No, you are. You bring it only upon yourself. And you know, I've had good conversations with you, well, one, on a custom of yours. You know that if you aren't acting the jerk, because we don't want to think you are one, you'll have much more of a following, and I know becasue I personally love some of your customs.

Back to Alan...I'd like to know what paint you used on Jazz.
It looks very smooth, and has a great finish.

You can get a smooth finish like that straight out of the gun, or if you want a super shiny realistic mirror finish sand down each layer of paint, then coat it in lacquer.

Sorry...i know my name isn't Alan, but thats how ya do it. :P

Well, you gave me what I wanted, so no problem there.
So, I could get that finish on any color? Or only metallics?
I MUST KNOW!

Yep. The color of the paint you use only determines what shade it will be once applied, it doesnt effect the smoothness or shine of it. The latter two have nothing to do with the paint, but more to do with the prep work and application of clear coat or, like alan does, sanding each layer of paint down between coats.

These sort of finishes just aren't possible with a hand brush and some acrylics. :P

You really do hate them, don't you?
Or, if you're lazy like me, you just use testors sprays and laquer.
Speaking of which, testors has a special laquer paint that is certified by Ford, AMC, Gm, and Dodge. I thought you'd like to hear that, even if you can't get them. It has a smooth finish, and looks pro when done right. But they only come in metallics. :P

Two projects that i spent weeks on have been ruined by acrylics, and i had to start over. Yeah, i pretty much loathe them at this point. :P

Not only that though but you simply cant get finishes like this with them. Its impossible. They are best left in the paint by numbers section if you ask me. :P

"Car paints are for cars"

lol, wheres that shaking the head emote when you need it.

FYI, they can be used on ANYTHING. If you knew what you was talking about, you'd know this already.

Seriously mate, quit while you still have the ability to log on, you are just making yourself look stupid and unprofessional, and giving the mods more reason to ban you.

Car paints can be used on the walls of your house if you really want it to. I thought you said you looked for people who do unusual things in their customs. Well, using car paint on toys would qualify since they are not designed originally for toys. Thinking outside the box to get a great looking custom.

Just out of curiosity Sonray, your love of car paints and loathing of acrylics is well known, but what do you think about enamils?

I'm simply implying that they aren't needed, I mean hell, why not use space shuttle paint while we're at it. The reason is not to 'think outside the box' but to proove a stuborn point over and over and over again, that the artist doesnt' care for acrylic or enamels.

"Thinking outside the box?" by different technique, but resulting in the same end product? that's not thinking outside any box, but a waste of time.

Sonray, Frenzy, I refer you both to my comment about your behaviors in Jin's Ultra Magnus custom thread.

Thankyou for adding some input and more facts to prove Frenzy wrong.

As far as my stance on enamels go, i dont hate them as much as acrylics but i would still never use them for large projects, i.e. i wouldnt paint a whole custom with them, but i would choose them over acrylics for larger detail work. They are good paints, strong and easy to work with but messy and take longer to dry.
