Sizing up my Armada Tidal Wave to Titan Metroplex (Tidal Wave's around the same height as the CW Combiners) and using the Devy pics as a reference, Devy looks like his might come up to the height of Metroplex's belly button.

Jeez, how tall is Metroplex? I thought he was around 24 inches and Devy is around 18 inches?

Now I would like to see those two standing side by side.
Well, okay, it's not so much a belly button as it is a chest button, but "belly button" sounds funnier. >:oP

Devy was the original Combiner, which makes him really special to many of us. And he has had a fair share of foes who took a lot to beat him: Omega was his enemy a good bit of the time and he's a frikkin rocket ship and base! Plus, more recently, it took both Superion and Defensor to beat him, so he's got a record everywhere he goes. Plus he's make of 6 big guys, and honestly if each was a deluxe, he'd be dwarfed by the torso pieces for the regular combiners.
Besides, he looks cool to me, I really like how he looks, it'll be my first G1 Devy and honestly, I'm not too picky. I like Hastak stuff, and I don't do 3rd party stuff, so I guess I'm just a simple collector who has a wide variety of likes. I'm not picky. And most people are like that too. :BOT:

I gotta go with you D-Maximus, Devastator is really special to me, I would have been much less happy with the classic voyager with four deluxes, because Devastator is made of six members! Not 5! And look at how WFC Bruticus turned out! I would much rather have a giant badass bulky Devastator than a small lanky one to scale with the other combiners! >:oP

Devastator is the ultimate combiner and one of the few with 6 members, so yeah, He gots rights to be huge! :BOT:

I was already on team Titan Devy, but those last few pictures really cemented it for me.

Pre-orders can't open soon enough. And at the end of the day, I'm the only one that will be handling/admiring my collection anyways.

To find out where Devy comes up to on Metroplex, hold a yardstick up to Metroplex and find the 18 inch mark. Or, if you don't actually own it, look at a full body picture, and draw a line 3/4 of the way up, that'll be where Devy comes up to.

Yeah I already measured, but I want to see their proportions. Measuring the height, and seeing them side by side, are two very different things. >:oP

I actually don't have Metroplex because I just started collecting like a year ago, and the cheapest price online for Metroplex I have seen is $300.00, very expensive. >:oP
I would be happy with a big guy such as Devastator, who is gonna be sold for around $150.00, much more affordable. >:oP

I saw metro at tru... couldb't justify it. Very large. Looked clunky... yet still not big enough for 'city'... and never had or saw the original... so emotional attachment.

Kinda regret it now... but not sure where I'd have put it anyway... gonna be tough enough finding room for devestator! That pic there shows that my current shelf won't cut it!!!

LoL, he's almost in scale with my FansToys Dinobots (Well, um... for that one scene in the movie anyway). I might pick him up purely for that. Although I'm interested to see what the exact difference between Hasbro and Takara's release is.

Would be a hefty postage price, but you know, if you're gonna spend £600 on robot dinosaurs...

It doesn't help that scale in the old media was drastically inconsistent... but when I remember back, I think of Devastator as this gigantic beast of destruction. The kind that reaches down and grabs other autobots and pummels them.

I remember some early appearances where the heroes practically wet themselves when he starts to combine. THAT is the right scale. Superion and menasor? I never had the same connection with them. They came later, they never seemed special. They were just Hasbros' way of making more money back then. I have no problem with the bandwagon jumpers being a bit smaller... a bit less impressive then DEVASTATOR. And the idea that it'll take Superion, Defensor, Ultra Prime and every other autobot to stand a chance against it... Kinda makes me a bit giddy ;)

I can totally relate to what you are saying....... Devastator holds a special place in the Transformers mythology!

When people talk about scale I think they forget where Transformers come from and the original ideas behind Microman, Diaclone, and Car Robots. The figure we know as Bumblebee for example, was based on the VW Beetle from Takara's Choro Q line, AKA Penny Racers. Those vehicles were meant to be super deformed, hence why Bumblebee looks the way it does. The transforming toy was MEANT to be that Penny Racer modified to be a robot, hence it's in scale since it's SUPPOSED to be toy sized. The original Cassette Man was Supposed to be a toy version of a micro cassette recorder so it is in scale as well. It wasn't until Transformers that these toys were meant to be replicas of giant robots. FYI I think the Constructicons originally were meant to be toy trucks that were modified, I could be wrong on that one. I also think Devastator is a bit too big but I understand due to the historical significance it's that size.

First combiner I'll give you, but ultimate? That's debatable.

Then again, I didn't grow up on G1. The first combiner toys I had were Magnaboss and Tripredacus, and the first combiner I saw on TV was Rail Racer, so to me, it's wound up being Rail Racer who represents an ideal combiner. (Yes, I realize that invalidates my opinion on everything, even things not related to Transformers.

Scale? I have not heard of this scale term. I've heard of relative scale, where animated models don't have an exact size; but are generally shorter or taller than other characters relative to them. But I have looked in to this term scale, and here's what some figure's would look like scaled.

think about it these constructicons were these massive earth movers and for them to combine into a giant robot would be very massive so yeah having him bigger than the other combiners is right on! only the dinobots or omega supreme would be adequate to fight such a massive beast but some people dont understand that and hate everything related to G1 even when they do tribute to such G1 figures as these that are of combiner wars!

If combiners were in scale with their components, Superion would be taller than Devastator. Hasbro wanted a big combiner, they chose Devastator, the first, for several reasons.
