Misunderstanding. First aid is the only one of his kind cause he is the only one to use that tooling. All others use the basic Offroad truck mode. No one used the emergency vehicle version :MAXIMAL:

They share tires, combiner ports, weapon, combiner hand/foot/gun, shoulders, biceps and elbows, waists, thighs, and knees. Every vehicle part is different between the figures (except wheels, as I said) and they even have different robot chests, forearms, and shoulder armor. While the number of shared pieces is greater than the newly sculpted parts, the new parts comprise a bigger percentage of the figure. That's what makes these "reshell" style retools so effective: you can change a lot of the figure but only a few of the parts.

Thanks for the pics, TB. Those side-by-side comparisons really highlight how great most of these retools are despite what some say. Granted, some are more effective (First Aid from Off Road, Swindle from Rook) than others (Prowl from Streetwise is basically the same mold), but good overall. Where the failing comes in is where there hasn't been ANY retooling at all, in the case of all the helicopters. What is vs what could have been.

Rainmaker, I'm curious; you've been a member since late 2015, yet you have little to no knowledge of the Combiner Wars figures which have been around for about a year now. I know I haven't really seen you around the boards (at least not where I typically hang out) until recently. What have you been up to that you're only seriously getting exposed now? Or am I seeing it from a totally wrong angle?

Thanks guys!

I did love First Aid when I had UW Defensor (before he broke) so that's a good suggestion. My one complaint with him was his use of Offroad's axe. Also I'm planning on getting the MakeToys Defensor, and unlike Swindle I only want one First Aid, so I'll need to give him a new identity (and possibly a new head). He might make a good Strongarm actually with a coat of paint, a new head and a new weapon...Hmm.

Offroad is awesome, if somewhat hard to get due to Wave 2 never coming out in the UK and him being scalped to hell on the aftermarket.

Prowl is a good shout. I loved the Streetwise mold but was never very fond of the off-grey of the UW release, and Prowl's Classics figure has a habit of going sticky for some reason. Also the more police 'bots the better.

That's how I've always seen it. First Aid can cut through the burning debris, grab you and haul you out of dangers way, then transform and take you to the ER. A fireman's axe is an appropriate weapon for a rescue hero. And he can then imbed that same ax in a Cons noodle if necessary.

[BW] Rainmaker, for convenience, we consider Offroad and First Aid to be retools/reshells due to the similar transformation and engineering as well as some shared pieces and weapons. Really, what Hasbro has done is take one base and make two main designs: mold twins if you will. It's nothing more than a "skeleton", with pieces being switched out between designs. That's the secret behind Combiner Wars (and was key into getting it approved).

Some "twins" are easy to spot, but the hardest one would have to be Skydive vs. Air Raid, which have the most drastic changes between the two. Still, the shared pieces, few as they are, and weapon give the relationship away.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

Looking for:
- TR Furos (Hardhead's head) and Crashbash (lost him :()
- PotP Punch head
- TR Galvatron right arm (the gun one)
- CW Brake-Neck/UW Wildrider, CW Offroad
- TR Twinferno & Grotusque
- Greenlight, Lancer and PotP Elita-1 (plus repro Victorion hands and feet?)

If I'm recalling correctly, the bio on the back of First Aid's box listed his axe as a "Cyber Cleaver" used in operations - I don't see how that thing could be of any medical use other than amputation but whatever you need to do to sell your toys hasbro, lol

So! Uh. I'm new here; and part of why I joined is because I'm loving combiner wars (despite having exactly one voyager and four deluxes thus far; having the balance of a uni student and living in a place that doesn't stock non-RID 2015 transformers locally is fun), and I wanted to share a thing with Onslaught that I surprisingly haven't been able to find anyone do yet. I was kind of just messing around with him, Blast Off and Generations Armada Starscream as a display and talking about how good I thought it looked to a friend and randomly he was like "hey, how does Starscream look on Onslaught's back in their vehicle modes?". So after testing a few things out, I decided to see how Jet Mode Blast Off looked on Armoured Transport (or whatever Onslaught is) mode Onslaught since, well, one of the cool things about the G1 toy IIRC is that he was long enough to carry a small jet on his back, most commonly Blast Off; and that's been replicated in a few third party Bruticus sets like the Crossfire upgrade for Energon/Super Link/ROTF/Universe Bruticus Maximus.

So without further ado; and I apologize in advance for the awful quality and shooting area - again, uni student budget and accomodations - but here's the best I could do for Blast Off sitting on Onslaught.

http://imgur.com/a/2qsXQ

There's a few different ways you can try this and it's obviously not intended because each way has it's own fair share of problems; this way's problem being that Blast Off eeeeeever so slightly leans off the back - that said, I found it to be the best way to put him on; the specifics of this being leaning the Blast Off head right up against the Bruticus Head. It lays there pretty flat, and unless you touch it it's pretty damn nice to display and even roll about a little because I'm a nerd. I don't know how well this'll work out for the Unite Warriors version with Shuttle!Blast Off - and I sure as heck am not gonna be able to afford that nor am I that interested - but for now I think it's cool to see that Onslaught can do this with BlastFireSlingRaid.

... also, I did indeed try this with the aforementioned Generations Armada Starscream. And while I am probably the only one on the planet who would ever meet the requirements of wanting to display a jet on Onslaught, displaying a jet other than Blast Off on Onslaught and using the Generations Armada Starscream for a G1 Starscream; I think it works pretty well.

http://imgur.com/a/RfzPn

It leans up nicely against what are Onslaught's feet in Robot Mode and you have to do a little bit of fiddling with the underside of Screamer - specifically, you have to pull out the tab hiding his head a little otherwise it'll bump into the ridge on the back of Bruticus' head. It's a bit easier to explain in person but you get the sort of idea if you wanna try this.

The really nice thing about this in general is that just looking at the back of Onslaught you wouldn't expect this to be possible - the space he had in abundance in G1 is now taken up largely by the Bruticus head assembly; but said Bruticus assembly actually lets you prop the jets up a little in a way that surprisingly works to an aesthetic advantage. It's something I was very surprised with and I'm very happy with the outcome.

So, my first post on this forum is a massive wall of text about putting a vehicle mode on top of another vehicle mode. Truly I shall go far

The light-bar didn't stop them from using Prowl for Smokescreen, I don't see why it should have prevented them from using First Aid for Ironhide.

Have your cake and eat it too with Hunter Ratchet as an option. :CON:

I love that one, but it just isn't a priority right now ;)
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.

Using the Offroad mold for Ironhide instead of First Aid makes sense to me since Ironhide was a pickup truck in the movies; and as evidenced by things like Generations Blitzwing part of the new redesigns for characters in CHUG is folding in aspects from non-G1 interpretations of the characters.

... and while I didn't like the movies, I think being a pickup truck works for Ironhide and fits his character.
