How much paint is on Ironhide btw? Is it like everywhere there is red? If I were to want to get him or Ratchet, I wouldn't want to scuff him up on the first week.
I carry him around in my work bag to transform him in transit. He hasnt scratched yet. He is painted everywhere he needs to be and the colour match is so good that I cant tell what is cherry red plastic and what is cherry red paint.
Good to know. I'd love to hear updates on him to help me decide if I want to get him or not.

From what I hear, the paint is fine. its the chrome that can war easily. I dont care but it seems like you would. My advice is simple: if you can afford it and you want it, buy it.

I don't care as much about the chrome as the colored paint. When the chrome wears, at the worst it looks like some vehicles when the shiny metal/chrome wears. Hot Rodimus almost seems to be built more for play than Ironhide since it seems to have less colored paint and more colored plastic from what I've heard.
The only part I worry about more than the paint is the hands. I'd probably get the Dr. Wu hands to replace them though if I were to get him.
I'm glad this thread popped up again. 5 years from now? Try now. This happened.william-james88 wrote:So surely if Shajaki redoes this list 5 years from now it will probably be very differet.

Ironhide is terrific, and I agree with everything you said. But maybe I'm just not that big a fan of the character himself? I dunno, I was blown away by both modes and the transformation, but he didn't give me butterflies for some reason. No qualms, just not my one true love I supposewilliam-james88 wrote:Over Ironhide? For some reason, I wasnt going to get all the new MP molds this year but I did. I just got Ironhide and HotRod and Shockwave is in Vancouver right now out of customs. And while I find Ironhide incredible (as a Transformers toy he is perfect, and as the ultimate version of G1 Ironhide he is 99% there), I am not as enthusiastic as you about Hot Rod.
shajaki wrote:I have now finished my (initial) play around with MP Hotrod.
He. Might be. My... FAVORITE Masterpiece yet. And I do NOT say that lightly.
Out of the box, he's in car mode. And I'm not even kidding, I just starred at it for a good 10 minutes. It's just so friggin sleek! I couldn't take my eyes off that engine block or the rear end, he looked EXACTLY like he did in the movie. I got tingles.
Transforming is exactly like Cobs said. It flows naturally and is a joy. So robot mode, first up: backpack. It doesn't look like anything out of the ordinary to me. And Densh, I'm surprised by you being so taken aback by Hotrod but not Surgio. Rod's feels like a part of his torso, while Surgio's is flat out "a backpack".
Flat chest? Sooooooooooo what? Looks fine to me.
What do I love? Posability is a dream. Arm cannon thingies are somehow more satisfying than MP09. Head sculpt and shades are perfect. The hood panels that become the shoulders, I dunno... just fill him out and give him a real organic look y'know?
My beefs: firstly the wheels. They're smooth and plastic. Bleh. And the hip skirt, whatever you call the front piece (crotch plate?) bugs me that it's one solid piece. These complaints are minor, I %^&*#$@ing LOVE this figure. And I'm almost positive I'm buying a second one just to have in car mode.
Lookit pics!

Well I am Australian. It's kinda what we're known for.

It's his opinion. Allow him that much wj88. If not for the lack of the neck lock (which I wholeheartedly agree in as in the HMR Bandai release of the Macross Valkyries which are smaller partsforming piece of mech godliness where the necks CAN lock) I would also consider the Tracks mold a great MP (especially for Roadrage as Takara feminized her even more)
Takara.........WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!

No, it's supposed to float. I don't see the problem here. The joint is tight and it give more posability. I really have no idea why so many complain about it.

ahh, So she is good then, more posability is ok with me,

Track's head locks....sort of. wj88 posits a good point. Rr was remolded to distinguish her from Tracks yet can't have a head locking mechanism? Btw, I'm being fair with the mold as I own both of 'em.But we need to call a spade a spade if needed.
MP-Megs.Very fragile + cosmic rust
MP IH/Ratchet. Awesome winnebago
MP 01. Awesome bluntforce trauma weapon
MP SW![]()
MP-10: If the optics and roof lights were painted......perfect
MP-WJ: What a spicy meataball!![]()
MP Tracks/Rr: Too ambitious for it's scale. Above average but not awesome
See my point?
