My stores still have Whirls around. And the walmarts have gotten the MM and BCOP, but no new stuff yet except TRU, but hell no on those prices :BOT:

It's like everyone forgets about Whirl, so for some reason they are everywhere now still.

Other than exclusives, Rook has no straight repaint in the line anywhere, right?

No, they are blatantly different, even if they share an identical transformation.

For this conversation we're talking a change of colours and maybe a new head, that's all. So the repaint would still turn into a personnel carrier.

To play devil's advocate for a moment, this is one of those issues where it comes down to personal opinion. Ironhidesh is correct that hound and swindle are certainly not new moulds but neither are they simple repaints of old. A lot more work has gone into them to make them feel like completely new toys.

Exactly, I'm fine if that's the logic he goes by, but that's saying that rook and swindle being 'repaints' is the exact same thing as Alpha-Bravo and Vortex being 'repaints'. They are clearly on very separate levels even if they aren't original molds (and what line ever has been wholly constituted by original molds >:oP )

That's a ridiculous statement. Let me flip it for you. Why don't you let people dislike what they dislike and stay out of it?

Anyway, I'll take the road suggested by that fine fellow zero. To me, they are the same figure, to you they are not. So be it, its your money and choice, same as me.

And would that not be the text-book definition of a Retool?

Swindle and Hound are however in my opinion seriously ugly retools, with the visible fists in the cab, the sock-drawer in the front, the insane level of molded detail put into the vehicle body and then practically no paints ops. Still if you squint it looks kind of like a military jeep/Humvee sort of thing.

Having the gun on the roof of the vehicle does help a bit in selling the concept of a Humvee-esque vehicle with it's 50 cal on top.

Only if you want to call them a retool ;-) my argument is that we should just let people get on calling them what they want.

I plan on adding some paint apps to Swindle myself sometime. I saw a pic somewhere of a gorgeous custom painted Swindle. There's a great figure in there, just gotta make it pop in the right places with some purple and black. Though I agree the jeep is pretty funky looking. LOVE his head and eyes

Hound and his wavemates are pretty bland to me though, don't really care for the Sky Reign combiner team. I already got my goofy noncombiner->combiner fix with the Optimus Maximus crew and Galvatronus, don't need another. Well... I might get Trailbreaker, he looks pretty great as a standalone or if I need a limb for Galvatronus or something.

I still have Skylynx/Onslaught box on preorder but if I find an Onslaught before it ships I'm cancelling it. I've kinda soured on ol' Lynxy after getting a better look at him in all modes. I won't complain if I don't beat the clock though and just keep him in bird-dino mode surrounded by my Micromasters.

then my choice would be redo it as Brushguard

I am passing on Bruticus and also Sky Reign's combiner team, I just want Sky Lynx as Sky Lynx and I think the only other thing on my want-list for CW as it stands right now is Legends Wreck-Gar which I just want because it's Wreck-Gar :-P

I did kind of want to get BC Optimus but I really hate how that mold looks when combined, the thing has legs up to it's arm-pits practically, which would be bad enough but then standing next to Superion and Defensor, who are both pretty well proportioned it looks even worse. I might eventually break and just keep him un-combined...if I can get him cheap.

You know, with the 5mm forward-facing hand sockets, you could probably come up with something that approximates Brushguard's Wolverine claws. That's a nifty idea.

Actually we're talking about a repaint of Rook but thanks for that idea, also thought about a custom turning rook into an alt looking as close to the apc from Aliens as you can get it (yes, I know their bodies are a lot different but it would still look cool)

LoL. With the Foot/Hand/Gun thing on top it's passable as modeled here by Wandering Roller.
