I know people might be getting sick of Skylynx chatter, but really he's one of the more versatile torsos we've seen.

He has so many alt modes: Bird-Dino, Shuttle, Lynx, Torso, not to mention...

I'm waiting for my Skylynx to arrive along with Onslaught. I got interested in him both for the fact that we're actually getting a new Skylynx (even if without his extra modes) and for the fact that he has such a weird bot mode that he'll make a good piece on my shelf. Just need to find space for him now. A quadruped with wings wasn't on my initial plans...

Yes it is.

Which means that he can have a cannon or a hulk hand. Sweet.

Or an axe-hand!

Sadly the Ax doesn't peg in well. Also keep in mind there is some detail in the barrel so I wouldn't recommend using it as a port.

You make me sad! Putting the combiner fist in Trailbreaker's gun arm port to make a giant robot fist was one of the things I was looking forward to the most with him. This is even more important than Rook's ability to do it because Trailbreaker still has a normal hand on the other side.

This is an awesome and extremely cool idea...now mind you in the comics he's dead But this would still be awesome if it did happen!

I have been holding my tongue for many many months and finally its welling up inside to the point i have to spit it out.
Both lines that are out rkght now completly SUCK.
The combiner wars toys are so simple to transform that i can literally look at the toy in the package and figure out how it transforms. Not to mention every arm and leg (what 12 different color options now?) Transform the exact same. The torso pieces are all EXACTLY the same with different colors. With the exception of the recent Skylinx. Every toy is boxy and square and has terrible lines. They dont look nice transform nice or have a nice price tag. $14+ for that is an outrage.
And the other line based on the cartoon. You can tell how much attention ive given them. They are like a fricken participation medal- useless. Not every kid needs to feel like a genius for completling the transformation. Bumblebee changes in 7 steps! One step seperate trunk down middle...congrats you have his legs. Step 2 pull left door outwards, congrats u have his left arm. Step three Pull right door out, now u have right arm. Step 4 flip hood down. Step 5 pull up head. My personal favorite step 6 "spin the head so its facing forward". Step 7 unplug gun from body. I mean....really? Wheres the fun in that? They are not even making any voyager class figures either? Just 1 giant bumblebee that feels like he is made out of paper mache and is something like a 4 step conversion. $14, $16, $22, $25....really cheap crappy figures for $2 more than challenging/puzzling ones with decent molds and materials.
When will these lines die out so we can get good toys again?

Personally I am glad that the figures are so simple in Combiner Wars. They LOOK very good, and are wonderfully engineered for simple figures. You have to consider the fact that all of these are meant to be put together as combiners, and Hasbro decided to take it easy on us and make them simpler so that they don't take 2 hours to put in their gestalt modes. You also have to realize he price point. They had to put a lot of the budget of these less in the transformation, and more into the combiner ports and ratchets to make a sturdy combined mode. This line also is meant to be like an updated G1 line with g1-like figures that correctly homage and function as the original toys without giving up the quality too much. If you want more complicated transformations, get the cheap AOE figures. Personally I find this line ideal for the g1 fan. Even Dragstrip has the extending legs that a lot of the g1 toys did! All in all Hasbro did an excellent job on this line and I cannot gush enough.

I'm here too. too complex is nice for looks but terrible for fun, and I like fun figures. I like both lines. They work and I have fun with them! Keep it up like this!

Combiner Wars is a love letter to those of us who remember the G1 combiners fondly. It's mostly well written, but not without its typos. Certain sacrifices such as repetition had to be made to have it work within everyone's budgets. Hasbro's as well as our own. You gotta accept that not every figure made is going to make you happy.
I have next to no knowledge about the RiD line because it simply doesn't appeal to me, and that's fine. I'm probably not the intended audience. I don't take offense that those figures exist.
If you're going to criticize then do it in a way that doesn't shut down the conversation before it starts. Saying they all suck and every figure is the same simply isn't true. If you want to talk specifics then go ahead, we've all expressed our disappointments in certain figures in the line at one point or another.

Kids these days don't want complex puzzle toys. They want video games and Netflix and everything quick-and-easy. Hasbro's just keeping up with the trending times that us old farts aren't a major part of anymore.

That's a matter of opinion. It all depends on what qualities you look for in a figure and/or line. You each have your opinions, please respect them.

Again, complex transformations are puzzles to me, not toys. I prefer for my combiners to be fun and easy to play with and put together.

I totally get why some wouldn't like the CW line, people have voiced their reasons before and it's understandable. We all have preferences. Like I said I don't care for RiD but I don't go around telling people the figures suck. I don't think they do btw, they're nice looking bots, but it's not what I want for my collection. Just trying to pull the convo away from bashing entire lines of figures. No harm intended.


Personally, my biggest gripe with Combiner Wars is their peg chests, with some bots having hollow legs being a close second. Most figures have that visible block in the center. It irks me a little but I tend to look past it. I'll probably partially paint them eventually so it's not as noticeable in bot mode.
