With the announcement of the new Autobots limbs, I had to freeze my purchasing as I'm faced with a dilemma on a few of these for my collection.

Mirage is the hardest choice I'm faced with. The generations Mirage is gorgeous, but I'm also in love with the new Dragstrip mold, even if the look won't be correct, it will also be cool to have two similar bots to match up against each other.

Ironhide seems like a no-brainer, since most people have told me that they're disappointed in the Generations Ironhide. I'm also hoping we get a Ratchet out of this.

I already have and love my Universe 2.0 Sunstreaker and doubt that I'll have any interest in a Breakdown repaint. Same goes for Prowl.

I know this is a way-too-early debate, but that's why we're here. What do you all think?

I wont be getting those limbs. While I do like the characters and would like to have them as part of my collection, I would rather get their older Universe molds or wait until there are new ones that arent affected by the combining gimmick. Take Ironhide, one of my favourite characters. What is iconic about his look is his clear chest piece. The combiner peg would totally change that aesthetic and I have no care for it. I would rather wait for a better ironhide, I don't mind how long that takes. I could even use Arms Micron ironhide to repurpose him, he was decent and had the nice chest. I am not a big fan of redecos anyway and this wave is a perfect way to save money for the upcoming combaticons and technobots. In my classics collection, I would rather have these important autobot characters like Prowl and Sunstreaker unique from the combiner wars limb molds.

Seeing Hotspot on the shelves really excites me, I had gotten all the Deluxe from his wave from BBTS, but didn't get him. I am really excited to find both he and Groove (My opinion on Groove has done a 180, and I'm looking forward to him) at retail.

To add to WJ's last post on page 319, patience is a virtue. Just wait for TRU.ca to get them in stock (Hotspot/Cyc alreay have). Then you buy the lot of them for Canadian retail and free shipping. If I don't see them in store, that's what I plan to do.

Same here :) And if you have rain checks, you can present them at a local store and ask to get your money back on the extra you paid by not being able to use the rain checks online.

Although, actually, you're probably right... Obviously, the G1 toy was red, and it looks like the majority of merchandise over the years has followed suit. The only (transforming) exception I see is canceled Hasbro release of the Scout class tank version. So I would be unsurprised if this Rumble was also red.

That being said, I am glad that, even if officially they were intended to be the other way around, both those Scout class tanks and the Masterpiece cassettes have allowed for the possibility of the blue one having pile drivers. In the case of the Scout class tanks, of course, they were built into the mold. So it would have been hard to do otherwise.

If this Rumble is, as rumored, a recolor of Groove, I doubt he will include any pile driver gimmick, though. So if a Frenzy hopefully follows eventually, the lack of pile drivers should make it just as easy for anyone so inclined to mentally swap the two.

I was mainly being tongue in cheek. I'll be a bit disappointed if it is a groove repaint, but I dunno what else it can be :/

I like the look of motorcycle Rumble in the IDW books since his robot mode looks pretty much like it always has, but I dont think that will translate into toy form. I have Ravage w/G1 missles that came with Hound and Rumble(blue Frenzy) masterpiece now so both the new ones will have to blow me away to get me to buy.

Ah I haven't been on the forums in a while. If I'm correct, there are rumors of Groove-repainted Rumble, Wheelie, Stripes and Ravage, Wheeljack, Trailbreaker, Smokescreen, Wreck Gar, Rewind, and Combaticons.
Well the Combaticons are a no-brainer. Will Rewind and Rumble both share the same Groove mold? Is Wreck Gar part of this too?
And seriously? Smokescreen? I don't have a problem with that, but I was kinda hoping for a Silverstreak; I don't see him around often. Also, didn't we already get a Trailbreaker like two years ago? Just wondering, any ideas on who Wheeljack will be a retool of? As usual, I really hope to see a new Red Alert figure (from from his "pal" Breakdown). Wonder how Ravage will look, probably IDW appearance.
Am I the only one that sees a possible Soundwave out of Rook (last time I checked he was an APC, right?). If not, do you think Onslaught will be a retool of Hot Spot, and then a Soundwave from Onslaught?
Oh, and any news of Combiner Wars Legends Rodimus and Skywarp?

Rumors, yes.
Well the Combaticons are a no-brainer. Will Rewind and Rumble both share the same Groove mold? Is Wreck Gar part of this too?

General thinking is that Wreck Gar and Rumble will be redecos of Groove, but we may be surprised.
Also, didn't we already get a Trailbreaker like two years ago?

We get an Optimus Prime every 3 months, we can get two Trailbreakers in as many years. :P (yes, it is kind of strange)
Am I the only one that sees a possible Soundwave out of Rook (last time I checked he was an APC, right?).

There's been a theory floating around that a potential CW Soundwave will be an Optimus/Motormaster retool, because they share body proportions in the comic, but there's no other grounding for this idea, and in the comics, Soundwave turns into an APC rather than a semi, as you said.
If not, do you think Onslaught will be a retool of Hot Spot,

Yes
and then a Soundwave from Onslaught?

Maybe
Oh, and any news of Combiner Wars Legends Rodimus and Skywarp?

Rodimus is confirmed as a redeco of Blackjack, he'll make the chest of the Optimus Maximus autobot combiner.

Oh I completely forgot about that thing! He looks nothing like Rumble! The deluxe Groove would at least look good if it were remolded into Rumble, legend groove is too lanky! Also the rumer is that Soundwave will be a remold of the Prime/Motormaster mold, and the limbs will be the cassette minions. >:oP

I'm in the same boat, already have all the characters in their original Classics-verse representations (sure Ironhide's not the best) so I don't really need these guys. However I did put my preorder in.

Why?

Because they may end up cool, and stay in combined mode in my display, kind of like others keeping Universe Silverbolt and GDO Hotspot as pre-combiner versions of the characters in their collection, these'll be my post-combined versions.

Of course if they suck/I change my mind/run out of cash etc I'll just cancel...

Why are you still ranting about that.

Uh - because it's still TRUE? (Unless you can kindly escort us to all the 'big retailers' that are stuffed with w3 deluxes - which are the ones specifically about which I was inquiring...? PS - BBTS does NOT count - normal buyers are looking for places that DON'T mark up their merchandise.

Firstly, you are just using your area to make wide statements about everywhere. And that isn't true. Do I have to show you those pics again? My toysrus is full of nice wave 2.

Again - I was speaking of the w3 deluxes. Where are they? Only at the online distributors, so far as I can tell. My 'walmart next door' and TRU decidedly are NOT stocked with wave 2 either. Perhaps you're the one who should stop looking at your own local stores and assuming that every other store has them, and making blanket statements 'about everywhere'...?

And don't cry wolf about online. TF source is getting more combiner wars wave 3 deluxes in June. If you preorder them now, you'll get them when they come back in stock.

Uh, yes. I know. I was the one who mentioned above that online retailers have them. I believe I said something about 'hyper-inflated prices'? Does that not give you a clue, perhaps, as to why SOME of us would prefer to order them from HTS? Some folks here (ahem) may be awash with cash and well able to afford BBTS's beefy markups. But not all of us. Unless you'd like to start making statements 'about everyone' assuming how much money they may/may not have....?

Lastly, HTS should not be the standard to judge a toy's availability. How many times must we say this?... Wouldnt it make sense that your store orders more and thus there is less for HTS to have on their site?

What would 'make sense' is for HTS, Hasbro's official online distributor, to give themselves some of their own figures to sell instead of, as you are implying, merely the chum left over after the BBTS feeding frenzy. If, as the 'news guy' on these boards, you're as in the know as you pretend to be, why not get an official advance word from HTS on exactly when they'll be posting the w3 deluxes, instead of leaving myself, and perhaps others (ahem) to surmise? If you do that, you'll silence me right and proper. So if you're tired of me asking, then go and get HTS to give us a ball park so we can plan our day. Until then, I'm-a gonna keep asking - unless you try to ban me as some kind of abuser of these forums. What happened to 'the people have a right to know'? Why start haranguing forum posters just for asking simple questions? I wasn't insulting anyone, using foul language or anything untoward. I'm just asking some simple questions, which is what gathering 'news' is all about, no?

Ah, 'teh interwebz'... One of the only places where business proprietors can get away with treating potential clientele like dirt...

I'll probably get all of the Prowl, Mirage, Sunstreaker, and Ironhide limbs. Like most, I wish Hasbro would make more unique molds to better fit how they traditionally transform, but at least the remolds have been pretty good of other figures. I sort of wish they would make Prowl out of the new Groove limb mold (he was a motorcycle once), simply because it's going to be weird having two Grooves... Defensor will be in a Double-Groove, I guess.

Wheelie in new legends? Excellent.

As for the Soundwave minions, they are going to have to top Voyager FOC Soundwave to get me to bite.

Still no Kickback, Brawn, Outback, Seaspray, Pipes, or Beachcomber. Let alone at least a legends Reflector for army building. I would not be surprised to see Pipes show up this year in the Optimus mold. A fourth opportunity to make money on a mold.

Keep them coming. Hope they do a Silverstreak/Smokescreen out of Prowl, Sideswipe/Red Alert out of Sunstreaker, and a Ratchet out of Ironhide. Maybe an Inferno/Grappel out of Hot Spot, and when Swindle comes out in the future, they could do Hound. They all need redone. A lot of the Classics line stuff looks like G1 compared to the detail of the new figures after 2012.

What will be interesting is what they will do with the Magnus mold. No one saw Thundercracker out of Jetfire coming........
