I'm reacting strongly just because I'm a little disappointed that's all. To be sure Trypticon is a very nicely engineered toy, its just that you would think Hasbro would want some fan buy in when to comes to scale... and likely next years Scorponok will be a heavy retool of Trypticon. So my thoughts of having 4 city-sized titans to scale is just down the drain that's all.

Same with CW Devastator. He is a great toy, to be sure, but what I wouldn't give for one that is actually smaller, scaled to the other CW combiners.

Yeah I understand that and my reaction to you was probably a bit too strong, come to think of it. I apologise if I came across like a bit of a git.

I think we just have to accept as fans that due to their budgeting, we can only have two of these three - a Trypticon that looks like Trypticon; a Trypticon bigger than Metroplex; and the same price tag as the other Titans. We can't have all of those, and I'm personally glad that they went with 1 and 3 rather than any other combination. The fact we don't just have a consistent Generations line, but accompanied by remakes of the old Titans that dwarf every single other previous figure not called Fort Max is something we're extremely lucky to have - it'd have been unthinkable just a few years ago. So I just feel it's best to count our blessings and realise why something is the case rather than complaining that it is. This Trypticon would have been thought an impossibility in 2012 - I'm not gonna look a gift horse this beautiful in the mouth.

They just really shouldn't have made Metroplex as tall as they did since it is so painfully obvious that making him reach the milestone of being "the tallest TF toy EVAR!!!" was their highest priority with that toy, resulting in a very lanky, floppy, anorexic-looking robot mode with so little mass overall when Metroplex is traditionally a rather beefy-looking dude.

Had he been made a little shorter (instead of Hasbro doing everything in their power to make sure his height superseded that of G1 Fort Max above all else), then Hasbro could have better budgeted more into his overall body mass to make him look more like how he's supposed to look, and would have made it easier for Trypticon to be better sized to Metroplex's height.

What I like about Trypticons size is that his snout is at the level of Metroplex's chest where the ramp comes out, so you can pose Tryp tearing into Plex's chest with his face and eating his spark out

Anyway, I really can understand the complaints of him being a bit too short, but for $150 and how big and chunky he is, I love it and I personally think it is perfect. Devastator is my favorite Titan class figure so far and Tryp is right up there ready to fight him for that spot.

And I cannot possible see Trypticon into Scorponok. I just can't. They aren't even remotely the same with regards to body styles or anything

Let's not forget the cannon that comes out of the top of Trypticon's head so he can blast Metroplex's head while he's at it. Dude's brutal!

Who cares if he's smaller? He's a giant dinosaur! That's like saying I can fight a panther because its 3 feet shorter than me or a pitiful because it's smaller than me. I don't know anyone else but I ain't gonna win a fight with either of those things. And that's how I look at Trypticon and metroplex

^ But this isn't the real world, these are fictional characters. It's much like the upcoming Legendary film Godzilla vs Kong.

Many fans were rightly concerned that Kong normally being so small would not match up well with Godzilla. In the 2014 film he was 350ft (or 106M), while Kong in Skull Island, while still large, was only 100ft, less than 1/3 the size of Godzilla. Now they did thrown in a line by John C. Reilly that Kong is “still growing” plus the fact that it takes place during the early 1970’s, so by the time these two meet in 2020, Kong will hopefully be at least close to Godzilla size. I don’t expect him to be exactly the same, but I’d say at least 80%.
Trypticon and Metroplex have traditionally always been roughly the same size across most media (toy, comics, animation etc…). In fact, as Omega Supreme is my favorite Transformer ever, even I acknowledge his rivalry with Trypticon in TF: WFC was a very…farfetched, Omega Is Awesome, but is no city-bot IMHO

Exactly it's not real! It's make believe he's still a giant awesome looking dinosaur that turns into a city and space shop. so use that thing had to do when you were little with your g1 toys with no elbow and knees. Use your imagination. Put them in poses that make him look menacing. It's fine it's not like comtinously complaining about it is going I make him a whoppin 3-5 inches taller or have Hasbro and takara cancel the whole thing and take it bake to the drawing board to please the vocal minority.

You can totally do it with the Metrotitan mold. There's that fan mode of fort max where you rotate the legs to face his back and fold them down. It makes him look like a mobile base. Honestly if you get rid of the tower, give him a tail, give him pinchers for hands and toss the ramp for a helmet like scorpinok, there's your Generations scorponok.

https://twitter.com/matty0984/status/772272229161639936

I think it totally works for a blueprint for scorponok and it evokes Energon as well.

I admit I kind of wanted Trypticon to be 'as tall' as Metroplex, just so the Decepticons could say they had a Titan just as big. But if that isn't happening, then I'd certainly settle for him having more overall MASS than Metroplex. If he's heavier and bulkier, than that'll be fine. Metroplex is kind of skinny, and there are some aspects of him as a Transformer that I find were lazily implemented, such as his arms not really 'changing' at all (not even hiding the hands), they didn't do anything to hide the head, and you pretty much just sit him down on his butt to turn him into a 'city'.

Trypticon's transformation looks a little more involved (a little, I say), if not too far removed from his G1 roots.

I agree and also if people are wanting to base him off fiction, he's not a Titan. He's titan class when it comes to a toy but he doesn't share the same origins as Metroplex. In most he was built not born. In dreamwave he was millions of years old where as metroplex wasn't even built yet. In IDW we still don't know who came first but if Trypticon is related to Mortilus then it's possible he came before the Titans did. For all intended purposes you can look at it as Trypticon came first and metroplex came later so you can justify Metroplex being bigger because he's a plan against Trypticon. It's takes a lot of personal fanon but it's a way of looking at why Metroplex would be bigger.

Exactly! People who voted for him didn't have him being a shrimp to Metroplex and Fort Maxx in mind, regardless of his girth....

That being said, Hasbro's version is still not a deal breaker. But I don't see Takara selling a lot of these over in the US or anywhere else that the Hasbro version at $75 less is available.

I think his only active appearance is in the Monstrocity series, (though I could be in error)he's been seen inactive as recently as Redemption last year. I'm sure as a tie-in however they will bring Trypticon back online for a modern-era appearance.

isnt that how it should be though? Hasbro makes toys for their market and takara does toys for theirs and there is no need to import on either side because we have quality toys coming from both companies?

That's right...they are going to do the whole Dinobots vs Trypticon thing again. Also just to let you know this is not a new thing for me. Of course I know the original series toys had zero scale sensibility, but seeing the Dinobots battle against Trypticon (who was supposed to be city sized) in Marvel Transformers #27 was an inconceivable joke even as I read it when it was newly published.
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics

Wish List of Modern Combiners: Road Caesar, Monstructor & Dinoking (proper size to fiction), Landcross, Guard City, Battle Gaia, & G2 Defensor. Wish List of Titans:Metrotitan,Majin Zarak
