All honesty though, I still find it odd how they went for G1 Starcream Toy deco instead of Red Wing for the calssics mold. It really felt like bottom of the barrel in terms of redecos possible.

I do keep saying this but I do really think there is some merit in selling Combiner Wars branded Vs packs with 1 Decepticon Deluxe vs 1 Autobot one to fill out the ranks and "Main Characters"
if Hasbro would be prepared to spend money on such an idea and actually make a heavy remould to make a better "seeker" i think that would be very much worth doing.
I note that Sunstreaker already has Police lights moulded on his chest so if that mould ever got turned into Red Alert they could paint them accordingly.
Even if they don't do it now - I can see some merit in a revisit to those moulds - or even an Asian Market gift set.
That could contain sets of 3 premium deco versions of missed or hard to get characters like : Red Alert, Exhaust, Sideswipe, Slicer, Hoist, Silverstreak /Anime Buestreak, maybe even the likes of Voyager Pyro or Clench or Rapido if you want to see something a bit more unusual. Aerialbot repaints as Predator planes for example. or some of the Autobots as Turbomasters.

I suppose there is a little bit of merit in releasing the rest of the 1984 Autobot Cars as CW limbs - especially when there's 11 of them and 7 got released during CW. Only Jazz, Bluestreak, Sideswipe and Ratchet remain - of those Bluestreak is a simple recolour and isn't overshadowed by the TFSS version since that's, well, a blue Bluestreak, Sideswipe is an easy new-head redeco of Sunstreaker (especially when earth wars made him a redeco of Sunstreaker without the new head...), Jazz could just be made out of any of the Dead End mold re-uses and Ratchet was already done in Takara. All four of them could be put into a Platinum set for the sake of fanservice alongside Hot Spot being Grapple (as a beautiful nerdy nod to him accidentally being in the cartoon's pilot and hence temporarily part of the Season 1 crew). Or even Silverbolt as Jetfire considering his Season 1 prominence. And Shockwave as Perceptor or something.
Just throwing ideas out there. I think the topic's mostly been exhausted but yeah, totally possible but don't think it'll happen.

when you include the line as a whole (CW, UW exclusives etc...) they all came out sans Sideswipe and Jazz (unless next years TFSS 5.0 "Bonus" turns out to be one of them)

A Novel idea...but it presents a few problems....
1. Price- Hasbro knows parents of small children (like 4-6 the target age) aren't going to purchase something so expensive for their kids, unless they can really do it on the cheap somehow
2. Combiners are associated with the War aspect of Transformers, something RB has painstakingly avoided, understandably so. Sure you could have a "Defensor" type bot, for "Big" rescues, but they already have High Tide's boat if they need large reinforcement.
Not saying it cant be done (never say never)...it just logistically doesn't seem likely.

The existing CW molds are really quite versatile, even I can come up with several ideas based on the existing molds for several combiners from several different TF series. Fans can do what they like, more power to them. But I seriously doubt Hasbro would release official CW versions of the Rescue Bots characters. they are meant to look child friendly, the CW toy line is not geared towards the RB target audience.

The word "novel" in this context means an "uncommon", "new", or "unique" idea. My disagreement with that notion was in regards to how ubiquitous I've seen that idea to be throughout the Internet.william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:In my experience, it really isn't. As for the more General idea of a Rescue Bot combiner - wouldn't that effectively be very much like a typical Power Rangers Megazord in practice if such a thing was made for the target audience ?
The likes of Blurr or Salvage and other second stringers could be alternative limbs.
There was already a large Heatwave made.. they could also make something like the Energon rescue tools that could fit over where the fist would normally be.
I think that would be something to consider at least, oh and i'm not sure Rescue Bots are exactly cheap either compared to regular Transformers - maybe but they are also pretty small - though there is more of a difference now than there was before when Deluxes were not being sold for fantasy prices like £19.99 / $19.99 sometimes.

You're thinking of Firebot. The only pre-Rescue Bots Heatwave was the one from the Transformers Collectors Club.
