Hey guys, I was wondering what you all think of the wave consisting of: Hound, Smokescreen, Wheeljack, and Trailbreaker? I don't have any of these characters (besides RID Wheeljack but I want a G1 representation), however since they are all just repainted and/or retooled are they good versions of the characters? Or should I track down previous versions of the characters?

Wheeljack and Smokescreen are barely-painted pieces of garbage and should be avoided. Hound and Trailbreaker look good though. Trailbreaker can do BIG HAND MODE with his HFG so there's that.

Man, that's lousy. What is it with CW/UW and stress fractures? Between my UW Defensor, your CW Magnus and the issue you just described with Trailbreaker it seems like the whole line is just plagued with awful plastic, shoddy tolerances or both.

CW Wheeljack on his own is really bad, yes. And maybe it's cheating, but with reprolabels he can actually really shine and look quite lovely. If you're fine with sticker application and buying add-ons like this and you absolutely need a Wheeljack, it's not a bad choice.
But yeah, without the repros he's kinda crap

Or you could jut get the takara version

Thats the beauty, he's sold individually, unlike ratchet, so you can still get him as an extra! There is only winning (granted you have the money).

I just pre-ordered Lynx Master online , and purchased a CW Smokescreen at Wal-Mart. Done & Done

Funny thing about that is, excluding Japanese-exclusive media; there were originally too many Decepticon combiners. They had 7 in total - Devastator, Menasor, Bruticus, Predaking, Abominus, Piranacon and Monstructor.

Based on todays News, and not counting hodge-podges (Ultra Prime & Betatron)...the numbers are actually even. If you include convention & club exclusives, Cons'actually have two more for a total of 8 combiners to the Autobots only 6.

You'll have to get past the problem that the head can evoke literally no other character than Wheeljack. It's... it's just a Wheeljack head. Even if nothing else about the toy says he's Wheeljack, that head makes it impossible to see him as anything but Wheeljack.

You can actually hear it crack in optibotimus' video, but I thought the port wasn't actually measured to fit a 5mm port, but people just think it can and force it, and the plastic splits, I don't think it has anything to do with qc for once - but I may be entirely wrong

I too recommend Trailbreaker and Hound. Great figures by themselves. Smokescreen is fairly good as well. Wheeljack is the worst of the lot, but still alright. Main thing would be the lack of paint, which really really hurts him

You're missing one, Wreckage from Subscription 5.0 (and others) meant to counter Thunder Mayhem.

Tell that to Slicer. Downshift was Hasbro trying to fix the mistake of giving the name Wheeljack to another character in Armada, but Slicer is G1 coming out only seven years after Wheeljack debuted.

We don't know yet. We just found out in the Unite Warriors thread that Takara is hinting at a release of Victorion in the Unite Warriors line as a Decepticon whose torso is formed by "the wife of the Emperor of Destruction".
