Anyways, that packaging is uber sexy. I think I might have to hook myself up with that Optimus Prime one! (Then again that's nearly the cash it would take to get RotF Leader Prime and Jetfire)..... Curses..

Well, the worth of the plastic vs. the worth of the silver is not the point. Toy collecting and coin collecting are two different things. Anything has collectible value, and, based on historical performance, the MIB toys may increase a little in value over the years, but silver has really not been doing all that well in the past 20 to 25 years. Yeah it may have been high in the very early 80s, but the highest silver has been since Jan. '85 was a little over $20 an ounce a year ago. Personally, if I was gonna invest in something, I would invest in silver instead of the toys but buy silver at its normal price--especially American silver eagles and not a dollar from Tuvalu, even if it is minted in Australia. Silver Eagles have the highest resale value anywhere because people know exactly what they are worth. Yeah, you can spend $70 on a Transformers uncirculated 1 oz dollar minted for Tuvalu and put it on eBay and hope someone else will spend that much and you get your money back. But serious collectors and investors won't think twice about not buying this. If someone wants to buy it and put it in their TF collection, then that's great!

You're not buying this for the value of the silver. You're buying this for the sheer awesomeness that is Transformers.
This is also kind of historical. It's the first time Transformers have been put on legal tender.
Now if they can only put Prime on the $10 bill...

THIS.
I really don't know why anyone here is going off on how this has no resell value. I don't really see Transformers, or anything else that I collect as something of an investment. I collect to collect. I'd be glad to pay that amount of money for something like this

I've got to wait until Wednesday so I can check my finances, but I think I'll be ordering these.

Sadly I doubt any will be left. I was there on the weekend. They were down to their last 2 Optimus' apparently. Their online shop (which operates separately to the actual mint) has sold out of their stock as well. That's why they're unavailable online.
These things have literally sold like hot cakes. I'm now seeing them listed on eBay for AUD 150+++ each!!
