I need to know how are the ratchets in his thighs and ankles on the new feet? are they solid, can he hold his leg up under the weight of the limb bots?

It would be up to TT at this point as the seacons were their initiative, hasbro just imported them and sold them to us

Ankles are solid, surprisingly. The thighs are okay, but the hips are a bit loose for me personally, they sometimes do a squeak click so I don't know if its a faulty ratchet or not. Has a bit of a leaning-forward syndrome. However you can still pose him just takes a little bit.

Well, my hungurr couldn't hold his leg up at all, so if it's better than that, then I guess its something

After some experimentation, I've found a few things:
1) The knee joint on Gulf/Skalor is terribly weak, if you tilt Piranacon backwards the knee will just bend on its own. It's also what is causing him to lean forward.
2) The ankles aren't as tight as I thought. They are tight enough to support the weight, but they will rock on their own if gravity has a say.
3) He cannot balance on one leg, due to both of these factors.
4) He is very difficult to pose!

You can get him doing some poses, but it just takes a lot of trial and error, and it doesn't help that my copy of Skalor has one of the weakest knees known to man. I really wish there was a way to tighten the combiner peg, because I don't like that he leans forward so much.

My verdict is that the joints could be tightened, but they are manageable.

Also, I'm very paranoid about Snaptrap's arm joints/Piranacons waist joints. The plastic sometimes skips on the ratchets, and I feel like at some point the ratchet could just break. Doesn't feel strong at all. Holds in position once its there, but I really feel it could break on me after a few transformations.

It can still pose in certain poses, but nothing dramatic like a running pose. However, it may just be my copy (I didn't get them through Hasbro Pulse they may have better QC).

they're literally the same thing, other than if hasbro gets ones that are produced later, TT can tweak minor things (like tightening joints) based off of feedback from earlier production runs (example siege starscreams chest plate)

I know its kind of a case of too little too late since the design dates back 5 or 6 years but...It would have been nice if the Combiner Torso's had more ratchets on the hip joints. To get them to stand straight sometimes one click is too many, and other times it isn't enough. Other than that though, I think the system is pretty good. I love that almost every classic combiner has been reproduced as well as several new ones ever since CW back in 2015.
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics

Wish List of Modern Combiners: Road Caesar, Monstructor & Dinoking (proper size to fiction), Landcross, Guard City, Battle Gaia, & G2 Defensor. Wish List of Titans:Metrotitan,Majin Zarak

I personally find the problem isn't with the torso hips but the knee joints on the limbs. They all seem to lean forward. They just need to be a tad tighter!

Crosswise from Smokescreen and CD Red Alert from Doubledealer have been mentioned on other threads, both of which I think are good options. I also had the thought of Mudflap, I'd especially love it if his accessories and crane hook were translucent green like the OG figure. I don't really think Override and Dirt Boss would work from those molds though, Arcee is way too different from Override in terms of proportions and Dirt Boss had a unique enough alt mode that none of the Earthrise molds really match in addition to not having Hoist's dad bod.
Dirt Boss' altmode is a monster truck, but it's still a pickup like Hoist. And besides...his chest's closer to Hoist's...than Mudflap's is to Grapple's.

1. The closeness of the chests clearly aren't that much of a factor, otherwise Selects Hot Shot wouldn't exist.
2. Mudflap's proportions, alt mode, and head design match G1 Grapple way closer than any of Dirt Boss matches Hoist.
3. Mudflap seems like a more likely possibility anyway since he's a Mercenary in the card game, meaning he's at the very least on someone's mind towards the Hasbro side of things.
Your later suggestion of Scorch from the Hoist mold would work much better than I think Dirt Boss would work from...anyone, really, he's not exactly easy repaint material. Shame, more monster truck TFs would be awesome.

Megatron makes a better CD Scattorshot anyway IMO. What with having his arms become a turret and all.

Impactor's arms also become his turret though? :???:
Image
Plus his legs transform in a very similar manner to CD Scattorshot, his alt mode is a closer base design match, and using the Impactor mold would put him between Hot Shot's height and the theoretical Doubledealer Red Alert's height for scale purposes. The only issue would be having to try to work his rocket pods into the plastic budget, and if they were going to make him a Selects figure that retooling probably wouldn't be on the table to begin with anyway.

The knees on Piranacon are really worrying, I think in order to have him stand up straight you need to bend the hips back one otherwise he's leaning forward. Makes me worried for when he eventually has an entire bot hanging off his hand, especially as on my copy at least the hands don't plug in that well into Nautilator/Seawing (the arms). I love this set but I'm really worried about how well its going to come together.

TF Source just shipped my second set of Seacons. Interestingly BBTS hasn't gotten the first wave in yet which I have pre-ordered through them, only Seacons they got. As an aside, which Seacon usually forms the gun?

This is the standard config for the gestalt, numbers are CW position:

1 (Right arm): Nautilator/Lobclaw
2 (Left arm): Seawing/Kraken
3 (Torso): Snaptrap/Turtler
4 (Right leg): Skalor/Gulf
5 (Left leg): Tentakil

But the US G1 toy instructions have two variations, depending on Nautilator being included:

With Nautilator
1 (Right arm): Skalor
2 (Left arm): Seawing
3 (Torso): Snaptrap
4 (Right leg): Nautilator
5 (Left leg): Tentakil

Without Nautilator
1 (Right arm): Skalor
2 (Left arm): Seawing
3 (Torso): Snaptrap
4 (Right leg): Overbite
5 (Left leg): Tentakil

I'd honestly prefer the rumored/theorized coronation version. Preferably with a blue nosecone, alternate missiles under the wing along side the null rays for his arms, and maybe some toy-style tampographs, something to set it apart without being the exact same figure twice for those that already bought one Starscream. Also as a Selects there's no need for price conformity, even less so if it's a store exclusive, an extra $10 should do it.

But if we can have both, then yeah, I would take a Ghost Starscream. Howabout Selects Ghost and Amazon Coronation?

But if we can have both, then yeah, I would take a Ghost Starscream. Howabout Selects Ghost and Amazon Coronation?

Emerje

Alternatively, Ghost Starscream, but he includes the Coronation bits for retail Starscream

Weapon: Saber Blade
It'll be an all gray Starscream post getting blasted by Galvatron.

I think that I'd prefer a Ghost Starscream, but I wouldn't say no to a coronation Screamer either. I can't say I'm a fan of the two pack idea, but it would be a really cool set.

Sentinel_Primal wasn't proposing a two-pack, but rather Ghost Starscream coming equipped with the Coronation accessories (which the buyer could transfer to a regular Starscream they already had).
WANT:
* Cyb. Galvatron key, missiles
* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Leader Sentinel Prime sword, shield
* RiD Galvy dragon head, beast arms
* Leader Ironhide windshield, R hood assy.
* Cyb. Wing Saber left chestplate (argh)

I know, I wasn't commenting on their post.

I'm talking about what Chuck said and a speculation of a grey Starscream and Galvatron two pack on a TFW thread. Which takes the alleged alternative head and a post made by Hasbro into consideration.
