If you have any of the old Supreme class toys from the Unicron Trilogy, I'd appreciate any size comparison pics with Star OP. ;)^

I have to see if they're anywhere I can actually get to them. I think I have a Unicron or Cybertron Metroplex handy.

Edit: Was able to easily pull out 2010 Unicron, I'll have pictures up in the morning. Just eyeballing them they're the same size, but Unicron is upstairs and Prime is still in the living room.

Here we go. No, I couldn't be bothered to dust Unicron off:

A few thoughts:

  • He doesn't feal like a complete figure without his tracks on and his transport things in his leg. Without those he's very lightweight thanks to being so hollow otherwise.
  • Definitely has Titan ratchet joints, they are VERY loud!
  • The transport can't be slid into, "drive" into, the leg, you have to open his leg and plug it inside very awkwardly. The door is plenty big enough for it to slide into, but it's blocked by big rectangular pegs. The pegs should have been a rail that the transport to slide onto instead of pegged onto.
  • He should have come with two transports, especially since there's no sign of Sky Garry and Grandus in 2026.
  • His articulation is a little limited, his knees don't even bed 90 degrees even without the tracks.
  • I really like the new transformation steps compared to the original, his alt mode is much more solid now. I like the way the fists have to be slid out, flipped and put back in.

More if I think about it.

Wow! He's roughly the same height as Supreme class Cheetor with his legs fully bent rather than extended.

I know there's people who will think he's just an overpriced Commander based on the size of the box, so here he is with Siege Jetfire to show just how big he really is.

Yes, regular Amazon, shipped out of MO via UPS which is quite far from me.

Really happy to finally see again Venom/Venin, yet what really caught my eye was Flatline. As for the Primes, Onyx aside I am really unimpressed, especially by Alpha Trion.

Star Convoy is cool, but I thought it would be a little bigger. Interestingly though, the last time we had a UT Supreme Class toy (IIRC) was the Primus recolor for TLK in 2017, which oddly enough was a whopping $150. Even for a TRU exclusive, I remember people being outraged at how overpriced it was. From $50 in 2006 to $150.00 in 2017. However, while Star Convoy has all the expected articulation of a modern TF, Id still say it was less complex than Cybertron Primus, thus I guess why Hasbro couldn't justify charging more for SC in 2025.

We saw from this news post how tall he is compared to Superion (who is of comparative height to Menasor) back when the toy was first unveiled:

And this other news post also from back then said he's 15 inches tall.

Personally would have preferred him a little smaller, but other people had visions of him being 2 feet tall for whatever reason I still don't understand. At best he's the same size as Powermaster Prime in the art we've seen.

Yeah, I never saw him as being a city-sized giant. He always struck me as being in the same realm of height as God Ginrai, Star Saber, and Dai Atlas, fitting in that era of JG1 having Japanese-influenced ultimate-form Super Robots as Autobot leaders.

Honestly, I thought Star Convoy should have been done as a CC. And since he was announced as a "Small Titan" I never expected him to be as big as the others. But Devastator, Predaking and Tidal Wave are all 18 inches. I know I was in the minority thinking Tidal Wave wa also oversized and overpriced, which is why I never got him ( the first Titan I passed on). I figured for the price of $150,even though Star Convoy would not have the weight or complexity of a combiner, or Tidal Wave, he would be about the same size. Just shows I was right in my desire all along: a $90 CC would have worked just fine.

As much as I really enjoy this version of Optimus,I guess I'll wait for a sale, or just pass altogether, I have the TT selects after all, while it's not the best, it works well with Super Megatron

I still don't like the leg proportions and some of the design elements but I still would've got this if it's priced at CC and about 12 inches, as I like to support the "play pattern" this figure got. It's uncommon for a non-Citybot TF figure.

People wanting a 2 feet tall Star Convoy/OP must've wanted it to scale with a normal (Deluxe) sized Hot Rod... it's insane, but makes sense in its own way. That could work in a HasLab -- though with a higher chance to fail than succeed imo -- but definitely not retail.

I'm assuming the desire for a gigantic Star Convoy primarily came from two places:
1. The general word association of "Titan Class = Biggest Guy"
2. The fact that TFWiki gives his official height as being 45 meters, which is over 3 times as big as Sunbow Omega Supreme

The thing is, that height measurement given by TV Magazine never made any sense to begin with, as stated earlier in this thread:

Sabrblade wrote:It's been pointed out to me that The Battlestars story pages do say that Star Convoy and Super Megatron are 45 meters tall and 35 meters tall, respectively.

Image Image

However, the illustrations in the story pages don't reflect that. Star Convoy is shown to be about two heads taller than Sky Garry, who is shown in the first Battlestars story page to be about one head shorter than Dai Atlas, who was shown in Zone to be just a little shorter than Victory Saber, who is just Star Saber wearing extra boots, and Star Saber was shown in Victory to be within the same height neighborhood as both Deathsaurus and the four Combiners of that series.
Emerje wrote:And then there's this pic of Sky Garry and Optimus Prime.

Image

Even the package art seems to mostly agree even though they tend to be mostly non-canon. Micromasters being roughly the size of humans shows that these guys aren't even proper bases, more like field battle stations

Image
Image

I'm thinking whoever wrote the blurbs with the sizes didn't realize those bots were Micromasters and made the numbers based on them being populated by normal sized Transformers.

Emerje
That part from Emerje makes sense.

Micronus Prime designer commentary from Mark Maher:

https://www.instagram.com/p/DKx9QkLsgVD/

Mighty Micronus Prime has graced us with his presence. Oh how the minicons have rejoiced their great granddaddy, the first ever minicon, has returned. Whats this you say, he has with him an apex armored exo suit that mimicks his every move, powered by the amazing tini tiny but super powerful Chimera stone artifact!
.
I fell in love with the RID design for Micronus right when he was training Optimus in the realm of the primes. So I started there and I always wanted to do a one wheeled motorcycle, seemed like a fitting alt mode for a minicon king, but once I kicked off to Kunihiro san, he had pointed out that being the first ever minicon, he should actually be a minicon. My brain module almost shattered but then the spark was planted and the energon flowed.
.
An exo-suit powered by a disc 🤔 how cool would it be if the ancient prime artifact the Chimera stone powered the suit when he wasn’t in it, it mimics his every move, an extension of his own self but yet still a companion. Now we are 🧑‍🍳 cookin! I always love to dive into the lore of the amazing 40 year megabrand that we all love, I love utilizing references and embracing what makes this brand stand out from the rest. When you have Takara Tomy by your side, you can really make miracles and dreams come true.
.
Lets get into the teeny tiny deets, the exo-suit (apex armor/ early beginnings of pretender technology) does indeed come apart to power up (weaponize) other characters. The Armada minicon logo was obviously a must, and I utilized the colors from the RID animation but juiced them up a bit 😉 Im going to stop there because the fun you will have in hand with this guy, is just a really great feeling that I’ve been chasing with the primes. Somthing different but familiar and somthing innovative, fresh, and new, lemme know if your here for it 👇🏻

I really do like what they did with Micronus Prime. And if that opens the door for some true pretenders like octopunch or something in a few years then even better

So cool though. Still a minicon AND a suit of armor AND a unicycle alt mode. It just gets better and better

Wait, Mark was gonna still base Micronus off of RiD15 but not actually make him a Minicon? I'm glad Kunihiro said something then.

Razorbeast88 wrote:octopunch
All the recent Mayhem exclusives using the IDW2 Mayhem iconography have really given me an Octopunch craving. I don't care if he's updated Legacy-style or if he becomes a Weaponizer like Micronus's armor, I just want an Octopunch that can go directly from his shell design to alt mode. Anything more than that is extra.

Plus we already laid the groundwork with Armada Prime, who to me is the ideal size, and Commander Class Armada Prime is WAY more complex than Titan Class Star Prime. They could easily shrink Star Prime to Armada Prime's height, not remove a single thing and still include Hot Rod (who needs to be a Micrometer, the design team missed the entire point of shrinking him down). In all honestly I wonder if Star Prime was originally planned to be a Commander, but when they decided to make Commander Combiners they just scaled him (and Rodimus) up and called him a new Titan price point instead.

Any ground to discuss or assume a Prime could be locked at a size class ended when the Haslab Omega Prime was funded.

I got Heatwave out of the second wave first, and I honestly wish HasTak did the whole G1 Optimus transformation schtick for the upper body to not only replace the hollow torso from Legacy Bulkhead but to also give him some more proportionate arms in addition to slimming him down a bit. Kind of sucks how Chase was made from the ground up by comparison, and I'm now wondering how Blades and Boulder will turn out (not sure if we'll get any other members).
Action Figure Wishlist:

G1 Deadend, Wildrider, Breakdown w/Menasor fists, feet, waist, chest, mask, and weapons
Nightmare Megatron with upgrade parts
Cybertron Galvatron
Hunter Shockwave
ROTF Mindwipe, Lockdown
Dr Wu Little Monster (ROTF Wheelie)
Unique Toys Dumb and Dumber (MPM Twins)
Reverse Convoy/Rebirth Megatron
All HasLabs (except Omega Prime)

I got my Wreckers vs Mayhem sets in, and I am loving them even more so than I thought I would.

Ironfist's weapons are nice, I appreciate that he got those, and that they are modular. Love his headsculpt too even if it is a bit small.

Topspin has some nice colors, so glad we got Diaclone jumpstarters.

Spinister has reminded me how good his mold is, and I am loving the colors they used on him.

Carnivac is long awaited, and he is wonderful. i have always really liked the Weirdwolf mold, so it getting some retooling to make Carnivac is great. Love this guy.

I also got to pose toy Gears around some more, I wish the alt mode was better, but I do like the mold, especially with the faceplate.
