I think it's taken from his animation model which was sort of a bucket head but flat on the front (You'd need to see a pic to understand what the hell I'm trying to describe)

I keep saying, slight retooling, that's be a rocking Generations style machine wars Megatron/Megaplex.

Does this help? I dont really see it. It's more like he has a square head with a very flat edge at top, like all Aerialbots.

That rumor is nothing more than a listing in Walmarts computer, and that listing highly resembles the Protectobot set that is already out now, with Legion Prime Arcee as Groove.

I cannot trust anything in Walmarts computers. They said we would have a deluxe Arcee four years ago and a Combaticon Bot Shot set that never saw the light of day, amongst other debacles they have "rumored" over the years.

Id rather see a scaled down Leader Megs, like they did with Optimus. Of course, it is probably not possible to re-tool it to work with the combiners without incurring a major cost.

But... we did have a Deluxe Arcee four years ago. Animated Arcee was a Deluxe released four years ago.

And the Prime First Edition Arcee (along with the rest of the Prime First Edition Bumblebee and Starscream toys) was originally going to be released in the Generations line before Hasbro changed their minds and made the full blown Prime First Edition mini-line. So it could have been a leftover listing from those initial plans.

I just thought of Swindle randomly. Maybe not, but I don't see Brawl as a Protectobot. However, I love your idea of a SWAT tank with water cannon. That is AWESOME!

Right, but around that time is when Prime (both the show and the toys) would have been in development, giving enough of a window for the listing to possibly refer to an upcoming figure that would be taken out of the Generations line and later put into its own line, which is what happened to the three aforementioned Prime FE figures.

Don't forget that there was also a Starscream in those listings, and the first Generations Starscream toy (the FOC one) wouldn't come about until 2012.

Man, we really need a 'senseless internet argument' filter on this site.

Anyway, these guys are looking awesome. Simple, but awesome. They probably needed to focus on simplicity a little more than they did with FOC Bruticus to get things right. I'm really happy that they took the previous combiner experiences and learned from them.

I also like that we finally get a satisfying combiner without it having to be a $600 3rd party behemoth. I don't need 6 voyager/ultra figures combining into something almost as tall as Metroplex. A voyager and 4 deluxes is far more suitable for what I want in my collection, and a heck of a lot more affordable.

Hasbro is on a roll these days. I will happily skip on whatever kid-friendly lines they want to release as long as they keep doing stuff like this.

Also, I'm a bit late to this one, but Silverbolt doing a handstand = MIND BLOWN.

Could be. I do remember that a few Prime toys were going to be in the Generations line, but I believe those figures were to be Bumblebee, Starscream, and Cliffjumper. Of course, as far as Groove and the Walmart listing goes, I would think that the possibility of making Groove a Legends is pretty slim. No other combiner team is doing this, and you also have the fact that the listing is 100% accurate in describing the aforementioned set of three repaint Protectobots from Universe/Prime molds.

Except the set would have had a single listing for all 3 figures. Plus, both Protectobot sets are Asian exclusives for Children's Day there, why would Walmart have those brought over so soon?

Couldn't have said it better myself, Kirb.

The other thing to remember about the early "Generations" line is that it was originally meant to be strictly Deluxe scale figures, God knows why. Granted, the released Grimlock and Soundwav, but back then that was out of the norm.

Yeah, I couldn't find a decent pic of him online. But you can see two curved fins on each side of his head. It looks like the made the whole head curvy. I guess it is for a planned retool.

Even if they repaint some of the figures, some of the molds still have to be new. Would they just use the Motormaster and Silverbolt torsos again?

If they make Onslaught as a Semi with an attached flatbed, it can be easily re-used as Hotspot, even more so due to their transformations being very similar to each other.

I don't know. Why would Groove be a legends class? No other combiner is doing that sort of thing with the missing member of their team.

So we know of the stunticons and aerialbots and rumour has it Devastator will be released as a Titan Class figure with 6 voyager style robots (sorry Kirbenvost, that will be super expensive but nothing compared to 3rd party). I am guessing most of us here know this since everyone is talking about Bruticus and Abominus.

Because of the recent FOC Bruticus release and the recent Abominus release in the Prime line, I don't think that's who they will choose. Those were both some pretty hardcore homages to G1, especially that Abominus even if it was in a smaller scale.

So of the ones left, I am particularly hoping for Predaking, but since he was never a scamble city himself and that it would be odd having animals with vehicles, I dont know. I still hope for it though.

And for the autobots, I find computron a lot more interesting for updating character designs than the likes of Defensor.

Hey Shockblast, just so you know, they are actually totally doing that in this line.

Here's the breakdown for Menasor which was announced the same time all those early pictures came:

Generations Voyager Class Motormaster
Deluxe Class Dragstrip
Deluxe Class Dead End
Deluxe Class Breakdown
Deluxe Class Offroad aka Wildrider
A black Legends class car who forms up the combiner's chest

Here is that legends class car

Image

Image

And here it is forming the chest

So, to respond to your post, they are literally using an extra character as a legends class figure to go with the combiner. And they are doing it with Superion too, in the form of a legends class figure becoming him weapon. So they are both doing that.

Stop giving Hasbro ideas on how to reuse the mold four times!! :D

I bet the mold they use for Onslaught will be used for Hot Spot. I hope not as I am a fan of new molds, but as far as cost goes it is totally plausible.

I really do like your idea of the SWAT truck for the Protectobots though. That would be awesome!

They may have choosen Groove for the Legends member considering his vehicle mode and scale: apparently even they thought a giant motorcycle amount cars would look weird to some kids. It's also consistent with the "replacing a limb bot with a new character" schtick Superion and Menasor have.

Wow. I was not aware of that usage for Blackjack! That is pretty cool there. So, with that said, I guess the possibility of Groove being a legends for Defensor is quite probable. I wonder why they didn't do the same with Superion? I know that any of the new legends can be used as a gun or weapon, but not actually transforming into part of the gestalt!

Thanks for the info, that solves two mysteries for me. Who the hell is Blackjack and why did they choose it randomly when there are so many other legends left to make, like Brawn and Seaspray.

Random thought

I wonder if we will see a Pipes out of the Optimus/Nemesis Prime/Huffer mold?

If they make Onslaught as a Semi with an attached flatbed, it can be easily re-used as Hotspot, even more so due to their transformations being very similar to each other.

I'd say they would be smaller but longer than Prime/Motormaster, probably long nose trucks, like the original Onslaught. I doubt they'll reuse Prime/Motormaster. Their fronts are too bulky and they barely have any space to put a ladder/cannons on the back...

Swindle could also have an armored car alt-mode. That could ALSO be the rumoured Rook...

I really doubt that Brawl won't be included. He is very known and popular, dare I say iconic. He was on WFC, FOC and the first Movie... Also, tank modes can be reused easily, so there'd be no problem on making him...

Weapon: Energon Crossbow
Another question, are the pieces for the hands and feet going to come in the package with the Voyager member or one each in its limbs??
