I like Bruticus a lot, too, but he is like 3/5 the same with Defensor. I would rather go for a combiner with different molds. Computron sounds like a good idea. What molds is it going to use exactly? Do we have any idea what will its price be? I'm also interested in Superion, but I can't find its limbs at retail anymore and their prices are soaring online. Unless I go for G2 superion. Any opinions on him? Is Menasor really that bad??

Computron consists of Scattorshot (that mold has already been released solo), a repaint or even remold of the TT UW Deluxe Groove, a repaint or remold of Air Raid, a repaint of Brawl with a different head and weapon, a repaint of Dead End or Streetwise or Wheeljack and repaints of Generations Legends Cosmos with his Targetmaster Payload. And you can add Powerglide to his gun if you want.
If you want Menasor, you should be careful to get the new wave 4 version with the hip fix or the G2 box set. He's not bad, just the torso is a bit short. Depends on what you like.
Or you create your own combiner. Sky Reign and Galvatronus are great options for that. With Galvatronus you even can mix Decepticons with Autobots, if you care about the story and factions.

Unfortunately, you can't escape the samey molds in this line. As of right now, we know that Computron utilizes:
-A heavily repainted Scattershot torso - a remold of Silverbolt
-A heavily retooled Air Raid limb
-A heavily retooled deluxe Groove limb (so far a TT exclusive)
-A Brawl limb with new drill weapon (as seen in the 2016 BotCon box set photos)
-An unknown car limb that's either Wheeljack or Dead End
But he also comes with new, exclusive hands and feet, as well as a retooled Cosmos figure as Scrounge and Cosmos' Targetmaster, both of whom can combine to Strafe's shoulder in combined mode. All of this is (should be) $100 in one easy to purchase box set, hope this helps

I was hyped about Sky Lynx but what about those terrible hip joints? They are very loose in every video i've watched..It can barely stand in combined mode. I think i'll pass for this reason
You do not only have to get him because of his combined mode. If you like him solo, too, go for him and then you can try on your own how you like him combined (with your Protectobots) and the hip joints. If you don't like him, just display him in one of his other 2 modes.

I'd still rather have liked the G2 colours of Mini-Shockwave to be the same as Energon Sixshot - shame that they are not - the Actionmaster deco is so similar I have to double check often times I see either to be sure which one I'm looking at.

I combined him with Hot Spot's guns to make a dual pistol type thingy for Defensor. His feet become the arm stock.
I can't figure this out. Can you upload a picture?

He does have to lean back one click at the waist to stand in this pose. Groove's arm that's hanging down is meant to be a trigger guard.

Overall, I much prefer this over the chestplate look, as I really do like Defensor's black chest. Hope those pics helped, I realise the light was a bit birght. If not, I can try again at the weekend under some natural light. Essentially, from bike mode, you unplug his arms and swing his shoulders in the robot mode position. Then swing his waist down into robot mode position and lock it in. Swing his thighs up against his torso and fold his legs so it's in line with his bike mode (his kneepads should be against his chin). The arm that's on the side of the leg peg, twist it around at the elbow and drop it 90 degree to be the trigger guard. On the side with the leg hole, flip it 180 at the elbow so the hollow part is against his leg and push the arm from the shoulder back. There's actually a perfect gap in his arm for the kickstand to fit into. Fold out his legs like for robot mode and plug one of hotspot's guns into the hole in Groove's leg (if you want it aimed straight, you can't push it into the hole full yor it won't clear the handlebars), and the other in the kickstand hand (you're preference if you want both barrels on line or staggered. Just depends if you plug the gun in upside down, but don't worry, groove will hold the gun securely either way). Angle the windshield against his seat for visual smoothness and use the peg on Groove's leg as the handle. Boom. Targetmaster. It sounds more involved than it really is.

Neat configuration, though.

That was the general consensus... a lot of people were hoping for the sixshot deco as a 'ret-conned' G2 Shockwave

But Beachcomber is usually smaller and more pacified, and that mold is bulkier and larger. It kinda makes sense as Hound with the jeep theme, some bulk, a shoulder cannon, and the military look. Beachcomber would make sense with a smaller, lighter, less muscular look to me

But characters don't always have to be the same I think. For example look at Arms Micron Swerve:

Maybe Beachcomber has suffered a serious stroke of fate and is now a real bad ass in combat.
You can call it character evolution

I'm not saying they should, and I am one who likes change. It would feel kinda weird though, like when Powerglide was ultra class and not a minibot sort of thing.

I got him and I think he's great. I imagine him being IDW Swerve's future bad ass self after he got fed up of being so small and weak and wants to participate with the other 'bots in combat. Something the way I said about Beachcomber.

There was the beltbuckle style and then just putting the motorcycle mode right into the backpack (kinda like sword storage)
