are cheap compared to the parts in the other 2 so yes that would make it cheaply built since the parts are drastically cheaper then the parts needed for the other 2 systems.Powersurge wrote:Kextor wrote:.....of course the Wii is gonna sell more its so cheap to make due to its crappy parts.....
Crappy as in?
Its cheaper than the other two cause it doesn't have all the other internal components that make the 360 and PS3 do multiple tasks, its simply a gaming device, not an all-in-one powerhouse, and its an easy to use and play device, so anyone that can do little flicks of the wrist can pick it up and play (when i get one I'm looking forward to getting my Nana and grandad on it and see how they go!).
And i have played with one in store and i must say the Wii-mote does feel light and a bit empty compared to my Xbox remote, but that doesn't mean its cheaply built.

Well not everyone wants that in a gaming device.
Nemesis Cyberplex wrote:Powersurge wrote:Kextor wrote:.....And the lack of HD capable parts makes it that much more crap in this day and age.
Well not everyone wants that in a gaming device.
Especially people who don't have HDTVs, which would be the majority of the country.... hell, the world for that matter.
Typical nintendo fanboy never listens... Oh boy!
Ok, just cause it is cheaper, does not mean that its made of crap parts, like the DS Lite is cheaper than the PSP, but it doesn't feel cheap and "crappy" (Its made in the same design as the Wii, and as far as i can tell, more or less the same materials too), nor has it fallen apart on me, and trust me, i manhandle my electrical equipment!
Ok, to anyone here that owns a Wii, has it fallen apart, or do you feel that is made from "crappy" parts?!?!
You are quite wrong, the HD market has been alive and kicking since before the millennium and CRTs(what u call a round TV) have been the top of the line TV for years and were the first that were made HD capable. Most people are going to be getting a HDTV in the next 4-5 years because all the channels are slowly converting up and people are realizing that HD is what is the present and the future, hell they already have Super HD cameras in japan.Autobobby1 wrote:Nemesis Cyberplex wrote:Powersurge wrote:Kextor wrote:.....And the lack of HD capable parts makes it that much more crap in this day and age.

Exactly. The Wii appeals to a wide market, and the HD owning market is not very wide at all. Hell, I doubt that many people have a flat-screen TV! I for one own a round-screen TV.
Kextor wrote:Typical nintendo fanboy never listens... The parts are crap,
examples:
Processor-
Wii uses a 2002-2003 processor that no one knows even the clock rate or FSB or L2 of it, rumored to be clocked at 729 mhz but no confirmation from Nintendo on this.
Ps3- 3.2 Ghz with 512mb L2 Cache and a 25.6 GB/s FSB
360- 3.2 Ghz with 1gb and a 21.6 Gb/s FSB
GPU
Wii- whats this? Nintendo will not give release notes on what its clocked at? Why would they do that to themselves? Rumored to be clocked at 243 mhz but again no confirmation from Nintendo on this.
Ps3- 256mb NVIDIA G70 with 256mb of VRAM for the graphics card itself and clocked at 700mhz
360- ATI Xenos 256mb clocked at 500mhz 10 mb of VRAM
On Board RAM-
Wii- 88mb wow...
Ps3- 256 MB of Rambus XDR DRAM decent amount... could use 512
360- 512 MiB of 700 megahertz GDDR3 RAM on a 128-bit bus
Sound-
Wii- Stereo - Dolby Pro Logic II-capable... wow how out of date
Ps3- 7.1 digital audio, Dolby TrueHD, and many other sound and audio capabilitys
360- 5.1-channel Dolby Digital surround sound with 32bit processing
Storage-
Wii- 512mb of flash storage oooo scary though the SD cards are pretty useful,
Ps3- 20gb - 60gb harddrives, ethernet, usb 2.0 capable with flash drives, bluetooth 2.0, HDMI 1.3 capable of from 480i up to 1080p
360- 12x DVD drive, 20gb detachable harddrive, usb 2.0, now capable of 1080p
So yea as you can see the other 2 systems have parts that are quite costly and shows as to why they are at the prices they are and comparing parts by parts the Wii is 1 generation behind on hardware.
