I mean, for the last 30 years, the only "strictly female" figures that gave us strong female characters were tied to Beast Wars and Prime. I mean Generation One, especially Binaltech, only gave us characters that were molded from male characters. And every other series gave us an Ariel/Arcee that was either just there or created to give the males moral support.
On top of what Sabrblade said, Prime Arcee's rather strong-willed and determined (especially when it comes to her annoying revenge arc). She was Optimus' third choice for the "bot-in-charge" behind Ratchet before Ultra Magnus came along, so she's trustworthy in the position of leadership. She
can be male moral support, and certainly takes a "motherly" position at times, but that's to small extents.
ROTF Arcee and her sisters were the biggest offenders to the fembot concept. Bleh.
Ummmm... *poker face*
Like Sabr said, I did mention that incarnation of Arcee. Plus, following trends based on the vast number of manga and anime characters, her character aspect is similar to that of a main/major character. Borderline on Claymore, as that was nothing more than atypical to the more generic Shonen formulae. Specifically, replace all the male characters with upgrades and enhancements... And you have either/both a manga series and/or anime series starring Arcee. But they, instead, went with the Rouroni Kenshin approach and allowed the more powerful character (or characters) take center stage. Either way, I love it and she has ended up being the only incarnation I would not change.
Also, while the "Bayverse" itself has many levels of offensive.
However, it did not create the "Binaltech" incarnation of Arcee, which was based on a very masculine looking mold. And her story stated she was disposable, but still was saved. "Animated" Arcee (which resulted in my returning to this hobby, and is tied to why I own "Arms Micron" Arcee) was a potentially great character that was wasted on a drab series (A coma? Really?). Then there is "IDW" Arcee who was forced to get a Cybertronian sex change... All because Simon Furman once said he hated the fembots, but added her because that is what the fans wanted. But beyond that, all of the larger G1 figures were repaints of male characters, and one that could have been a female was... In turn... Used as a male figure.
Hence why I voted female. Because the first female figure did not debut until Masterforce, and that was a redeco/repaint of Nightbeat. We would not see a collection worthy female character until Beast Wars... Then have forgettable figures... And be reminded again of how great it is to collect fembots in Prime. So back to seeing if I can vote today!
