The RID Decepticons were all new and exciting. Sure, we also got Stascream, Soundwave and the Stunticons but those designs were all new and fun.

I wouldn't exactly call "robot animal stereotypes" new and exciting.
To this day I still have to resist the urge to swear every time I remember the word "Buffaloid."

they are new and exciting to me, at least. I dropped the show after the 3rd episode, and was about to drop the toyline, until i saw that the animalistic decepticons gets an actual toy. Those beastly decepticon are what got me into RID toyline. It just feels fresh and exciting for me.

Hell yeah, if the following is not fresh and exciting compared to Optimus being a red truck cab, Megatron being a grey tank and Bumblebee being a yellow car, then I dont know what is.

Other returning characters got fresh new looks too, like Starscream, which pays homage to previous designs while being a new design all of his own.

Even the Optimus toys were pretty fresh and new in design by comparison, incorporating the trailer ala Star Convoy. Gave a bunch of potential to Hasbro and Takara, which they didnt fail on providing.

Basically, I cant think of anything more fresh than RID this side of Beast Wars.

A robot lobster that hates land-bound robots or a robot bee queen that is vulnerable to cold are not the pinnacle of creativity.

We are talking about differet things then, I was only referring to designs, with this being a thread about the toyline. I am not that much into the fiction (aside from some comics but even then its not what i was referring to).

Warrior Starscream looks to be the best figure in the line so far. The guns fixed to his arms don't bother me and he has a unique transformation (his head is in the back of the jet instead of the front) and an "ab crunch" joint as part of his transformation (which seems to be the same for all of the Warriors). My only complaint is that they didn't gang mold the blue arms with his feet and tail wings to breakup the gray.

I wouldn't exactly call "robot animal stereotypes" new and exciting.
- A New York mob boss who turns into a tractor a "deer stereotype"?
- A charismatic seditionist and sub-sonics expert who turns into a made up car a "wolf stereotype"?
- A rabid role play gamer who turns into a sports car a "losbster stereotype"?
- An extremist anarchist who turns into an SUV a "porcupine stereotype"?
- An obsessed gladiator champion who turns into an excavator a "gorilla stereotype"?
- A delusional zealot who turns into a pick-up truck a "frog stereotype"?
- A speed-obsessed wannabe philosopher who turns into a muscle car a "lizard stereotype"?
- A rough'n'tumble cowgirl-esque treasure-seeker who turns into an SUV a "porcupine stereotype"?
- The hungry, body-building braggart Underbite even stereotyping any animal in particular when he's a completely made up animal?
These guys are as much "animal stereotypes" as G1 Soundwave's and G1 Blaster's animal cassettes, and those guys even talked like the animals they were based on while these guys all speak like people.

I'm confused as to why they thought the kids' line needed to be retro-G1. Is Rescue Bots going to be the only non-G1 line from here forward?
Whoever convinced the rest of the team that it was a good idea to make Transformers that only transform halfway should go into politics.

No, there will be a constant movie line as well, so that makes 2 non G1 lines.

Also, I knew we were getting a little G1 rehashing but... Ugh. Seriously? Transformers is so much more than the original designs. I love them a lot, but I also loved Beast Wars, Armada, and Cybertron (I'm not sure what this thing called "Energon" is?). C'mon, can we get a Hot Sh- Oh, Rescue Bots. Um, Red Alert! Jetfire! And other really awesome people.
"Ride in style!" Hot Rod (ever humble)
"Such heroic nonsense" Megatron
"I have better things to do tonight than die" Springer
"Till the day that all are one" Optimus Prime
"I belong to no one!" Megatron
"This is bad comedy" Galvatron (seeing Starscream's last bid for control)
"Ba wee gra na weep nini bong" Universal Greeting
"Till all are one" Rodimus Prime

Yeah, it seems to be remembered as much as the Beast, but for those unaware, that's the line with the kick ass Scout figures, with accessories galore that you were able to combine. Its also the line with amazing decepticon toys. I am not sure that that thing called Autobots is though.

They overall look wacky and cheap knock off toys.
And what's with the name? Why can't they make names that make it actually easy to find stuff on ebay?
Prime, RID, Cyberverse, for the love of sanity. Make distinctive names Hasbro. And why is an Ultra a Voyager? Any of you member that it was more like:
Basic - Deluxe - Mega - Ultra - Supreme
Now they make Mega an Ultra? Hasbro pls.
On the subject: I love that Shockwave. It might be my favorite one ever. I like the Fall of Cybertron one and the Prime repaint (lighter purple) and of course Masterpiece Shockwave.
And the tankmode is cool and different (name me 5 spider tank altmodes)
And I'm really digging Kawaii Truck Optimus Ultimate class.
He looks almost like the perfect Optimus for me.
Front of the cab is actually his chest in robot mode.
I Really hate Power of the Primes Optimus, 7 fake front cabs?
Really? You couldn't give Orion a true cab? You couldn't give
the combined suit the real front cab?
Anyway, so I like the realness of his chest, I'm nitpicky at that.
A little more transformation to get the hands out would've been nice. Hope he's more of a Voyager than a Leader Class size.
Megatron looks like a Tonka Tank, like the altmode, robot mode not so much.
I really don't understand this line, but Shockwave's a win.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it?
Worth noting is that like RiD2015, Cyberverse does not use any of the Size Class names from Generations. In other words, any given current Size Class can refer to only one line:
Generations
Master Class (Titan or Prime)
Legends Class
Deluxe Class
Voyager Class
Leader Class
Titan Class
Cyberverse
Scout Class
Warrior Class (reused from RiD 2015)
Ultra Class
Ultimate Class
Definitely a step up from RiD 2015, which had too many over the course of 2 to 3 years.
