I really like this character but I was a little let down with it in hand. I will use it in my IDW display and keep using my Takara reissue for my classic display.
Same here. He has a great torso mode though, and I thought that was worth 15$ so I didnt mind that.
But yeah, with no exageration this is one of the few updates which is not as good as the G1 toy. Fort Max seems to be that way as well, along with Powermaster Prime (unless they do get godbomber to combine with him). Are there any other TFs whos updates arent as good as the originals? I cant think of too many aside from cheetor
Oh wait, what about Thunderwing and Perceptor?
I'm still a fan of all of the car Autobots from the Universe 2.0, Generations, and RtS lines.
I just don't think you can beat those versions of the Datsun bros, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, and even Kup and Warpath.
Actually, Classics Bee and Cliffjumper are tough to beat as well.

(I put a question mark because I'm mulling it over as I type.)
I like all those toys just fine, they just don't quite hit the mark on the cassette gimmick. The new TR versions feel like they are handling the gimmick much better though. Can't wait to find out.Kurona wrote:Cobotron wrote:Every Soundwave/Blaster update?william-james88 wrote: Are there any other TFs whos updates arent as good as the originals? I meant updates to the G1 toys.

Every update to Soundwave is not as good as G1? So like, including this guy:

You do realize I was waiting for you to pull that question out of your little hat, Billy m'boy.![]()
I don't consider that version an update. To me update implies a new stylistic or artistic take on an older version. MP SW is more of a re-imagineering of the original toy. Looks just like him. Transforms just like him. Only better.
The main problem with the Jam Box bots is that the "cassette" is such an antiquated technology, that it's lost all relevance.

Oh, indeed they are!Hellscream9999 wrote:Still, those mp cassetticons look like quite the treat
No. I find the designs of the TR toys to be very stylistically/artistically different than their G1 predecessors.william-james88 wrote:Interesting, but then does that mean that none of the upcoming headmasters are updates since they all transform and look the same way as G1?
Would that be considered friendly trolling? And yes I do realize that, but I wasnt going to let that lure get away

that would he nice because I never got brake-neck and I want UW BlastoffMaverickPrime wrote:It would be AWESOME if they re-released Quickslinger and Break-Neck as well, for the US there may have been lots available to buy, but most other countries didn't get them at all, only for extreme prices and I would've really liked to get both of them as well :/
I still think the best move would be a 4-pack with Quickslinger, Break-neck, Big Groove and Space Mission Blast Off.
Hellscream9999 wrote:Insurgent wrote:And where did you get those hands from? They look a lot better than the PE ones.
That's why I bought them, I ordered them about 9 months ago here he's an extremely small operation, and I think Masterforce is handling UK shipments. They came on the production sprues, so you have to completely assemble them, but they're nice and solid - and actually look nice, unlike the dumb skeleton hands from PE
