I wasn't meaning to imply that Takara was better or anything. For some reason my brain's still struggling to get used to brand unification Probably because lately I've been looking at the Legends line for some figures that Hasbro made exclusives to conventions or boxsets with figures I didn't want or care about. But I was mostly getting at the price tag that always hurts to look at for characters. It's part of the reason I'm likely to skip Big Powered despite me being a sucker for the Japanese G1-aesthetic. Selects meanwhile has actually been almost a budget Masterpiece line in the sense that it's affordable, and it seems more directed at older fans

The TR "Powermaster" Prime/Legends Super Ginrai mold seems like it could have been retooled into a decent Star Convoy, even if they couldn't make the base mode look like the original's. I'm kinda disappointed they didn't do that.

I'm definitely on Team Snap Trap and Team Super Megatron for the new silhouettes. Shame about Megatron, I was really hoping for a Leader, even if it meant another heavy Jetfire retool.

Wished they did some more retooling on Star Convoy's alt mode, like add tank treads and the Rodimus Prime style trailer covering.

I don't really get that. Isn't Action Master Prime just a straight up G1 prime? There is very little about him that is distinctive from him to other Primes. If there was a hint of an homage we should be seeing a orange gun, blue forearms and chest windows which look more like actual truck windows. Plus to make it a nice homage, the truck mode should be a long nose truck. But we have none of that here.

I am really surprised by Takara's choice for the new chest. It looks bad, which is weird since that panel is fake kibble and can look like pretty much anything. Dont know why they went for that.

Also, I know I shouldnt giggle at other's misery, but there is a big dissapointment online at Star Convoy simply being a slight retool of POTP Leader Prime. Like, NO **** SHERLOCK. Takara was extremely upfront about it, we knew it was POTP Prime with a retooled head and chest from the get go. I don't understand how anyone expected more (unless of course they didn't see those pics).

I'm disappointed that they didn't rework the trailer to have the treads like the original one, but other then that, I'm pretty happy with this update. I just hope he's available through Hasbro so I don't have to pay import costs for it. IT also looks like the new smaller optimus cab is a much better version then the POTP version we got.

Really? They looks almost the same to me

Star Convoy looks fun but the legs and alt mode are major disappointments to me. It's just the Optimus truck mode with extra Star Convoy flair in robot mode, which still looks fun but I desire more than Optimus in Star Convoy cosplay.

I think Snaptrap is using PotP Grimlock's shoulders.

I actually agree with the others. at least with TR or Ginrai there could have been a base mode. Some people here believed that *somehow* would figure out a base mode from the PotP toy, because they managed to make base modes for Legends Sonic Bomber and Roadfire. While TT can pull off some amazing things, sometimes the task is just too insurmountable.

Yeah, but it's still part of the fun/nostalgia of that original. Is known for going great lengths to try to replicate the original when they can, as is evidenced by what they did with the Big Powered Set. usually you don't see fan modes of TT stuff, because if they can do it, they'll make it official, as in the case of Sixshots 7th mode etc... If the new Star Convoy had a base mode at all, one would think it would have been shown off in the pics from yesterday. Not saying its impossible, but it just seems like an odd thing to hide if it were so.

To be honest, Star Convoy having a base mode would only work if there was a MicroMaster Hot Rod to go with it.

It's close, I'll give you that, however the arms have the flat panels on the side so it looks more like an extended cab instead of, well whatever those round arms looked like (aside from garbage).

Plus I like his robot mode. I know the previous one was Orion Pax and all, but I wasn't that impressed with it.
