I got the reprolabels and helmet for him right away so I keep thinking that it's an included accessory! That horrible-from-most-angles facemask gimmick makes it required.

Sad thing is, otherwise he's a fairly solid CHUG Galvatron. All they would have needed is a helmet on him, like the Leader-class figures from TR had.

He just needed a proper regular head. It was our first really decent Galvatron figure and it was messed up by a gimmick. The chest had plenty of space for a proper Galvatron crowned head to fit into as well, just to add more salt to the wound. Very curious to see what we get for Super Megatron. This is a toy I've wanted since I first learned about the Super Megatron character back in the early days of the Internet/mid 90s, especially since Star Convoy had no toy nemesis. Star Convoy was also one of my early Japanese Transformers toy purchases, which I bought at BotCon 1996.

I'm not sure what to make of the inner Optimus figure in Star Convoy. Someone above mention Action Master Optimus Prime, and perhaps the head is an homage to the Action Master toy head (don't have mine handy to compare), but whatever they did with the chest on that Optimus looks bad. Wish they had come up with something else for the chest. I think I'd almost rather see it be a Powermaster Optimus Prime inner robot homage with that unique chest window design. Or maybe we'll get a proper Powermaster Optimus Prime / God Ginrai at some point in the future if we're ever lucky.

this is cool and i want this, but i was hoping that if a new version of starconvoy was ever made that there would be also a base mode and a micromaster hotrod to go with it

but i doubt you could just buy one arm and a leg at a time most likely he would be in a boxed set

That is a cool story (and I'm not being sarcastic, I genuinely liked it) . I got the Star Convoy re-issue at a small local con around 05/06. I always wanted to get a Grandus & Sky Garry to go with it, but alas I sold my entire collection less than a year later.

I kind of like the idea that the inner Prime *might* be an AM homage (even though it Transforms). It would be an interesting fusion of & takes on the character. I'd like it because to my knowledge, there was never an in fiction explanation as to how the Transformers had their ability to Transform restored because the toy line ended after Action Masters, and the Marvel Comic never really explained it (of course Transforming was a rarity anyway in those later issues anyway).

IN my head canon though Star Convoy fixes so many things that went wonky towards the end of the original series .

Because Armada prime always felt like the combined version. I just dont want to confuse more people (nor myself)

It could also be a homage to the original G1 Toy as it has the same/si,ilar marking on the faceplate

I always thought the combined mode was just called optimus prime super mode

That is what the display label says, "A Convoy" (while the one for Star Convoy read "S Convoy").

Of course I just realized that it was the Japanese name of piranacon

So if Hun-Grr is retooled into Snaptrap, the turtle head would replace Hun-grr's tail, and the dragon necks (the bot legs) would become the shell somehow? That'd mean SnapTrap's turtle mode would have really short back legs.

If these guys are Generation Selects, then that means Armada Convoy (nice name by the way Nemesis Primal) could be coming to that line But, this could be like previous lines where Takara releases figures that Hasbro won't Guess we'll have to wait and see... And I REALLY hope that it is Snaptrap and that we're getting Piranacon! He is one of my favorite combiners, but I'm worried they'll take away the fun of having the Targetmaster mode for all the limbs by making one of them a legends class figure, or that the joints won't be strong enough for the combined mode to hold the weapon. And I wonder if they'd still have the Enigma slot

The select line is online exclusive regardless, for the life of me i dont understand what difference it makes if its from Hasbro or Takara. Its not like you'd find any of these at target.

ok, I can definitely get behind that.

I do hope we're not going back to the days of Takara is better then hasbro for x reason again. That being said I don't see why hasbro couldn't just have combined their line with Takara's though are Japan getting red swoop and ricochet any other way?

I hope so too, brand unification proved that the higher prices had nothing to do with paint apps or superiority and was just due to toys needing to be imported.
