It's very post-modern to take all the franchises, stuff 'em in a blender and vomit them out, but...yeah. I'd rather have a new story that treats characters I care about with some respect.

Ah yes, like all the respect they payed the characters in the 1985 movie. Oh wait that's right, they killed them all to make room for new toys.
A darker, more casualty filled Transformers story isn't some new thing, or some sigh of the series reaching it's creative climax. I'm glad Bay has the stones to kill off franchise favorites, and at least he's doing it for more reasons than to market the next set of toys like Generation 2 did.

Exactly. People really seem to have selective memories when getting angry about Ironhide's death. He seems to die with a lot more dignity than simply getting ROFL-Stomped by Megatron in the first 10 minutes.
For that matter, the people saying Sentinel Prime being evil sucks are being ridiculous. He's had 3 other proper presentations in Transformers fiction:
Trigger-happy Autobot leader in Megatron Origins.
Corrupt Cybertron leader in Exodus.
Jerk rival of Optimus Prime in Animated.
There has been friggin' precedent!

isnt sentinel driving with the autobots, and hes standing next to optimus like their best buds.

Oh damn. I really hoped that Sentinel wasn't a Decepticon. Oh well, it's just me not wanting to see something original after all these years of unoriginality; excluding the movies and Animated, because those where different from everything else.

I don't think he's a Decepticon persay, just that he works with Megatron with Cybertron's greatest interest in mind. He noticebly introduces himself as the "true leader of the Autobots" when addressing the humans.
