While I agree RotF Prime was overcomplicated for the average kid, it speaks to the complexity of the design in the movies. That Prime was a complex beast because the transform used in the movies actually WAS that complex.
TFA was able to create stylized designs that could actually be made into toys because the show designers worked WITH the toy designers to make things that were not just possible, but were reasonable transforms for kids to perform.
The movies should do the same, and not have "thousands of moving parts" that can't be translated into figures.

I have 2 MP Primes and ROTF Leader Blades prime. Don't need any more of them.
I think the hate toward the figure is a little overblown. There have definitely been worse transformers made, even during this 30th Anniversary release.

true
first time I saw a render of the first movie megatron, I thought to myself: with all these spikes, and weird pieces all around, just how the hell will they make a toy out of this??
and we got what we got...
the best movie megs we had was DOTM... damn... and he never was made into a leader class.

While I respect your opinions and views, please allow me to politely reply by saying this:
the whole re-looking of prime is the sole problem. he was great the way he looked in the 3 first movie.
you know the old saying? When it's not broken, don't fix it?
the truck mode looks badass, but in all his iterations (excluding the goddamn beast era), one thing came back: windshield pecs. this one dont have them. thats the first flaw. He is too round, like if he was turning into an Obesimus Prime thing...
I can live with the whole sword and shield weaponry, but the backpack? nope
and all that blue? so little red? this screams Ultra Magnus all over it.
I am fully happy with my ROTF leader Prime, and even the Ultimate Prime from DOTM is more satisfying than this oversized Fast Action Battler.
if they make a Generation version of this... I hope it will look better.
I just hope we don't get to see a movie version of the Unicron Trilogy...

Really, if other toys from AoE will be so awful, I finally can seriously replenish my collection with 3rd-party stuff. Wasting money on the first toys foolishly (IMHO). I think I'm wait for the final of a new trilogy - by then it will be clear what we should buy.

Chroming his chest, then leaving dark grey plastic everywhere else just makes the toy look cheap. Silver plastic all over I can cope with, but huge sections encased liked that in chrome reminds me of those glitzy discount store figures that fall apart after 10 minutes. G1 put chrome in select areas to enhance an area. This just... doesn't do that. Its like that ugly guy at work that thinks wearing a loud hawaiian shirt will make him an instant "hit" with the girls.
I'd need to see it with some lighter silver plastic, preferably with the clear plastic parts in a more harmonious colour. That won't make me suddenly like movie-toys, but it'll at least give me a fairer opinion on the toy. Blingamus Prime is not doing it for me.
Final word - Money spent on chrome should have been spent on metallic paints. More bang for the buck as it'll cover a larger area.

But to be honest, ROTF figures were out of balance as well.
We don't have to go back to level Cybertron/Galaxy Force figures.
I think the current Generations line and FOC line are a good mix between transformation complexity and overall design.
We've only seen like two primes. This being the better one, the other is also not for me.
I'm especially curious about the new faces, they look more human like in the G1 cartoon. No more bug faces I think.
figure doesn't look that bad few cm taller than original leader toys but retail verison probably look better with less chrome,.
want g1 transformers with looking human head in bot mode watch transfomrers animated or tv series, / terminator 3 robot tx & t100 those robots look more human to g1 want trans movie with more realistic bot faces way they suppose to look with sharp pointy edges, alien, machine type like faces watch bay fromers

Well, keep in mind that the folks who designed all of the 2012-2013 Generations toys aren't the same people who designed the AOE toys.Jones wrote:Nailed it. It seems like the Generations team and the AoE line are working in completely isolated silos. They hit homeruns with figures like Voyager Springer and Deluxe Orion Pax with vehicle modes that look great, robot modes with almost no kibble at all, and really fun transformations. Much like you, I will reserve my final judgement until in-hand video reviews exist, but right now I am more than skeptical that this figure in particular will turn out to be worth getting.
More below:
One thing to keep in mind is that the people designing these new movie toys are NOT the same team of people who worked on the previous movie toys. Not even the same people who worked on the pre-2014 Prime Beast Hunters toys. Aaron Archer's gone, Rik Alvarez is gone, Joe Kyde is gone, Eric Siebenaler is gone, etc. etc.
The first toys we've seen to come out of this new design team are the 2014 upscaled Cyberverse Beast Hunters toys (all the recent Generations were designed by the old team), so there's no way to say for certain that this team has the same level of capability as the old team. Hasbro might have even brought in these people because of their ability to make simpler designs.
Even though it's still the same company behind these toys as the one behind the toys of yesteryears, the inmates are no longer running the asylum.

I'm fine with the Star Wars Saga Legends having like 5 points of articulation, because at least Star Wars fans get the Black Series. Our equivalent isn't even close to the quality of the Black Series.

Blitzwing, Whirl, Doubledealer, those halfass minicons, Skids.
But no. Those figures are sooooooooo cool.

Excuse me if I'd prefer to be able to convert my figure back and forth without needing to roll out a mile long manual to get it from point A to point B.

If hasbro had to sacrifice some good looks in terms of Coming out with this New Back Pack wearing Optimus in order to make the transformation easier then I aprove. Yeah the concept of complex well detailed and articulated movie figures is great and all and I LOVE rotf fallen figures and some of the dotm figures but Basically:
Them things Were Extremely, let me repeat myself Extremely hard to transform even with directions and watching a YouTube how to transform vidoe at the same time. And I'm a highly intelligent magician. Not to mention that im a adult and not a 7 year old kid who really has almost no chance of transforming rotf leader prime, without the chances of it getting permanently stuck between trensformation. At least this new Back Pack Optimus isn't as simple as them new oversized tfp beast hunters voyagers.
Bumblebee: You are rite Optimus, your compassion and courage is what makes you a great leader, bearer of the matrix.
Grimlock: I will Crush the Decepticons, I will Destroy, Dinobots transform, I'm ready for anything, Attaaaaack, No survivorsssssss.

You guys likin' on this are funny. I can't wait to get mine next week!
Here, I fixed that for you. I suppose we are all kind of funny then.
I second that, don't know where all the hate is coming from.
Why, it's coming from my keyboard. Though there isn't actually any movie related hate as such, since IMO even that previous movie Prime actually looks alot better than this one. This just doen't seem worth buying.
You want more G1 likeness, go buy Masterpiece or Generations.
I will, thanks. But then again I already have all the CHUG and MP figures worth buying. I suppose I have to give rest of my money to 3rd party gauys since they do figures I would like to have.
I don't care how much Collectors don't like the fact that Hasbro are...
Yes, and thus I don't care about cr*p like this, since I'm a collector (not that every collector has necessarily the same taste, mind you).
Why can't we expect the same balance of quality, accurate appearances, and transformation fun from movie figures that we've been getting from other lines? It need not be one-or-the-other.
Good question, but I don't really know. Beats me.

Not to mention just how downright vague those instructions were. So much so that Takara had to completely redo them from the ground up for their release of the ROTF Leader Prime figure so as to make them more comprehensible.PrymeStriker wrote:ZackRoyer wrote:It is not RoTF that is hard to transform, it is people who ,saying politely, aren't smart enought to transform (feel free to feel offended, i don't care).
