Pretty obvious that post from TFCC was just speculation on their own. They have no more of a clue about these than we do.
People are completely ignoring the fact that these are "smart toys" and not just regular action figures. These guys have little chips in them for interacting with Grimlock. "Plus, he can be used with other One-Step Changer figures and has different lights and sounds whether you pair him with an Autobot or Decepticon." Why do people have such a hard time reading articles? Sure he has that chomping feature, but he also has a bunch of electronic interactive stuff in him that brings his price up. And honestly I don't think he's all that bad of a figure. Sure he could use leg articulation, but he does look pretty good in both modes. I'd be happy to get him at a lower price just because I don't really care for the other One-Step figures.
Let's not forget that the list that leaked from Hasbro's website referred to Deluxe and Voyager figures which these are clearly not. Even if they were at the Deluxe and Voyager size the price points don't match up. Plus that list didn't have a Voyager Bumblebee, but did have several Grimlocks that wouldn't make sense as One-Step figures made to interact with a larger Grimlock.

They went too far in complexity before. Now they're going too far in simplicity. A one step transformation is only engaging for as long as it takes a kid to be bored with pressing a button and seeing the result is always the same. Only the youngest children, like age one to two, find that sufficiently entertaining.
And Optimus becomes T-Rex in Rescue Bots at the same time as Grimlock finally gets introduced into the movieverse? They're not even attempting some kind of continuity across the brand. It's completely nonsensical. Why don't we just make Megatron a pony while we're at it? I heard those are popular these days. These guys keep making claims about what they've learned and repeatedly demonstrated a complete lack of any understanding of fans and branding. It's mind boggling how stupid people in charge of billions of dollars of revenue streams can be.

For sale: My entire Transformers and third-party collection. Includes Masterpiece, Generations, Universe, Movie, Prime, Armada/Energon/Cybertron, G1, G2, a few Japanese imports, etc. Many never opened, the rest displayed in enclosed display cases to keep the dust off. A few ads on Craigslist/OfferUp for DC/MD/VA locals, will post on boards or ebay when I have time.

Just realized something. If you want an idea of just how big Grimlock is then check out the tiny battery cover behind his bot mode head in the top jaw. Considering all the things this figure does he probably takes AA batteries. His head (minus horn) is around the size of an AA battery which should put him at at least a foot tall.
You do realize kids do more with Transformers than just transform them, right? Kids aren't like us, complexity isn't important to them. We like it because it means better modes, but kids really only care about their ability to change from one thing to another, not how many steps it takes to get there. Do they want it to look good? Sure, but they aren't as picky about it as we are. If kids cared about looks and difficulty in Transformers then the franchise would have never made it out of the 80s. No matter what we think these are the types of toys kids like and they will sell.

Would everyone please stop comparing these to Fast Action Battlers. Having a couple of FABs in hand, they're good quality full-on Transformers. They're kinda bricks and some have weird proportions, but they pass with flying colors next to some Transformers. My point being that it's a bit unfair to compare those good quality Transformers (as much as people are uninterested in them) to these much simpler and visually lower quality toys

Stomp & Chomp Grimlock does't appear to have any bending backward knee joints in his legs. The legs look like they can walk. Can the legs split out to the sides? The robot arms & head seem to have all the needed articulation. It seems like Armada toy all over againI can understand the need to make the Transformations easier. Taking away articulation in major areas on the robot mode is inexcusable.
