The books were going to be released a week after the toys, so we got the "storyline" about 3 weeks to early now. Does it mean less of us we see the movie? I doubt it!

It's very post-modern to take all the franchises, stuff 'em in a blender and vomit them out, but...yeah. I'd rather have a new story that treats characters I care about with some respect.

Ah yes, like all the respect they payed the characters in the 1985 movie. Oh wait that's right, they killed them all to make room for new toys.

A darker, more casualty filled Transformers story isn't some new thing, or some sigh of the series reaching it's creative climax. I'm glad Bay has the stones to kill off franchise favorites, and at least he's doing it for more reasons than to market the next set of toys like Generation 2 did.

THIS! I love it when trilogies just slaughter all of the main characters in the end! It's why I loved Pirates of the Caribbean 3 and it's why I liked Spider-man 3 (because Harry died) IDK what it is, but I just feel more connected to the movie every time that happens, and it really leaves the ending depressing. And that's the kind of ending I like.

So, when I become a movie director, just know that every trilogy I make, the good guys get killed off at the end. Just a warning. Oh, and they'll all die knowing that they're nothing but failures and fought long and hard for nothing!!! ...just a heads up.

Exactly. People really seem to have selective memories when getting angry about Ironhide's death. He seems to die with a lot more dignity than simply getting ROFL-Stomped by Megatron in the first 10 minutes.

For that matter, the people saying Sentinel Prime being evil sucks are being ridiculous. He's had 3 other proper presentations in Transformers fiction:

Trigger-happy Autobot leader in Megatron Origins.
Corrupt Cybertron leader in Exodus.
Jerk rival of Optimus Prime in Animated.

There has been friggin' precedent!

Seriously. I also doubt he'll be straight up evil, maybe a superiority complex mixed with a bit of Well Intentioned Extremist and Utopia Justifies the Means (check TV Tropes for what those are). I get the feeling he'll be a sympathetic villian.

Oh damn. I really hoped that Sentinel wasn't a Decepticon. Oh well, it's just me not wanting to see something original after all these years of unoriginality; excluding the movies and Animated, because those where different from everything else.

I don't think he's a Decepticon persay, just that he works with Megatron with Cybertron's greatest interest in mind. He noticebly introduces himself as the "true leader of the Autobots" when addressing the humans.

EDIT: Someone's done a write-up of the whole comic: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transform ... ilers.html

Oh, that's good. It gives him some major depth. But the Animated Decepticons where all kind of like that, so it's not exactly new. But I like the idea though. He's not a villain, but not a hero; he's an anti-hero.

I hope he lives in the movie though. I hope he's has some grand scheme that he pulls off successfully, that causes a bunch of casualties but he still lives. That would be nice, but I doubt it.
