I think someone already posited this in a different thread when the Legacy Wheeljack repack first came up (otherwise I read it somewhere else and don't remember where), but I think/agree with the theory that the sudden influx in Wheeljacks may have had something to do with the fact that there was supposed to be a movie releasing this year with Wheeljack as a primary cast member, and they may have been banking on the name recognition from the movie helping to sell non-movie Jackies or just wanted brand synergy (plus the BB packaging has art of Arcee and Mirage on it now for seemingly no reason, who are ALSO supposed to be in that movie).sol magnus wrote:chuckdawg1999 wrote:Hasbro might not buy back stock of Transformers but they had to buy GI Joes back from Walmart after ROC because the figures didn't sell if they didn't Walmart was going to drop GI Joe if not all of Hasbro's lines at retail.
I don't think re-releasing one-steps have to do with the characters, but keeping the bucks/molds in circulation. I'd like to think I have a fairly robust collection of one-step figures and one thing I can tell you is the same basic molds/bucks get used over and over, remember those butterfly knife transformation figures? Wheeljack is a new mold that I'm surprised hasn't been reused yet, Hasbro is probably re-releasing the figure to squeeze what they can out of the tooling.
I have no way to know whether you're right or wrong, so I'm gonna assume you're right.
It's still weird that Wheeljack is being re-released across two lines ad nauseum (and I like Wheeljack) with yet another new figure (Studio Series) on the pegs.
Also in terms of reusing molds/keeping molds in circulation though, there is supposed to be Shattered Glass Wheeljack this year, and every SG figure that came out last year also had that mold used/reused elsewhere that year, so maybe there's some correlation there with the Legacy one? Who knows.

And yet I can't find that Earthrise Wheeljack mold anywhere, it's completely sold out at every retailer I visit, and I hear similarly from others like Death reviews above. So while this is all anecdotal evidence, I still never saw people post pics of Earthrise Wheeljacks shelfwarming even though that toy keeps being reissued. So maybe Hasbro is in tune with the market in ways we don't know. We all assumed we'd have pegs filled with just Kingdom Arcees left but that didn't happen either. Not sure about that one step though, I never really pay any attention to know if that one is clogging pegs.

I mean, I doubt they would reissue something that doesn't sell. If they're releasing him again in legacy, that probably means he sold a lot in kingdom. He might eventually shelfwarm if they keep reissuing him and don't get the data pointing to every kid and fan already having him on time, but that's just a common logistics problem.

In the last week, I've seen one Kingdom Wheeljack on pegs. I don't know when the last time I saw the one-step was, but I don't pay much attention to Cyberverse toys.

Yes it did. Not after the end of the line, maybe, but certainly for a really long time during. Arcee alone (or nearly so) on the pegs, everything else Kingdom or Studio Series gone. Every damn time I checked a Target in-person. Repacking ER Wheeljack again like they're planning for Legacy is certainly NOT being in tune with the market, because by this point most people who want him have had a shot and the eBay prices are reasonable. Repacking Sunstreaker would be in tune with the market - Sunny is in high demand and short supply.william-james88 wrote:sol magnus wrote:It's still weird that Wheeljack is being re-released across two lines ad nauseum (and I like Wheeljack) with yet another new figure (Studio Series) on the pegs.

Maybe on the livestream Tuesday all us Seibertronians can type "Origin Wheeljack" ad nauseum. Perhaps we'll get some movement on that.

My Targets are starting to stock less and less of the newer Buzzworthy stuff. Only Silverstreak has been easy to find. For Kup, I had to go out of my way to find just one at a Target across town, while Cliffjumper still completely eludes me. It's only leftovers of older Buzzworthy stock from last year that I can still find on my Targets' shelves, and not a whole lot of it at that.william-james88 wrote:Cheetron wrote:Buzzworthy bumblebee products well stocked at targets? It also doesn't help that the Batman/DC toy section right next to the Transformers section at my Targets has started to spill over and take up more space, invading some of the Transformer section space. Several Batmobiles are put on shelves where Leader and Voyager class toys are supposed to be, but aren't because of the Bat-abundance.

That will happen when one toyline has a movie out while the other does not. The Batnan section is spilling out onto the Transformers at my Walmarts too.

Wow. I haven't seen CLiff in this area in about a month, and the Kups are drying up, too at this point. Origin Bee is clogging the shelves.
