Transformers Armada on DVD!

Well just in Germany, this is quite old but I only just found it.
The German Transformers Fan site TheTransformers.de has two articles concerning a German DVD Box release of Transformers Armada for 2008.
The fans can choose what kind of extras are to be put in it, on the site you can even see concepts of the box set.
http://thetransformers.de/include.php?p ... d=2&type=2

I think this is kinda sweet, I may buy it if the quality is good.

Man that's cool that you get to vote on the extras.

I didn't get the US set cause I managed to get the import version for $20.01 off ebay. It's an awesome huge tupperware like box, but no features.

So good luck and post what specials they decide to go with!

Till now it looks like the extras will feathure the english dub, German and international TV spots, Blank opening and endings and some interviews.
Sounds OK with me.
Thanks LE :D

Misses the Japanese dub (given that the English dub was allegedly based on Japanese scripts, that would be the original dub to me and the English one unnecessary) and raises the question whether there'll be subtitles (and which version they'll come from) or dubtitles. Rest depends upon price, international TV spots and blank opening and endings are rather standard extras. And the extras seem to be more or less suggestions so far, nothing definite, yet.

Not to mention that I remember vaguely zapping into of the episodes and being repulsed by cast and story.
Was the series even successful? As far as I remember the broadcaster left out half the series and it was never even rerun.

And another question, I read that the English dub was hideous and full of mistranslation, is there a corrected version in existence?

Yea those are pretty standard extras they want till now.

I don't know if it was successful I guess not, cos they brodcasted it at a really crap time, but the few that saw it loved it, just I was biassed against it cos it wasn't G1.

They left out al of the first half exept for the first 5 and then continued with the Unicron Battles, with the explanation that they wantd to show just the best episodes. #-o

Since RTL2 had the rights to the show the US dub is the original, since they always use US versions of Anime shows for the translation, is a lot easier and cheaper that way.

But it may have the Japanese dub, who knows.

As far as I know there exists no such thing as a correct English dub, just a fan sub which is soposed top be a lot better plot wise.

RTL2 used the US broadcast version for Yugioh and Pokemon, too, but the Japanese dub is still the original. And the foreign broadcast rights don't necessarily hinge on RTL2. Deending upon who order the German dubbing, not even that might.

There's also the question, which picture version they'll use. The US one had animation errors and the like and was apparently later finished for the Japanese release.

The sub uses the original Japanese animation.
And RTL2 ordered the dubbing for Armada.
If a anime was realased in the US, they will always use that as the base for the translation, just like Naruto.

Actually they won't always use them. Dragonball was done from the Japanese version (not that that helped), although they took the edited French video for it. Pokemon, One Piece and Digimon are in parts translated from the Japanese version.

And Naruto was a joke, I think it was stated somewhere, that they used the US video (more like butchered it), but translated from the Japanese (more butchering).

Afair, Inuyasha was massacred (?) from the Japanese version, too.

Ah I didn't know about Dragonball, Inuyasha wasn't even don by RTL2! All they did was give it a new crappy opening song, the exact same dub was used 1-2 years before by Viva using the Us opening son!

Yes, Inuyasha was ordered by RTL2, who at first chickened out of showing it (despite having their wicked way with the dub, no more killing or even hurting someone). And the dub, done for RTl2, and unedited video, was first show on MTV2. RTl2 started broadcasting the cut version, about a month after MTV2, when the series was still running on MTV2.

MTV2 did not use the US opening, they used a song for some group the wanted to promote at the time (<i>Star</i> by Nova International, the frigging song was about Cadillacs and London). The RTl2 song was at least remotely connected to Inuyasha ("Flieg durch die Zeit", which Kagome is clearly shown doing during the opening), but it was still their usual unimaginative Andi Knote - Tocyo Pop drizzle.

Inuyasha was never shown on VIVA.

And I'm no ones son.

Sorry about the son, I wanted to write song, opening song.
It was about cadilacks? Never noticed that, I always just listen't to the beat never to the actual lirics.
so it was MTV2 not viva, damn confusing again, viva had Aika and Noiar and Najica I think, oh well all for music channels were right next to each other in my sat play list.
I just zapped around till I found something.

Dman lyrics got on my nerves, should have gone with the Japanese opening, that was perfectly fine.

Btw, have you seen Armada in German? How is the synchro?

I'd rather have Transformers The Movie with the original German synchro, but apparently RTL has that under wraps as Epsiode 0 of G2 and only will liscence it with the rest of the series (which would be welcome, too, but it seems nobody thinks it would be profitable).

Lets hope Animated gets a good synchro (and I don't even like that series), seems like the pilot was rated for 6 years old by the FSK recently.

The sincro was just like the sound effects awesome, if they had sended it not at 13.10, a lot more people would have watched it and liked it.

There is no G2 show, or do you mean season3?
Is the original German dub of the movie the same as the few epidoes that were released on DVD, cos if so I would rather have them do a completly new dub of the show and movie with the stars of todays voice casting, or with the voice cast from Armada.
Yea the Pilot was just rated for FSK6, it may be for the DVD in a battle pack, similar as the Ultimate Battle for classics,

Naw, I mean G2. Here for G2 and here for the Movie.
Season 3 apparently was part of the out of order all seasons hodgepodge.

Naw, different voices, I think it's currently up on Youtube.

Good I'll check out the youtube vids, if they are there, cos that dub on the DVd was bad, especiallly the translations #-o

I'm not sure whether they dubbed them again, or whether they just dubbed the new episodes.

And it has been such a long time since Transformers got shown, the whole out of whack broadcasting schedule left me with some really interesting and confusing memories.

Yea I hate the brodcasting from some brodcasters, RTL2 acctually succeeded in showing 4 different Spider-Man episodes from 3 different story arches every bloody day

And the crap times they sent TF, I mean I was only able to watch Beast wars for a week cos I was sick at that time, meaning I was able to watch TV at 10.30.

They did the same for TF Cybertron, well Cn on Kablel 1 does that, just 20 episodes of TFC?!
Cos you know, the kids won't notice.
That's why I don't bother watching anime on TV anymore, I just collect the DVDs to shows of interest, just imagen what they would do to Elfen Lied, Gantz, and Speedgrapher if they would send it on TV
I do hope this box uses the better Japanese animation and the missing episodes, cos I maneged to see one in Italy and man was that good, + that Megatron voice was just badass, infact the best ever.Really evil he kinda sounded like a demon.
