Normally you'd see the antennae poking out of just under Silverbolt's/Scattorshot's chest, but there's just empty holes there.
If the head was just a straight-up repaint of Superion, I don't see why it would be excluded from the Prototype. Just some food for thought.

Why would we need a 'better' one? It looks unmistakably like Scattershot, it can even make a biped/quadruped cannon mode, so it needs a mouth on the combiner head, it's still using, far and away, the best torso, that allows for the best balance, and best amount of movement

It's also a bare-bones redeco and partial retool of Silverbolt that does very little to differentiate his robot mode from Silverbolt and has a torso mode that is to all intents and purposes a redeco'd Superion. And coupled with the fact we aren't getting Technobots...
Just buy Quantron instead.

You don't know that we're not getting techno bots. But as is comparing a $25 figure to a $100+ figure isn't even remotely fair.

I'm more referring to what Seibs himself said. I wish the combined mode head had some retooling and I wish both combined mode and robot mode had some slight tweaks. Look like Scattershot in vehicle mode, but not really as robot or torso mode. Don't get me wrong I love the mold, just would appreciate more effort into the chest area for the 2 modes where that is applicable

So let's all just calm down a little, I have no worries; hasbro promised new molds, and we will get them, whatever they may be (i.e. CW, titan wars, or BW anniversary).
And, while we haven't seen it yet they could change the chestplate for scattershot, the only reason that I can see for hasbro not including the chest plate spires, is that it forms the ankles in bot mode, so computrons tall clavicle spires would form ungainly stilettos for scattershot.

That's not how it transforms. If anything stuck out from the combiner chest plate it would stick up as a knee spike. And it doesn't have to even come above the knee in Scattershot mode. Take a look at how the plate rests against Silberbolt's leg. The plate slopes down, plenty of room for clavicle spires.
My biggest complaint, aside from the combiner head and chest plates, is the tail. They remolded the middle fin to have the little laser, but why does Scattershot still have the angled v-fins? Not impressed at all.

It's entirely possible and most likely the case that the head is in there but the antennae are not. These funny colored "prototypes" are really mold tests to make sure everything turns out right before production. Since the antennae are made of soft plastic they wouldn't necessarily be tested with the hard plastic since they use different molds. And since these are usually stolen from the factory it isn't uncommon for them to be incomplete.

From the figures shown at Botcon, the combiner head IS just a straight up recolor of Superion's head. And by recolor I mean...not changed at all.
Well, no. The head shown at Botcon wasn't even a recolor. It was just Superion's head. I said it then and I'll say it now: the head shown at Botcon was a placeholder because they hadn't designed an actual Computron/Betatron head yet.
