I saw Pipes, Buzzsaw, and Chop Shop at my Target, too, (no Shockwave tho). But since I'm in Jersey, I just assumed they've been seen everywhere else for months already.

Kinda surprised Target had something besides Groove...

well dang. they had them here in Seneca, SC a week ago but I didn't think to report them because I figured we were last in getting them...like we usually are.
I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.

I found the wave about 2 weeks ago in Des Moines Iowa and picked up the whole set. I have to say this is a first for me but they were all extremely bland. I've been looking for shockwave forever and finally got him and the only one out of the set that 'wowed' me was pipes and he's just a recolor of Huffer. I like shockwave and chop shop but Buzzsaw is way too big and kinda just...meh. Maybe my opinion will change when Soundwave is out.

I hate to say this - all the cassetticons shown thus far for Titan\Combiner Wars so far have been awful. The original Microchange figures managed to get some rather sleek, nice animal and robot modes from a much thinner design - would it really have been so hard to do something similar that was a phone?

Death, I think you might be overselling the quality of the sticker. I know mine is already looking ragged on the edges after transforming it a couple of times. It probably wasn't a good idea to have three stickers that need to be lined up correctly and smooth to make one of the modes look good.

thats pretty much what decided me too. Too big and bulky and not bird enough. Soundwave may change my mind but I am really doubting it.

Would you mind elaborating on why you find Pipes fun and are not wowed by Shockwave? I love opinions which clash with what I heard pervious and since i dont have either (they didnt apepar in canada yet), I am really curious to know what you think of these.

I completly agree. I dont get how hings could be so off course. But the Rumble/Rewind robot is fine, no? Its more the animals that suffer.

He looked ok... but then I went back to the original G1.

So we have this... phone... tank... guy
Image
and this... cassette... guy..
Image

and in all honesty - G1 Rumble still wins this hands down for me. The alt-mode looks like its supposed to and the the robot mode doesn't have alt-mode stuff getting in the way (like on Titan Wars' fists, for example).

Making the tiny rectangle a triple-changer was a total mistake, IMO. The phone\block doesn't really look much like anything and the tank itself only scrapes a pass and the whole process has meant the robot mode now lacks anything really resembling a forearm.

Its very rare I look at new figures and think "the G1 is objectively better", but this is one such example

I feel that was about Sky lynx as well. Not sure about Fortress Maximus, but the fact that him beinga remold gets in the way fo him having his standard alt mode works against him in my book.

Honestly Will I think it's because of MTMTE. I've wanted a pipes forever 1. Because of his character in the comics and 2. I've always enjoyed him even back in the old cartoon. He's the only guy to tell Blurr to shut up lol.

Even though he is just a redeco he's pipes! It's cool to have one. I'd like to maketoys make a MTMTE pips like they did with swerve and tailgate. I don't collect 3rd parties anymore but if it's something not too expensive and related to the comics I'd make an exception.

You're kidding right? Every Buzzsaw I've seen has it's stickers peeling in package already, it was a complete mistake, and is worth skipping all the cassetticons for :BANG_HEAD:

People love that toy? I mean, don't get me wrong, the vehicle mode kicks arse and I'd love to see the toy get a modern update, but he looks really weird in robot mode, probably due to having to form half a combiner.

i dunno about that, coz most or nearly all versions of Fort Max(G1, Kabaya, KO, Infinitor) can form that weird city mode + the only reason(apart from the metroplex mold not allowing for it to turn into the standard city mode) was coz that weird city mode was featured in some old transformers toy catalogue. And remember! Infinitor has a weird alt city mode too!(which comes as standard & is featured in the instructions & on the box).

Apparently, must have something to do with being rodimus, but I was half joking too; I mean, he makes a great set of legs in combined mode, but that's it...

Firstly, I, like most everybody else, have seen this wave in stores already. Not to sound unappreciative, but I guess nobody remembered to report the initial sighting and we all just assumed someone else had, because these have been out for a few weeks, bordering on a month.

Secondly, Va'al, we have a Combiner Wars Legends Class discussion thread for this. ;)

We also have a Leader Class thread that the Megatron conversation a few days ago should have gone in. ;)

AND there's a separate Devastator topic.

Whose idea was this?

So you think we will be able to give Fort Max his actual city mold?

Its not just that though, there are a few more things that make the G1 a tad bit superior, at least in that mode. The ramps on his arms are folded to that you can unfold them and not only add the playability of having small cars go up them but it also hides his fists. This new one doesnt. So the cars cant go down the ramps (s then what is the use of them?!) and the fists ar right there in the open.
