Transformers Generations Selects Series Discussion
Re: Transformers Generations SELECTS Series Discussion
I received notification that Rotorstorm has shipped, only a week after they charged me. I wonder if Hubcap and Super Megatron are shipping this month as well?

Both are currently slated to, but with Pulse, the actual date they ship is often about a week after they say it will. So Super Megs might be pushed to early October when he actually leaves the facility based on his September 26th ship date.

Yes. It was one of the Decos for the Botcon 2016 Build-A-Figure (see my want list). I've not read a single SG story, but I knew what today's selects release was. I have the TFCC SG Starscream (based on CW Aerialbots) from the last release. The only reason why I want the SG CW Ratchet is to complete my Grand Scourge Combiner. If I ever get one, it will be the 2nd SG character I have, and only because it can be part of a Combiner.
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics
Wish List of Modern Combiners: Road Caesar, Monstructor & Dinoking (proper size to fiction), Landcross, Guard City, Battle Gaia, & G2 Defensor. Wish List of Titans:Metrotitan,Majin Zarak

Hubcap was supposed to start shipping on the 1st and then they pushed him back the day of, so if he doesn't start shipping before the end of the month that'll be a heck of a delay.

Nice catch on the name, don't wanna confuse Emerje if he ever reads this.

Although I do share my actual name with an AH member, funnily enough, just not Jeremy.

...not gonna lie, it took me this long to respond to this because I've been laughing about the idea of "Decepticon Colgate" since you posted it.

So far I've been thinking about the name Juryrig for SG Ratchet, given his particular brand of "medicine", but I'm not 100% sold on it. Prime...I might just call Shattered Prime, honestly, not really sure what else to do. He is what first comes to mind when I hear Shattered Glass mentioned, so I may as well keep the name for him.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY? There is no way I'm buying this. The only "upgrade" from the original set (which I have minus Swoop and Snarl) are Grimlock's guns, which will immediately be scalped from the set on Ebay anyways.
Grimlock's combiner torso mode (without 3rd party stuff because I'm broke) is weak as all get out. I tried slapping on Slag and Sludge as arms, and holy crap! The "shoulder" portion can't even hold the weight of the arms, let alone arms loaded up with weapons. I was hoping that Takara would have done a design tweak or something to fix that, but alas, no change except for some new paint and guns.
Such a disappointment.

Something interesting has been mentioned in regards to the SG Optimus and Ratchet 2-pack.
I just received an email regarding the RoboCon 2020 exclusive BotCon Guidebook that is still forthcoming. Near the end of the email, after the update about the guidebook, the following was mentioned as an aside:
Notice the uppercased emphasis on the word "first". There are two ways to interpret this.
Either it means "first" as in "the first time Hasbro themselves have ever done a legit SG release"... OR, it could mean "first" as in "the first of more SG releases to come from Hasbro."
Curiouser and curiouser...

Yeah, I've seen that too, but at this rate I wouldn't be surprised if Hasbro made an actual WFC Toxitron as a Selects or as part of a GO set or a Netflix release or something before the trilogy ends, and that name is too entrenched in my brain as being a different guy for me to personally feel I can use it here anyway.

Re: Transformers Generations SELECTS Series Discussion
Why would they be sticking it to FunPub? Is there some drama I'm unaware of?
It'd be nice to see more Shattered Glass. More because I like the idea and less because I want more SG for myself, though. Unless it's a Seeker I'm unlikely to buy SG. Although I must admit ... Rodimus Unicronus is tempting (I'm a big Hot Rod fan).
Glad they're giving us some clarity on the scope of this project.

Y’all remember how Nemesis Prime is coming with a trailer? Yeah mine’s going straight to this Prime. I see Shattered Glass Optimus as the kinda guy to haul a trailer over Nemesis. Just needs a couple labels, darn shame ToyHax doesn’t seem to provide just Shattered Glass faction labels.

A thought just occurred to me.
If Hasbro actually wanted to incorporate Shattered Glass versions of characters into the War for Cybertron Trilogy storyline, there is a very easy way they could do so without needing to bring alternate universes in the mix.
In the Cyberverse Season 3 episode "Thunderhowl", Bumblebee and Chromia take a trip over to Cybertron's ancient and abandoned Crystal City, where they encounter Thunderhowl. While in the city, the three are confronted by evil crystalline versions of themselves manifested from the mirror-like walls of the city's structures. These glass-like duplicates are basically born from the reflections of the three Autobots, but with their colors washed out upon their emergence from the mirrors.
So, these SG versions could be created like that if Hasbro wanted to put them into the story without making them come from another dimension. They'd just have to introduce Crystal City and have the characters visit there at some point, and then have it be that the glass duplicates are simply colored like the Fun Pub SG characters.

A way to get around this is by making SG Prime Toxitron before he became "toxic" if he wasn't otherwise as such from the start. (Like in the Fan Club Toxitron backstory)

They could also do variations of ideas such as the Animated Stunticons who took on "Autobot bodies" in order to infiltrate for their mission or the time in the G1 cartoon where Megatron created a duplicate Optimus Prime, the duplicate could maybe take on these colors once they were exposed.
I would personally prefer if they were "distinct" characters rather then clones. (Although a clone that becomes a distinct character is fine too)

They could also introduce them as failed clones made by Shockwave, like what they did with Soundblaster.

I'm pretty sure it isn't SG Rodimus officially despite being obviously designed to look like him, he's sold as Rodimus Unicronus (as a Unicron corrupted Rodimus so G1) with Decepticon symbols instead of SG Autobot symbols.
He was used in the Prime Wars series as a corrupted Rodimus as well (Rodimus Cron), so overall there is nothing that makes him SG Rodimus except his visual appearance which could just be chalked up to as a reference.

Yes. Now go to your room and don't play with yourself.

Not the first or last time incorrect faction symbols have been used though (autobot symbols on Junkticons, shattered glass symbols on SG junkticons, Decepticon symbols on sharkticons shouldnt really be there even if it's okay for Gnaw, G1 symbols on G2 figures, Cyberverse Repugnus set, Merc symbol on what they call selects Bugbite) so he might as well be SG Rodimus.
