Seconded. I don't mind if it's Fall of Cybertron, Fansproject, Energon, PCC or new Classics-esque mold, I'll take any version of my favorite combiner in those awful, beautifully awful colors.
I am aware, and do have the Micromaster-homaged remolds FP did, but I prefer to keep them as Micromaster characters instead of limbs. That way the molds get maximum viewing potential :3

So these three dyslexic men walk into a bra... oh HAHAHA I am so funny

Thoughts?
I think you got the G1 look better than mine on page 20. Looking back, I think my Vortex looks G2.
Your take on BlastOff/Shockwave is pretty similar. With some tweaks on the mold Shockwave really could look slick.

Is it any wonder Hasbro thinks they can push whatever they want on us?

Don't hate them, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to hop onboard the 'dislike Vortex and Blast-Off's colors' bandwagon. Like someone said; I look at Vortex, squint, and I just see Razorclaw. Blast-Off looks to be incredibly GOLD, though I'm well familiar with how Hasbro's photos are touched up to be all shiny, and such. He'll look better in person, but it'll still feel off.
Well, I'm not worried. That's what Takara are for, after all. We'll have a chromed-out G1-colored FOC Bruticus within a year, people. Start saving.
Also pretty sure Bruticus is mistransformed, so I'll hold off on my verdict on the full figure until such a time arrives.
Color hit or miss aside, it's still magnificent to see Vortex and Blast-Off given some love again after so long.

It's the first true combiner Hasbro's released since Energon. Is it any wonder people are excited?

I'm (almost) always cynical. I thought people would have gotten that by now...
Still, considering FoC is little more than a video game, that won't draw anywhere near as big a crowd as the show, I'm quit confused as to why they even bothered. Unless of course they were actually appealing to collectors, in which case they failed miserably, or at least they should.
I'm just astonished that they fail so hard at engineering these things every single time. Even now when they aren't loading it up with a gimmick they still screw it up. Granted, they were working off of a concept that is almost physically impossible. Though they screwed up a few of the separate figures in design, clearly so that they could "play it safe". Swindle's vehicle mode is too short for one, but I doubt it would have been such a stretch for the combination port to be on the other side and for his hood chest to somehow hinge down to form the foot, just as an example. The arms should both have a way of hinging the shoulder port down so they don't hang like gorilla arms.
Ugh, I'm being kind of unrealistic to a degree. But seriously, if they actually tried, they could do much better than this.
Also, stop bickering about the colors. Compared to everything else you could complain about, that's... it's just dumb.

I'm sure its like most other things that are really commercial. They have tight deadlines to make the figures, from concept to getting it on the shelves. And just like video games, they often miss opportunities just coz of the deadlines. I mean, realistically, thats about all I can chalk it up to. A lack of time. Add to that the fact that their figure designers might go from good to meh to good to meh (unlike 3rd party makers who pretty much "make it" by designing and engineering really slick designs themselves).
And to be fair, these figures have a TON of detail. The combined form might look crappy (maybe just for now), but each part of each figure is just smack full of crazy designs and details.

Else, I'm excited about individual bots. (??)
And thanks for the reminder. I bet we can count on a correctly colored Takara version. I'll be getting that one, or at least the gray Vortex.

What Hasbro can do to make a figure look terrible, Seibertron can do the opposite to make them look amazing.

But why would they need a Shockwave retool? There's already a Shockwave figure coming out in the same wave (along with the new Optimus and Jazz)!

Yeah, why retool Blast Off into Shockwave when there's this design to be made?Gearslide wrote:gothsaurus wrote:Well spoken. I'm actually really optimistic about these... and the whole line really. Yeah, now my imagination is REALLY running away. Still sad they can't find a place to shoe-horn these into their lineup. They look amazing, and having them a bit larger would make for a stunning shelf... and more money for Hasbro.
