K-9 is a redeco and retool of Wolfang. Beast Mode and detachable shield have different engineering.

I found an original at a thrift store a few years ago. While it was missing the Cyber Bee, everything else felt solid and still does. What was the issue some people had?

You're both wrong, the two figures share no parts in common, they only share transformation.

Almost all of his parts have been given new molding, often becoming larger, making him somewhat more massive than his predecessor. The only part of his body not changed is his robot head sculpt.

Three of us, then?![]()
Plus, as I have the figures in front of me, I specifically noted different engineering. I didn't mention anything else. There is a Wolfang mold (Wolfang & Red Wolfang) and a K-9 mold (K-9 & Max-B).
AllNewSuperRobot wrote:I bought K-9 back in the day. Originally I never found Wolfang for sale anywhere. In the last few years I decided to collect and complete the mold. It was the first time I had him in hand. I was surprised by the size difference between them. Considering neither ever got into the show, they really put a lot of work into the figures.

But then again, they put a ton of work into a bunch of these toys.

I always thought it was supposed to be Polar Claw that appeared in the show, then they made a late decision to switch to Tigatron ? (easier to adapt Cheetor CG Model to another, slightly larger Cat, with just a few changes, as opposed to a whole new model), but they BOTH had the whole snow environment going etc. Also why they changed Tigatron's toy from Orange (production photos) to white (final product).
(*Yes I know IRL it is a misnomer that ALL White Tigers live in Siberia, or snowy environments. It is a recessive gene that can appear in any of the different Tiger Breeds)

TFwiki says it was supposed to be wolfang

I'll always consider Silverbolt a dog, not a wolf. Semantics perhaps. But as I loathe Silverbolt, meanwhile adore Wolfang. I choose to make the distinction.
That said, I think the most visually striking design would have been Polarhawk.

Be aware, he ain't cheap. The only one I found for my set, was in Australia. Postage alone was eyewatering...

K-9, I envisioned more with a really positive and friendly softly spoken voice. An unassuming badass.
