There's one toy I recetly discovered and that no one talked about. Not sure if I would have included him or not: Sky Garry!





Actualy there is a lot to be impressed with this design. While the transformation si super simple, all the robot components work well in making a space ship. The feet do look like the front, the arms do look like the side of the ship and, best of all, the head becomes twin cannons at the back.

It's a bit more obvious that it is his head in the following pics (of his Death garry redeco) but I think it works well.

Anyone else agree that Sky Lynx has the best case of visible head syndrome?

Interesting, I had not thought of that. Although it would be more for the colour scheme. The train mode itself comes from an old design:

Definitely. I mean, it's kind of a cheat since his head is literally the front of the space shuttle, whereas everybody else's heads are robot heads that the vehicle mode makes clever use of... but if X-Brawn gets points for 'driving himself' (which is pretty neat, mind you) I think Sky Lynx has a fair spot too.


Incidentally, while that style of transformation is rare in Transformers proper (I think Clampdown's the only other one that does something similar) I remember another toyline was built around the gimmick. Trucks and cars and whatever you could pull back revealing monstrous (and organic!) jaws and teeth.

Also, some gobot toys went all in on that "using alt mode bits for a head" thing:

I think Attack Pack is what we're both thinking of. Some insane designs there despite the comparative simplicity. (wheels -> mouths?! Hasbro, copy that NOW)

I kinda like that Gobot design, as hokey as it may be. Same with the one that has a tank turret for a head and the truck-windshield-faced guy.

I'm not a fan of the "windscreen heads" myself, but I DO like Destroyer (the tank-turret-for-a-head guy). He has an awesome tank mode and a surprisingly cool vehicle mode. My favourite Gobot design though is probably Defendor- I'd kill for Generations homaged update to him.
