Not in as many words, but some of your remarks gave me that impression.

Pretty slim, but I figured that extensively futzing with him to try and create one stood a chance of changing your current opinion :P Admittedly, possibly for the worse.
WANT:
* Cyb. Galvatron key, missiles
* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Leader Sentinel Prime sword, shield

Honestly, to me it's just the fact that Grimlock is not like a regular bipedal bot. His legs are thicker in robot mode, and his dino head is a nuisance as back kibble. Having said that, I haven't actually tried to fiddle with him, I'm basing this on my perception and previous handling of him.

As for Selects, I wonder, will we get any leader or even *gasp* commander class Selects figures?

Commander class would be interesting to see but I can't think of anyone they could redeco Jetfire or Sky Lynx into. Their bodies (especially the magnificent sky Lynx) are too much them to be anyone else... Other then Shattered Glass versions.

Don't have to be redecos. Unless that's a Selects requirement? (Or just makes financial sense for HasTak.)

Hasbro selects: new head retool at most
Takara: heavy retooling, but more expensive to obtain

Which answers Rodimus' earlier question, Super Megs will be a (pricey) Voyager.

With the other Seacons, the non-preorder stock didn't go up until well after those waves shipped. I just got Snaptrap today. I also ordered the third pair on TFSource, but only recently, so I'm not sure if I'll get mine fulfilled right away.

My final pair is also on pre-order with TFsource, no signs of them coming in stock yet, not even an "in-stock" soon advertisement on the sponsor news. They are very far behind the curve with these

Since Hasbro suddenly likes to use NASA logos I fully expect us to get a black and white Astrotrain with NASA logos on the shuttle in Selects. Not sure if NASA would approve of use of their logo on a Decepticon (I checked, the logos require permission to use), they may have to rename him (NOT Galaxy Shuttle) and include faction stickers for the rest of us.

No, just the generic, they will be shipping soon email. My guess is they ship out this weekend. Most of my recent orders from them have shipped on a Saturday.

Well, both of those are kinda baked into the vintage design; any Grimlock based on it is going to have that some degree or other. Even MP-8 has the dino head flopped on his back. Does it at least have a tab to secure it?
And hey, a dino head on one's back can be useful.

Possibly. Given that Takara is treating Selects as an extension of UW and Legends, we may even see a Titan-class Selects figure. A bigger, better version of a certain Frail Grail.

Just a moment ago I had two holds show up on my bank account for the last two Seacons. With all the mail delays as of late I think you're right about shipping this weekend. It's not like the old days when they'd ship the same day they were charged an arrive the same day they get around to telling you they shipped. Those days will be back soon enough.

By this do you mean Hasbro cannot name a new toy Galaxy Shuttle, or you would just prefer they didn't?

Also if Pulse is going to ship out the 3rd wave this weekend, I'm definitely going to keep a close eye to see if these 2 come in stock soon after. Not sure what is going on with TFSource, they still have the pre-order available for the last set...

are they prone to overestimating, then cancelling what they cannot fulfill? I've never pre-ordered from them before until now, only purchased items in stock. Not keen on the fact that they took my payment immediately, I hope I can get a refund as easy if it becomes necessary.

Why not? It's similar to how Powermaster Prime/Ginrai was based off CW Ultra Magnus.

I have the entire set preordered via TFSource, and generally, they were added to my Pile of Loot about a week or so after they were released in Japan (I have Snaptrap, Seawing, Skalor, and Nautilator waiting in stock). Overbite and Tentakil were released in Japan on March 27th, though, and their Expected Date was moved from March to April. My guess is that Coronavirus has delayed however they get their shipments, and that Hasbro's came over by a different method.

More like Fort Max outta Metroplex, and we all know how that turned out.

If they do Star Saber, they need to do right by him, not shoehorn him out of a mold that looks nothing like him.

That pic has forced an awkward mistransformation onto Jetfire to try to mimic Star Saber's transformation, fooling people into thinking Jetfire would make a good Star Saber when the two have tangibly nothing in common between each other.

I'm siding with Sabrblade on this one. The mold would need reworking from the ground up, so much so it'd be easier just making a new mold. At least that way they could build in the connection ports for Victory Leo. We need Generations Starsaber but not at any cost.

I can see the general idea here. But one thing is sure. Star Saber should be his own original mold. Then make Victory Leo as a leader class "armor guy."

By this do you mean Hasbro cannot name a new toy Galaxy Shuttle, or you would just prefer they didn't?

I don't think the name would fit right and it's a little too generic on its own to be used as a name in the west. It would make a great title (like Galaxy Man Soundwave), bit I don't think "Galaxy Shuttle Astrotrain" would make a lot of sense either with Autobot symbols. I'd probably be fine with them borrowing the Mini-con name "Sky Blast" though I'm sure that would just annoy people, too.

Plus, Commander class Star Saber really should be a retail figure, not a Selects. Especially not a Takara Tomy selects because those Commander class figures have a Japanese MSRP of $185 and would cost more as a Selects, at which point you'd be better off just getting the MP with its chrome swords and minimum die cast.
