Not saying they have to sell the subscription figures as a set, or anything like that, but I'm sure some people would be down to pay an additional $30-$40 after the fact on a nice collector box.

Yeah, I'm guessing they couldn't gamble on people buying or not. Might drive the numbers down to just a handful getting the box. To be cost effective, guessing they'd need to run a full batch and include it with the subscription.

This based on my experience in the print industry.

Do not raise the price for a box. Sell it after the fact, like Megatronus's suggestion. Some of us don't care for the things and toss them straight in the trash. I'm still mad about TFCC Transmutate being overcosted because of that silly box for her and Rampage. Its not even a window-box where anyone could see inside. Why would I ever put them in it?

G2 Starscream was I think the first Transformer my parents ever bought me as a kid so G2 holds a special place in my heart...super excited for these and when they were revealed, it meant a definite "yes" for me when deciding if I wanted to do the SS again. Plus I have always had a thing for the seekers and fighter jets (Thanks Top Gun lol)

I have to say, I've liked the small double-box items like Runabout/Runamuck. At that size, it seems like it lifts up an oddball one-off set in the middle of the year into something more special. I think that's a solid call from their team.

I do wonder how many would get boxes after the fact. I'd love that option. Maybe if they weren't the shipping box (ie. toys shipped earlier), they could cut costs and fit more in the box. (ie. less foam between, more figures crammed in the box.) Hmmmm.

I have to say, I'd buy retroactive boxes for 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 if they decided to do it. Maybe they could sell them at the convention to save on shipping.

Okay. I've solved all the logistical problems. Hop to it!! LOL. :KREMZEEK:

I don't think the TFCC would succeed if choices were half-@$$ed. I think the club is doing what they should... identifying groups who can get excited about a limited release toy. (G2 fans, BW fans, Femmebot fans, SG fans, etc.)

The result? That niche buys that figure and are excited... and the REST of the fandom says "This isn't for me. What a rip off!"

Most fans will look at the 10 or so pieces the club releases and like maybe two or three to buy. (And dislike the other 2/3 of the set, maybe sell them...)

My point — these are niche releases... not aimed at the "bright yellow Bumblebee muscle-car consuming masses". They're not supposed to please everyone. (If they were, then Hasbro would have already released that toy/idea to the masses.)

But that's what is AMAZING about this whole thing. It's giving specific weird toys to niche groups that would never get them otherwise. If it were please-everyone generic normy schlock, that would be a depressing flop of a club.

Save for the sides of his head painted black, thanks to a misinterpretation of the mock ups by the factory.

I think its orange. Its probably the lighting.
I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.

Looks solid.

I'm both happy and kind of surprised that we're still getting BW figures to go with the 2006 set.

This figure has come a long way, I have all the Botcon '06 figures and I'm really excited to add this one to the set. The orange visor is a nice touch! It would still be fun if the green bits could glow in the dark. The thought of the green bits glowing and putting a small light behind the visor puts a cool image in my head.

I compared this will all the previous mockups (three, at LEAST)... and I have to say I think they nailed the deco. Compared with the original toy and the tv model, I think this is the best option possible. Only complaint is that the lime green seems a little light compared with the figure's more muted ochre-yellow-golden-tan-green.

BUT that's a tiny complaint. They might actually be giving a nod to the neon green in the upgraded Transmetal version (?)

Either way, I too have the original Botcon set. This will display GREAT with that lineup. Cheers to the club for filling in a gap. (same with G2 Starscream and other thoughtful choices.)
