Things You Dislike Most About Transformers
Things You Dislike Most About Transformers

For me, I dislike the concept of Unicron. A planet sized robot to me seems way over the top. City size robots like Metroplex, Fortress Maximus, Tripticon and Scorponok seem to be about the largest reasonable.
Next, I never could stand the headmasters, targetmasters, or the pretender concepts. Mixing humans and tranformers seemed a little ridiculous.
Finally, aside from the Dinobots, Predacons, Seacons, Terrorcons and Insecticons, I never did like the majority of transformer robots having animals as their alternate modes.
Those are just some of my thoughts.

So, essentially, you like the original, '84-style TFs fairly exclusively? That is, robots which turn into vehicles (I note that all the 'animal exceptions' you list are from G1), without any gimmicks?
Yeah, overall, that's probably my favourite aesthetic too. I don't mind gimmicks though, as long as they're done well in the stories (how they turn out in plastic makes little difference to me). For the same reason, I like the Marvel version of Unicron, although he's been way overused since then.
For me, I think a show that combined the aesthetic of the G1 line with the writing quality of Beast Wars and much of the UK comics would be made of pure win. Also see my sig for something I'd very much like to see.
(Did you see how I turned a list of things we don't like into a discussion of things we do? Whiny fanboys (in which group I'm not automatically including the original poster) take note. Sorry, I've just been looking at Koloth's sig again.)

- Animal TF's that get turned into retards (the cartoon Dinobots come to mind).
- Japanese TF cartoons that turn Decepticons into idiots.
- The shouting of attacks and transformations.
- The lack of Xaaron and/or Impactor in the more recent media.

I agree headmasters were just stupid Transformers are nearly immortal and mixing humanoids whom live for maybe a hundred years is just pathetic So when the head dies whom ever becomes the new head would actually alter the Transformers personality since they are binary bonded.Dayton3 wrote:What are some of the things you dislike about the Transformers Universe?

As for target Masters using humans to transform into weopons the human origional bodies would literally need to be replaced. The target masters should of been Micromasters that Transforms into weopons not humanoids.
As far Unicron been planet sized I agree waaaaaay too big. In my own imaginary litte word Unicron is one of the origional 13 and Stands roughly the size of a Gestalt and is not planet size.
As far as most transformers beeen vehicles and weopons I agree they should but animal Transformers isn't too bad of a concept as long as it isn't over done.

Going by the Marvel comic, he's a primal force of chaos who, after being trapped in an asteroid, psionically altered it to be a mobile planetoid and then later modified it to be able to transform into a gigantic robot mode - that was the pattern on which Primus based the Transformers. In the cartoon, he's the creation of a 'mad scientist' type called Primacron, who had nothing to do with the genesis of the Transformers - perhaps the similarity was coincidental? The cartoon never explained it... In later media, he's variously a multiversal Dark God of Chaos or simply left unexplained. In any case, he's not part of the Transformer race.

1. kids, especially those with "anime type" personalities.
2. unicron as a god. I have no problem with primus as a god as I never seen him set foot in a transformers cartoon. But unicron, whose eyes shatter on impact and whose hide gets holes kicked in it by dinobots does not seem like a god. He likes the night invincibility aspect. If he was invulnerable except for the matrix I could call hima god, but as I see from the G1 movie, unicron is far from godly.
3. headmasters and pretenders. I am not a fan of pretender shells or transformers as mechs, especially if their head is easilly lost.

Oh and the ridiculously small Motormaster when compared to G1 Prime. At least the WSTF KO's addressed that when you compare WSTF Motormaster to the WSTF Optimus Prime.
Too many continuities, particularly revamps of G1 when we had a perfect G1/G2 continuity in the Marvel comics that spanned the best part of a decade. Though at least Dreamwave knew the characters. And Beast Wars, Beast Machines and Universe can all be tied into the Marvel continuity. Don't believe me, have a UK BW DVD with Agenda and the evtras provide a back story linking BW to what is obviously the Marvel continuity.

- Plot Holes
- All of Armada with the only exception of the episodes "Past" part 1 and 2.
- Humans, especially Micheal Bay, Roberto Ochi, and Alexis (the last one is the girl from Armada not associated with the first two)
- Multiple Continuams. G1/BW/BM, RID, A/E/C, and Movie why can't they all be continuations of the original thing not start all over with an entirely new plot and new characters like the older versions never exsisted.
- Bad English dubs fan made or otherwise.

Do you mean BeastWars/Beast Machines cartoons is tied to the Marvel comics only, and not to the G1 cartoon continuity?Windsweeper wrote:Too many continuities, particularly revamps of G1 when we had a perfect G1/G2 continuity in the Marvel comics that spanned the best part of a decade. -The fact that Guiltor probably isn't gonna come back ever(figure if I'm his major fan, I oughta fanboy it up every once in a while
-When human stories completely overide the Transformer stories. It's about giant robots, that's what we like.
-The poor animation of Energon/Armada.
-Even more than poor animation, the really poor dubbing of Armada/Energon. Energon moreso, cause a lot of those voices stunk/were generic, and some of the lines were quite bad, it was easily the worst official English dubbed Transformers.
-Prime being boring, and having Prime/Megatron always be the leader in anything save G1. Beast Wars/Machines was ok cause they established they were differnt characters.

People who act like everything in the cartoon has deeper meaning. It's a cartoon, FFS.
Bob Budiansky's crappy writing from issue 24 onwards in theG1 comic.

Prime needing to combine with his trailer or another autobot to be able to stand against Megatron.
Headmasters and Targetmasters. I don't mind the version where the heads/guns are other robots though, I just don't like the idea of them being organic beings.

I also hated how in the original they never showed any generics (thought it would give a bigger battle with more transformers to kill)

I've also never really been a Simon Furman fan. (though Thunderwing and Bludgeon really are much more compelling characters because of him!)
Repaints... of the same character... BLECH!
Why not just start a toyline called "Transformers: Optimus Prime vs. Megatron"?
"I just got the Scout, Deluxe, and Leader scale Optimus Primes! Really, I only have a Voyager scale Megatron so far!!!"
