Brawl looks nice and solid. Interesting choice to 'flip' Onslaught so that what was the back of the Hot Spot truck is now the front on the Onslaught truck. Generally these prototype images are pretty close to what the final mold will have. Guess that means these features are set.

Well they're due out sometime around christmas,so, factoring production times, and the fact that the club and TT want them too, yeah, I'd say they're almost set.

The combiner head isn't included in the prototype.

Normally you'd see the antennae poking out of just under Silverbolt's/Scattorshot's chest, but there's just empty holes there.

If the head was just a straight-up repaint of Superion, I don't see why it would be excluded from the Prototype. Just some food for thought.

It's entirely possible and most likely the case that the head is in there but the antennae are not. These funny colored "prototypes" are really mold tests to make sure everything turns out right before production. Since the antennae are made of soft plastic they wouldn't necessarily be tested with the hard plastic since they use different molds. And since these are usually stolen from the factory it isn't uncommon for them to be incomplete.

Once you realize how to lock Hot Spot's legs into place the figure is a lot of fun. Unfortunately the torso mode developed the "Combiner Lean" faster than Prime, Silverbolt, and Motormaster.

The vehicle mode is different but you end up with roughly the same robot mode. I'm not complaining though, I'll be saving that for Scattorshot.

I too hope for a better Scattershot and technobot limbs. He would be very nice and allow for me to have all the classic vehicle combiners together. I also agree that the Sky Lynx repaint would be really badass :BOT:

Why would we need a 'better' one? It looks unmistakably like Scattershot, it can even make a biped/quadruped cannon mode, so it needs a mouth on the combiner head, it's still using, far and away, the best torso, that allows for the best balance, and best amount of movement >:oP

It's also a bare-bones redeco and partial retool of Silverbolt that does very little to differentiate his robot mode from Silverbolt and has a torso mode that is to all intents and purposes a redeco'd Superion. And coupled with the fact we aren't getting Technobots...

Just buy Quantron instead.

You don't know that we're not getting techno bots. But as is comparing a $25 figure to a $100+ figure isn't even remotely fair.

I'm more referring to what Seibs himself said. I wish the combined mode head had some retooling and I wish both combined mode and robot mode had some slight tweaks. Look like Scattershot in vehicle mode, but not really as robot or torso mode. Don't get me wrong I love the mold, just would appreciate more effort into the chest area for the 2 modes where that is applicable :BOT:

3rd party figs are no where near worth comparing. We're talking about a 6 or 7 fold increase in price from companies specifically designing them for collectors, not kids too. :BOT:

Well we haven't seen official pics of his combined mode, Just the rushed hand painted/assembled version made for botcon; between what seibs and hasbro have said, I think it's safe to say: something special involving the technobots is happening next year. So let's all just calm down a little, I have no worries; hasbro promised new molds, and we will get them, whatever they may be (i.e. CW, titan wars, or BW anniversary).

And, while we haven't seen it yet they could change the chestplate for scattershot, the only reason that I can see for hasbro not including the chest plate spires, is that it forms the ankles in bot mode, so computrons tall clavicle spires would form ungainly stilettos for scattershot.

Dunno, I doubt they would say outright that they wouldn't; they'd be shooting themselves in the foot if they did; especially with all the cryptic mumjo jumbo they were spouting about betatron being a 'prototype' of computron, or whatever >:oP

That's not how it transforms. If anything stuck out from the combiner chest plate it would stick up as a knee spike. And it doesn't have to even come above the knee in Scattershot mode. Take a look at how the plate rests against Silberbolt's leg. The plate slopes down, plenty of room for clavicle spires.

My biggest complaint, aside from the combiner head and chest plates, is the tail. They remolded the middle fin to have the little laser, but why does Scattershot still have the angled v-fins? Not impressed at all. :BANG_HEAD:

I was looking at the Powercore Combiner answer to Scourge *well he's inspired by him. and got to thinking that mould has :

Helicopter, Missile Tank, SUV, & Half-Track. so those might be some sort of idea of what limbs you could give to Grand Scourge as an alternative to the traditional ones Energon Optimus has - which don't line up as well.

So perhaps the limbs that might work for Grand Scourge would be :

Alpha Bravo/Vortex
Brawl
Offroad/First Aid or Swindle
Rook

I think it might be possible to bodge up a Technobot Drill tank out of Brawl if Takara wanted too, remould Groove a bit into Afterburner (sort of like was done with Chromia), possibly just use Wheeljack or Dead End as Lightspeed and then make one new mould for Strafe.

So I can't say that it's impossible to do if Takara wants to do it... and they've already had several remould lately such as Nightbird and Blackarachnia so there is some precedent there.

The only problem for me is that perhaps Scattershot - "Isn't very good" ? I think if they'd made the wings hide the arms a bit more that might have helped a bit more.

If he ends up being all on his lonesome that would be a bit of a shame.

With this Scattershot repaint, those blue parts are really jarring. The G1 figure didn't have that kind of coloring (at least not that I remember, I never owned the figure). There's something a little too 'Captain America' about the addition of the blue parts. I think with some more judicious remolding, they could have made it even more like G1 Scattershot. Too late now, though - they're committed.

Hey Shockwave 7, are you referring to the photo of the prototype or the stock image that was posted? If it's the proto photo, that is not what the final version will look like. That is a test molding. I'm sure the factory uses whatever left over/ extra plastic they have on hand to cast these tests. These are given to the teams at Has/Tak to look over and make sure the mold is casting correctly. No need to worry over that particular casting.
He does look real "Captain America" though. ;)

Yes, but more to that how are we not to believe that the actual physical toy Hasbro presented us in he unveiling would NOT be the actual toy we would be getting. What more proof do people want?

A prototype actually showing which parts of the torso have been actually changed ? Because I have that right here:

And Bruticus too:

Now, was this really necessary? After Hasbro revealed the figure in full already? Because if this is news, please let me know and I will make a news post :)

From the figures shown at Botcon, the combiner head IS just a straight up recolor of Superion's head. And by recolor I mean...not changed at all.

Well, no. The head shown at Botcon wasn't even a recolor. It was just Superion's head. I said it then and I'll say it now: the head shown at Botcon was a placeholder because they hadn't designed an actual Computron/Betatron head yet.

If they don't at least recolor it, I'm gonna get some torches and pitchforks to put on eBay and you guys will make me rich. :-D

Condescending in the first part but honest in the last. I am news staff, if you guys judge this to be actual news, I will news it. But before I must know what you guys find new about this because I don't see anything I didnt see back at Botcon.

But it is a recolor, the eyes are painted red on a black background rather than a silver one. The antennas are now more orange than beige/yellow.
